Romantic and CozyPosted Oct 29, 2013
Pros: The style and elegance of the interior. The staff was so helpful and friendly.
Cons: The rooftop need a bit of work.
Location: The location is right in the heart of Old San Juan. You can walk to tourist sites as well as top notch restaurants.
This boutique hotel was perfect for our needs. I booked this hotel as a birthday present for my boyfriend. He's an architect and pays attention to the decor and style of hotels. I wanted something with a bit of character in the heart of Old San Juan. This hotel fit the bill. The staff was so helpful and accommodating. They helped us plan our stay and gave great tips on where to go, where to eat, etc. Also, the hotel restaurant was excellent. The portions were great for the price. If you are looking for a luxurious resort, look elsewhere. If you are looking for a cute hotel with character and grace, look no further. One tip is to pack light. Old San Juan is an extremely old city and this hotel is in an old building, so there are no elevators. If I could rate this hotel a ten, I would. I will definitely be staying here again.

Not what we expectedPosted Oct 27, 2013
Pros: The proximity of the location in Old San Juan is the main reason we stayed here. The period decor provides an ambiance of Moraccan flair.
Location: Would not stay in Old San Juan without going to Marmalade restaurant which is across the street and is easily San Juan's finest dining
Negatives include no elevator without which a room on the 5th floor is quite a challenge, the first room we were given had no hot water though the staff did relocate us to a different room right away, the proximity to the roof hot tub made for a rather noisy stay, and the street lights and noise made it difficult to sleep.

Boutique Style Hotel Great LocationPosted Oct 21, 2013
Pros: The hotel was very unique and plain different! Cozy and like a hostel. They try to do things European style by leaving keys.
Cons: Getting more staff so check out process isnt as long
Location: Multiple bars, shopping and short walk to piers and forts. Close to trolleys
Hotel was beautiful very crafty, art work and clutter everywhere but in a fashionable way. Lots of stairs to climb no elevator. Great location close to everything. Rooftop view beautiful with tubs to lay in and watch the stars but no cleaning products to clean tub ( bring your own store in walking distance). Staff very nice , laid back -check out a bit aggravating your trying to go and she is on phone making reservations but overall great experience. Suite room -master bed comfy other room with two beds not so comfy-loved double doors open to street currently construction could not get limo to drive up street had to lug suitcases up hill - noisy during the day but hey whos in the room at this time anyways!!

Quaint!!!Posted Oct 2, 2013
Quaint jewel, appreciated the boutique style with the authentic Old San Juan traditional feel. A nice break from the modern contemporary hotel. Walking distance to cruise port, plenty of shops and good eateries for breakfast, lunch and dinner for all budget ranges. Room clean, quiet, got lucky with a low floor provided no elevator. Would stay again.

Perfect location in Old San JuanPosted Sep 29, 2013
Pros: I loved the colonial (and exotic African) furniture . I loved that the movie Casablanca was running continuously on two screens in the lobby.
Cons: A desk for a laptop would be helpful. I had to put mine on the bed.
Location: All of Old San Juan is easily visited. The free trolley is great when you're tired of walking, but otherwise, just strolling the streets is terrific.
REALLY nice folks! Lovely room!! (Great bed and nice shower.) Construction had just begun to re-cobble Fortelezza Street, outside the hotel. They called to let me know about this, and to give careful instructions on how to get to the hotel, since cabs couldn't come down the street. Very thoughtful. The construction noise was really not an issue, as I was in 2G, in the back of the hotel. Generally, I would much prefer a room on the front, especially if that means a window that OPENS on fresh air, as opposed to an interior window, but in this case (window on the enclosed atrium), it was perfect. I climbed up to the roof terrace to see the view. (5 very enticing big BATHTUBS up there.) Cab fare -- $20 -- from the airport is set, so that worry was allayed. (I had a young driver who had only been driving a cab for a short time -- she didn't know her way around very well, but we enjoyed each other's company, even though my Spanish is nearly non-existent. We made an appointment that she would pick me up to return me to the airport. The hotel called to make sure, a half hour before we were to meet, and she was almost there.) Best parts of this trip -- wonderful colonial buildings (El Morro is awesome), great mofongo with shrimp and creamy garlic sauce (at Punto de Vista), really fine coffee at 4 different places (favorite was Coca'o on Pier 2), and a glorious sunset.

Great LocationPosted Sep 9, 2013
Pros: The location and decor.
Cons: An elevator would be nice.
Location: It's Old San Juan. There are good times to be had. Lots of great shopping, restaurants, and sights.
Do your research and do it well. I can't leave a bad review because we should have done more thorough research. We made reservations at this hotel and failed to realize that there is no elevator. Our room was on the fourth floor, so we had to drag heavy suitcases up four flights of stairs. There is no concierge, so no one will offer to help with bags. We also failed to realize that we were going to have to find parking on the busy streets of Old San Juan or pay extra for parking in a garage a couple of blocks away. We reserved a two room suite, only one of the rooms had a window. The location was the best feature at this hotel. If you're ok with the parking and elevator issues, you will have a pleasant experience. This place was nice, but we won't be staying here again.

Very EclecticPosted Sep 6, 2013
Pros: Staff were very helpful, great roof top tubs.
Cons: A restaurant or night club would be great
Location: Casino, pier, historical sites, restaurants, trolley, and souvenir shops all within walking distance.
Very romantic setting with great old world charm. We were conveniently located in the heart of Old san Juan close to the pier, Casino and not too far from the resort area. The hotel doesn't have a restaurant but there are plenty of great spots in walking distance. I would definitely recommend Hotel Casablanca if you are looking for a more intimate experience

Wonderful Stay in Old San JuanPosted Sep 3, 2013
I was on my end of summer vacation, and wanted to stay in the Old City. Location is superb, on main street [Calle Fortaleza] with proximity to great restaurants and shopping... a minute's pace to Plaza Colon for a cab, and ten minute walk to the Bars on San Sebastian. The staff was great, very helpful, and had good insights on activities. I would most certainly stay here again.
