Cons: Updating of the hotel rooms would be beneficial, as well as Maid service coming more frequently.
Location: The Dorada plaza next door offers tours...good prices! We bought all our tours from Marysol and we highly recommend them!
We had a lovely vacation, the hotel was spotless, the staff was aways keeping up on maintenance on the grounds, no garbage anywhere! Beach was fantastic, clean and the water was calm and clear. The rooms were a little older and could probably do with some updating, more or less the bathrooms. It is not a five star hotel so do not expect that kind of service. It is an easy going place to be and the price was right as we were not looking for five stars. We were on the all inclusive plan so there was plenty of bars around the facility and food was served all day long, the "a la carte" was great we really enjoyed the Mexican, Italian and the Brazilian, if you want to make reservations for those restaurants best time is to be down at the lobby at 9am at guest services they book up quickly.Plenty to do around the grounds, pool games and water aerobics...The animation crew worked their butts off and put on a great show every night, we really enjoyed the entertainment after dinner! Barcelo hotel is great for any age and it was a nice mix of every age group and safe for children. We enjoyed ourselves and will be returning to Barcelo next year! Thanks for the great memories!

Clean hotel, near beach

Pros: Friendly staff (except at Italian restaurant). Rooms clean. Beach well kept.
Cons: Too many vendors on the beach. Earlier shows and should be more diversified. More shaded areas, elevators for seniors and handicapped
No elevators, hard to get a chair by the pool, more shaded areas near pool needed, lacked daytime activities suited for all ages, shows should begin a little earlier (8 or 8:30), food was very repetitive. Daytime activities could include daily karaoke, shuffleboard, bocce ball, archery, bingo, etc. - activities suited for all ages. Rainy day activities should be available (bingo, karaoke, movies (especially for children). Most of the food staff was very friendly. Refrigerators were nicely stocked but diet soda should have been available also. Rooms were clean but some minor repairs needed to be done. (door handle kept falling off).

Nice hotel, great swimming pool, food was ok.

Cons: Food.
Location: Waterfalls.
Had a good experience in checking in. Misleading, you have to pay for a safe in your room. Staff was friendly. Very busy on weekend time hard to get seats for buffet. Also couldn't have an a la carte every night only a portion of your nights.

Good for family vacation

Pros: I liked the swimming pool.
Cons: The reception staffs need to show courtesy. Should have a gym and a better disco
Location: The location is fine
Food was ok but should be some sea food included at least some shrimps.

Resort was five minute walk to beach

Pros: Resort was kept very clean. Wide variety of food and drink available all day until 10:30pm. Hotel staff were very accommodating and kind.
Location: The beach was open for walking and running, parasailing, catamaran with snorkeling and there was a mall within a five minute walk.
Plenty of excursions to choose from directly on the beach. Beach vendors selling all sorts of things from jewelry to clothing to wood shapes at good prices. Pools were nice and spacious. Atmosphere was warm and friendly. Housekeeping services were great - complete with towel swans and other shapes daily!!! We felt safe the entire time with security staff readily available. Ride from airport was 15 short minutes. Dominican Republic natives were all very friendly.

Very inviting hotel, with not so great food

a good place to vacation with friends, but would chose a better resort for a more romantic getaway. don't look forward to the food!

Enjoyable for spring break

We really had a fun time. Pool and food were great, so were grounds, and location just off the beach. Nightclub was fun, and our package for four nights was affordable.

No place to park your car, nothing worked in the

Cons: everything
Location: go to Iberostar resort which is much better
toilet and shower did not work even after tech repaired them, only 2 people for check in , this resort has 550 romos, total staff overworked and stressed tyherefore not very friendly, service in the dining room was terrible I asume that you know I would NEVER GO BACK THERE

Old and need updating

Cons: Update rooms
The hotel was ok but would not return. We were in the premium club suite and didn't find much of a difference. No upgrade resturant or drinks. We were right in front of main pool and to find out it was spring break. The noise level was very high and then nightly entertainment was right across so relaxing was not easy no quite time. Beach was ok.
