Loved it!

Posted Jul 18, 2014
Pros: the history of the building, the service, the decor
Cons: perhaps cleanliness, but really that was minor
Location: Old San Juan, El Morro...
What a pleasant experience! The hotel is enchanting, the service is great, and the location beautiful. An added extra was the day pass to Isla Verde beach. If life takes us back to PR, we are staying here for sure.

A great hotel in the heart of Old San Juan

Posted Jul 14, 2014
Pros: Great location, free wine & cheese reception each night at 6 pm. Also free coffee, tea and fruit anytime. Pool was open 24/7.
Location: Visit San Cristobal and El Morro, hop on a free trolley to get around Old San Juan, great food nearby
Hotel El Convento was excellent. The staff was outstanding and always happy to give recommendations on what to do in the area...or just chat. We stayed in one of the refurbished rooms on the first floor, right off the restaurant/courtyard. The room was beautiful and the bathroom was brand new. Also, it was quite soundproof thanks to a special inner door. And though the room did not have a terrace, it did have this really nice sitting room with our own private waterfall. It was very easy to get around on foot to the forts, restaurants, shopping, etc. One day, we visited the beach at El Convento's sister hotel, The Marriott Courtyard, and enjoyed all the privileges of that hotel for the day, including access to the fitness room and showers. I would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again.

One perfect stay in Old San Juan

Posted Jul 9, 2014
Pros: Location, 2 terraces, Jacuzzi, pool, free wine and cheese gathering at 6PM, courtyard, their Sangria, comfortable rooms, excellent beds, great staff.
Cons: Nothing
Location: Close to both Castillos, El Moro and San Cristobal. Close to shops, restaurants, the cruise port, and the airport. This hotel is the destination.
After completion of our cruise, I booked Hotel El Convento so we would have a chance to explore Castillo San Felipe del Morro and Castillo de San Cristóbal. I could not have picked a better hotel for this purpose. The building is a magnificently restored 17th century monastery. The monastery appears as the third item on the legend of a 300 year old displayed at El Morro. It makes it that much more exciting when you are staying in such a significant historical building. The renovations are excellent, the amenities are superb, the staff is incredibly accommodating, and the entire experience was terrific.

Excellent Hotel

Posted Jul 7, 2014
Pros: Location, service, accomodations, food, and personnel.
My wife and i just stayed at El Convento over the 4th of July weekend for our wedding anniversary. Every worker in the hotel was friendly and helpful including the front desk personnel to Emir the bartender at El Picoteo, the tapas restaurant. We even recieved a complimentary bottle of champagne in our room. The hotel is gorgeous and comfortable. Every day there is a wine and cheese reception at 6pm and we met a lot of fellow travellers there. El Convento is in a great location in old San Juan and all sights are within walking distance. I would recommend this hotel to everyone and can't wait to return.

Amazing gem in Old San Juan

Absolutely fantastic experience staying at El Convento. Can't say enough nice things about how amazing the front desk/concierge staff are. Helped us with every request, accomodated changes in our schedule, exemplary service from check-in to check-out. Hotel itself is absolutely gorgeous, couldn't ask for a better location to enjoy and explore old San Juan.

Nice hotel in the heart of Old San Juan

Posted Jun 24, 2014
Pros: Pretty much everything.
Cons: I could find no room for improvement.
Location: There is a church across the street dating back to the 1500's. Also a plaza which is nice. Everything in Old San Juan is in walking distance.
We were on a graduation trip with my granddaughter. She wanted to see the rain forest and the Bacardi Rum Factory, among other things.

Excellent Location, Lovely hotel

Beautiful historic building in the heart of old San Juan. We walked to everything in old San Juan- do not recommend a car near here, as parking and traffic is difficult. Hotel staff were very attentive, however housekeeping cleaned our rooms multiple times a day. While we were there, usually. Our room was on the first floor right next to the ground floor bar; it was often festive there, but double doors kept things quiet for us. We also had a small semi-outdoor private courtyard, where we enjoyed eating our meals and lounging. The bed is wonderfully comfortable, and the AC very effective. WIne and cheese happy hour was great (both were good quality), allowed us to enjoy the lovely view and weather. Fitness center, pool, coffee/ tea/ fruit/ water available 24/7.

We stayed there for 4 days. It was wonderful! They gave us chocolates every day. They played music for us every night before we came back. We enjoyed our stay!
