We were very pleased with the hotel, the location was excellent, the staff very helpful and rooms comfortable. Our bedroom was over the street on the 4th floor but rather noisy at night. Our travelling companion was over looking a lightwell and was very quiet but rather claustafobic. Breakfast were expensive so we ate in nearby cafes. The Tapas bar was very good.
First off, Madrid airport is confusing.
You land in T4s if coming from the UK. You know you have to get to T4 to get your luggage, but non of the signs say T4. The secret is simply follow the luggage signs if collecting luggage or follow the exit signs if you have hand luggage. Doing this takes you to the underground train that takes you to T4. Simple!!
We took the metro from the T4 into town. It was easy to use, go to the automated machine at the metro entrance and choose the ticket, including the airport supplement. (combination ticket). The train runs very frequently and it only takes around 12 minutes to get to the last stop, which is in the centre of Madrid
The walk is just a bit too far to the hotel (we walk a lot) so take the taxi, its around 10 euro's.
The hotel is well situated for all the main sites, its very clean and the staff are very friendly. We didn't eat in the hotel as there were so many choices around. We would definitely go back to this hotel. The reason we went there was as a recommendation from someone who had already stayed there
I suggest taking the city tour bus on day one just to get a sense of the size of the centre (and to get a map). After doing that, we walked everywhere. Even going west through the town to the Palacio Real was only 1.6km
On the day we left we took the taxi. It was a fixed price of 25 euro's to T1,2,3 and 28 euro's to T4. (You check in a T4 even if leaving at T4s)
