An expensive mistake.Posted Nov 4, 2013
Pros: On the beach. Lovely building. Excellent pool.
Cons: Speaking Spanish essential (or expect to be frustrated at any communication apart from front desk). Too much else to write here to list complaints.
Location: ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do nearby and surrounding all inclusive hotels hotels do not allow you entry. Nearest restaurant's a $30 taxi fare away
Now in the process of contacting Small Leading Hotels directly and letting them know of our bad experience. This Hotel does not represent the standards (and therefore assurances) associated with this highly regarded brand and website does not give you a hint of the reality of actually staying here.

Excellent for couples. Great hotel and servicePosted Sep 30, 2013
Pros: The pool, the architecture, the service, the restaurants...
This is by far one of the best hotels in Puerto Plata and in the Dominican Republic. This hotel has only 50 rooms and since we went in low season there were only 12 rooms occupied. Every thing was perfect and the staff gave that extra mile, you could notice since the beginning how everyone in the hotel was service oriented. My wife and I went to this hotel for our first anniversary. We both work very hard and needed a place to relax. The lobby is beautiful, all the gardens are very well kept, the whole architecture is beautiful. When they found out that we were on our anniversary they sent us a bottle of wine to the table and when we return to our room after dinner we found the pleasant surprise that there were candles and rose-petals all over the floor, bed and jacuzzi. Thats going the extra mile and the benefits of a hotel this size. The best: The room was huge, with ocean view. The spa was amazing. The endless pool and 4 jacuzzis are located on the 3rd floor with ocean view, BEAUTIFUL!, the food is great, the service is excellent. The bad: Is a hotel to stay in, there's no much to do outside.

Perfect romantic get-away.Posted Jul 24, 2013
Pros: Beautiful Room Beautiful pool with excellent view. Service Food
This was the perfect place to celebrate our anniversary. The hotel is private, quiet, and beautiful. Attention to detail is evident in the building, grounds, and service. Food and service at the pool, the veranda, and the restaurant were excellent. We were provided with the perfect balance of attention and privacy.

Extremely Quiet Exclusive HideawayPosted Jun 25, 2013
We moved here from the truly awful Iberostar Costa Dorada in order to save our trip. The hotel is beautiful and extremely well maintained and a huge jump in quality to those resorts around it. As some have previously mentioned the food and drink is expensive considering where it is, however the quality is vastly improved over the AI resorts. You get what you pay for! Two gripes about our stay; firstly the hotel was only at 10% occupancy so there was never anyone about, we ate in an empty restaurant and drank alone in the bar. As such there was absolutely no atmosphere at all. The other would be the 28% tax and service that goes on every item on your bill, most excessive I've experienced anywhere.

Best resort in Puerto PlataPosted Jun 6, 2013 on Hotels.com
Awesome! Great service, great food, very clean, Service staff were excellent in every area and always willing to help; always courteous. I stayed there 3 times within one month. It is my new home away from home! The gym could use some more equipment but I was able to make it work for me. Not much else to do in area, but if you just want to unwind, it is a great place to do it.

These folks were great. They understand English well, are service oriented and took great care of us. Hotel itself is great... Neighboring hotels so-so and noisy. Will definitely return again !

Nice hotel at th e nice Playa dorada beachPosted Aug 19, 2012 on Hotels.com
The hotel was nice. The Service is weak as in any 5 star hotels in Dom reb. They try but most of the people are not well trained. Quality seems something hard to understand for local people. Pool is small but okay, rooms are very nice but with a bad smelling of humidity. Food we cannot recommend. As we had a car this was not a problem for us. We went to the village every night and found several nice restaurants in town.
