“good value for the thrifty traveler”
the price was right on this one. Pack light or ask for a ground floor room while booking if stairs are trouble. The building is 3 stories tall. Good off street parking. Hotel staff for the most part were top notch. The beach was directly North of the hostel one block. very pituresque. Good food & cold beverages were a block away. local shopping another block or two. If fast food is your desire several chains have an outlet within a short walk. Easy access to freeways & airport. I would recommend this location to friends & family.
“Did not meet my expectation.”
Granted, this hostal was one of the cheapest in town and looked and felt like it. The location is good but that's about all I can compliment about. I would not go to this hostal again.
“Friendly, Personal”
We enjoyed our stay at Oceana Hostal Playero. The stafff was friendly, helpful and made our stay very pleasant and comfortable.
“WONDERFUL”
This hotel has received many bad reviews but regardless of what they nay Sayers think, this hotel is WONDERFUL. Yes, the pool is small, the breakfast is just toast, fruit, and juice but the Staff is REMARKABLE. You can always go and buy breakfast from anywhere but you CAN NOT buy a helpful Staff. We went there and didn't speak Spanish at all, the staff helped us find places and taught us Spanish phrases to help us assimilate with the natives. We got a free upgrade to one of the Villas and although it was a little dated, it was still phenomenal. To sum it up I'll just say...NO roaches. Location is great. Food is cheap. Staff is helpful.
“Never ever, ever going back!!!”
First the location is close to the beach and convenient stores. But that's about it! The room that I stayed in was small. The bathroom was extremely small. Can't dry yourself in there. The air conditioning is fantastic! The cleaning service sucks! You have to tell them to give you towels and clean the rooms. The irons are missing some pieces. They don't sweep at ALL!!! I saw a roach in the kitchen area and one in the bathroom. All the furniture are old. The remotes to the tv don't work. Had to stick my finger in a hole to turn it on. The pool is cover with trees. No tanning at all! Have to go to the rooftop to catch some sun. Only 10 to 15 people can fit in the pool. I won't recommend this to nobody!
“San Juan Oceano”
Worked for me.
“No bad for the price, but only for a few days”
Modest hotel that would be great for a beach vacation if that is what you want. Pleasant staff, but pretty disorganized. Lower you expectations of cleanliness. Knowing what I know now, I'd stay again, but only for a few days. Nine days was entirely too long. We arrived at noon, but had to wait until three to get the room. They said they were cleaning the room... It was the last clean sheets of the trip. They gave us a one bedroom suite after I insisted I had paid for run of hotel. We needed two beds, but the tried to insist upon one king. I held - polite- but firm. The suite was roomy, but beat up. Fridge smelled horrible, but good enough for beer. Everyone was pleasant, but no one seemed to work much. Service was slow. Beach was incredible if that is what you like. Keep in mind, in this part of PR, there are no services at all. No food, drinks, water or toilets.... At all. You have to hike two blocks back to hotel for everything. Again, I would have stayed if I knew all this, but only for a few days. Bus is $.75 to town and easy. Kasalta bakery is two blocks away. Do not miss it. We ate there a bunch. Some other nice eating places, but bland shopping. neighborhood seemed safe, all things considered.
“Not Impressed”
Location wasn't that bad. Very limited parking at the hotel, but there is parking available on the street. When I checked in, the bathroom was leaking. It had just poured. They shifted me to another room. Breakfast was a joke. You can either order orange juice or coffee, and orange juice wasn't juice. They gave me coffee anyway. Breakfast was a slice of toasted bread, a plum and a danish/muffin which wasn't bigger than a grape. When I asked for some butter, they tried to convince me that butter is non vegitarian and they are running a vegetarian restaurant. They were selling ommolette though. Still wondering about that. Since I stayed for 2 nights, and I only needed a place to sleep, it wasn't that bad. People I dealt with were very good.
“I got what I paid for.”
I am a sales man and and I just stay over night.
“Great Place”
I really enjoyed my stay here. The hotel was a block from the beach and in a less congested or touristy area. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. There is not an elevator, but the staff carried my luggage for me. The food at the restaurant was delicious. It was easy to take the bus to Old San Juan. I would definitely stay here again.
