Major disappointment

Posted Apr 24, 2015
Cons: Needs new management, restaurant and service overhaul. Also, dredge the sandbars so guests can actually swim in the ocean
Location: Nothing, just nothing going on at this place that is worth what they charge. THIS IS NOT A 4-Star RESORT!
We booked 6 nights at this resort, but checked out after 1 night. We would rather pay the penalty to leave this place than be stuck here for the rest of our vacation. The resort and grounds are beautiful, and our oceanfront room was wonderful, HOWEVER, the food, service and beach were horrible. The first day we waited for 1 1/2 hours at the pool restaurant for our lunch of grilled cheese, chicken fingers, and french fries (they were out of plantains and shrimp - the only Puerto Rican fare on the menu!) while fending off waves of bold crows attempting to attack diners at the outdoor tables. Normally we would have just found a different restaurant for the rest of the trip, but this is the ONLY restaurant at the resort that serves lunch! We booked dinner at the Asian restaurant and were told to be there at 7pm "sharp". We showed up at 6:55 with our 2 kids under 10yo and proceeded to wait another 30 minutes until the other diners arrived (late) so they could fill the table. The rice, lobster and steak were overcooked, my fish undercooked, and we overpaid for this horrendous experience to boot. The beach is basically 2 miles of seagrass and algae covered tidal pool... you have to hike about a mile over sludge-y seaweed covered sandbar to get to the waves or open ocean. My 9 year old went snorkeling and came out of the water covered in blsck sludge-y sand from head to toe. We paid 1-night penalty to cancel the remaining 5 nights of our vacation to get out of this place!

Nice hotel, loved the location

Posted Apr 21, 2015
Pros: The location.
Cons: I would have additional lighting around the pool area, keep the pool bar open later at least extend the hours to 8pm or 10pm. Play music for everyone
Location: Great things to do close by, beaches, jet skiing, and boating
The hotel was nice. The location was great close to the beach and away from the hustle of the city. The condition of the hotel can use some upgrades, my bed was rocking as if it was about to fall to the floor, the mattress was no better a big dip in the bed, asked for replacement or something received no attention. Staff could be helpful when calling front desk late night, never received housekeeping service. The pool bar could stay open until 8pm, need to add a little more lighting around the pool area, and they need to have music that accommodates everyone, not everyone knows or understands Spanish. Overall, a good experience and will stay again. Need to have Splash open until 8pm for families with children to get pool toys and towels.

Great resort. Pool, ocean, games, nice people. Tram rides are very convenient and championship golf is right next door.

Hotel is dated

Posted Apr 19, 2015
The hotel lobby is nice, but rooms are dated. Restaurants were open at certain times of the day - I suppose to have it crowded at certain times. The hotel charged for everything - nickel and dime you. Drinks and food were expensive!

Resort was on the beach. The staff were very nice

Posted Apr 16, 2015
Pros: Almost everything
Cons: A bigger beach would be nice, but on this part of the island it is not possible. It is a little rocky just off of the main pool area.
Location: The rainforest is very close and a must see. I would also recommend taking a tour off of the island to Flamenco Beach, very close, one of the best.
We choose the Red Level accommodations, which were the step up in price vs the standard room rates. I have to say it was worth it, they catered to your every need. The room was on the beach and a short walk to the main hotel for the pool and restaurant facilities. The Breakfast was included and had everything you could ask for and as much as you like. It was a very kid friendly place, our boys 6 and 8 had a lot of fun doing some of the kids club activities without actually staying in the kids club officially. It does not have a ton of night life on site, but they did have live music every night and karaoke another night. If you want the San Juan party and casino nights this is not your place but San Juan is only a 35 to 40 minute cab ride away if you choose a night out on the town. If you want a restful and relaxing location with enough restaurant choices on site so that you do not have to leave, very nice wait staff and a championship Trump International golf course, then this is your place. As far as luxury, it is not the Ritz Carlton but also not Courtyard Marriott, somewhere comfortably between but leaning more towards nice than not.

Pros: The resort was beautiful and clean, and it was really nice to have the pool and the beach so close to one another. The staff was very nice and helpful
Location: Location was really quiet and peaceful!
I spent 7 nights with my family in this resort and we all loved it. We had a great time relaxing in the pool and the beach. We are already talking about our next trip there!!!

Loved it, loved it, loved it!

Posted Apr 6, 2015
Pros: We liked everything
Cons: A more significant convenience store on site and a meal plan (primarily breakfast) would be good.
Location: You have to visit Ritchie's for the whole fried snapper and spectacular views. Don Pepe's is very enjoyable for dinner, drinks, and music.
We had a marvelous time from check in to check out. I room was beautiful with a gorgeous view. Our children ranging from 16 to 5 months, all had a great time and found plenty of activities to keep them busy and in joyous spirits. The staff was cheerful; and helpful. The free cabanas by the pool and hammocks along the beach were among everyone's favorites!
