Hotel was nice, as well as the staff. As in many comments previously, the food was expensive and not necessarily worth the price. Definitely need to rent a car if you want to go see things or excursions. If doing the bio bay adventure booked through the resort, don't pay $20 for transportation, it is right down the road from the resort. Our room was nice sized, but when it rained you definitely could smell the musty smell in the room from the humidity. I do understand that you are are surrounded by the rainforest and it is bound to happen and there isn't much that can change it. Just thought I would mention if someone is sensitive to smells.

Outdated facilities, but great views

Posted Jan 23, 2015
Rooms felt old with outdated bathrooms, worn carpet, old phones/tv...resort facilities were average. Additional charges for everything. Ocean views and nearby islands were spectacular though

The view from the hotel was breathtaking.

Need better restaurants. The bars have good food. High end restaurants food should have been spectacular for the price but weren't.

The property is very beautiful, but I didn't feel that the rooms were very clean or up-to-date as you typically think of a Waldorf Astoria to be.

Spectacular setting

Posted Jan 17, 2015
Pros: The elevation, the funicular, the private island for beaches.
Cons: Rooms could be updated, though our king-sized bed was very comfortable.
Location: Isolated location, but the resort had everything.
We stayed here a decade ago for a conference, and returned sans kids this time just for a wintertime reset. Stunning cliffside location, decent dining options, comfortable rooms (though not luxurious). Differences included no casino now, Las Brisas is now enclosed so no onshore breezes at breakfast buffet, and the private island beach on Palomino Island has been rehabbed to be sugary sand on the leeward side. Played golf this time - amazing elevated tee boxes and billiard-ball greens. Had a wonderful time.

Pros: Pretty much everything
Cons: hooks placed on the balcony for drying swimsuits and towels. easier and cheaper access to local restaurants and shopping
Most relaxing vacation I have had and was able to provide my husband with a surprise scuba diving adventure

Great Hotel But A Bit Too Pricy

Posted Jan 12, 2015
Pros: The private island is for sure a great plus! The water sports are not terribly expensive.
Cons: There is a lot of hidden charge besides what you are supposed to pay on expedia, such as resort fee, additional person fee (40 dollars/ person, day)..
Location: within 20min drive to the Fajardo port
It is great in general! But just a bit expensive. Great facilities and restaurants. However, there is a lot of hidden charge besides what you are supposed to pay on expedia, such as resort fee, additional person fee (40 dollars/ person, day)..
