Nice hotel close to the beach

Pros: Close to the beach, food, night shows.
Cons: Needs new bedding, towels, it was not cool enough in the rooms and at the restaurants
Location: Located near the town of Sosua
It was good, relaxing, lots of food, entertainment

excellent!! alcohol was also included, the rooms were clean, the TV was old, but working,great people always smiling!!

I like to visit this hotel midweek as it is too busy at weekends, I have enjoyed over 5 visits to Barcelo and have never been disappointed. The staff are very attentive and always try to please. The hotel buildings could do with a general upgrade as some of the plumbing isn't working too well but it's great value for money.

What a disappointment! !

First of all, if you have traveled to Punta Cana I advise you not to go to this hotel. The check-in took about an hour maybe more. they are about 2 or 3 people for checking in & checking out. there were no defined lines it was hot & crowded. A better system is needed. The rooms are outdated. Furniture old and falling apart. Do not expect a flat screen TV it's one from the early 90s and the remote only works when maintenance comes to fix it. There is a fee for the safe. Hair in the towels, on the floors and walls of the bathroom & bedside rugs. Refrigerator stopped working. Told "only keep a little cold." Hold on to your washcloths. Only 1 for the entire trip (7 days). The natives visit very regularly and expect all to come out for the weekends. Friday Saturday and Sunday we had to wake extra early to avoid the elbow to elbow contact while getting our food and to secure a seat. The nightly entertainment was geared towards the natives. They spoke mainly Spanish. The food and the restaurant atmosphere was the best part of the trip.

Ruined my vacation. Please do not Book!!

Pros: I absolutely hate this garbage resort. It completely ruined my much needed vacation. I spent most of the time fighting with the staff than anything.
Cons: The staff in this place is rude as can be! On occasions we would say hi and they would completely ignore us.
Words can’t express how horrible this resort is. This is definitely the worst experience I’ve ever had. I’ve been to two star hotels with better service than here. The staff is rude and the treatment they give you is horrible! Please do not book. They will treat you like crap, especially if you are not a local. I stayed at this hell hole from July 15 to July 20. Dreaming of the perfect vacation for me and my family and being wooed away by the pictures, I decided to make this terrible mistake. Upon arrival, we waited two hours to be checked while there were only 4 or 5 people in front of us! They stuck us in a room with very very low water pressure Showering was nearly impossible!. We complained and multiple workers came to look at it. We asked to be switched to another room and after a day and a half of begging we finally got it. We asked them to put us in a building that was closer to all the amenities, as the original room 9-312 was far away from everything. They completely ignored us and stuck us in the room across the hall. We complained again and finally got a room near the main pool. After settling in our new room it took them an entire day to bring in the third bed! Two of us had to spend the night cramped up in one bed. The next day the air conditioning stopped functioning and once again it took an entire day of calling and begging to have it fixed! After they finally fixed it, there was no way to shut it off and we were freezing to death!

Ok budget hotel

Pros: Grounds, pool and beach were kept clean.
Cons: Food and service, condition of the room.
Location: Did not leave the hotel
There really was not anything too special about this hotel. Room was in an extremely dilapidated state, the bathroom was literally falling apart on me! Food was ok; mostly not a lot of variety and usually too salty, beach and pool were kept clean. Service depended on whether locals were around or not. Whenever the locals were around (on the weekend), you could barely get anything out of the waiters, servers, bar men. In all, I would say it is OK for the budget traveler but I definitely would not recommend nor go back. I have had a few budget travels and this was honestly the worst of it all.
