beautiful quiet property

Posted Feb 22, 2014
Pros: Beautiful property, staff is extremely helpful and accommodating. Beautiful beach and pool. Food was delicious. Property is expansive and well kept.
Cons: Need more choices of restaurants...only one location for breakfast and 2 locations for dinner. Drinks are very expensive. No night life...quiet hotel
Location: About 30 minutes from san juan. Not really any night life nearby or on property at all.
Beautiful new hotel and property. Expensive (drinks and amenities $60 resort fee per day). Staff helpful and friendly - restaurants are delicious but not enough choices of places to dine.

Picturesque, but expected more from a 5* hotel.

Posted Oct 21, 2013
Pros: The pool and views around the resort were great. The quality and cleanliness of the rooms was also good.
Cons: The service at the restaurants and random "changes" to times and availability of the restaurants - just becuase it wasn't busy, was very disappointing
Location: The rain forest is close (10min) - just rent a car. Otherwise, it will take you about 30-40min to drive into San Juan or $80 cab each way.
When we arrived at the hotel we asked for our 2 booked rooms to be in the same building - the staff indicated the hotel was +70% occupency and could not accomodate our request. However, when we spoke with other staff and went around the pool and at the restaurants - they indicated it was VERY slow and only around 30% occupency. Given the slowness of the hotel, the St. Regis closed down the golf course restaurant on Monday & Wednesday (just due to slowness) and left us with only FERN to eat at for dinner. They hotel is quite far from any towns/restaurants - thus we were stuck eating at the same restaurant for 4 of 5 nights. Finally - not only did the staff decline our request to upgrade rooms, they didn't even light up the torches at the front entereance of the hotel indicating they only do that on Friday & Saturday (while in low season).... thus we had to walk back to our rooms in the dark. If you are looking for a romatic get-away and no real night life - you may like it & may have a better experience - but unfortunately, we found that on this trip the service at the restaurants or by the hotel staff was up to the 5* quality we had hoped or paid for.

Very nice resort

Posted Oct 18, 2013
We had a nice time.. Pool beach are beautiful. Rooms are nice not anything special, ours was the deluxe with a private balcony over looking paths to pool. Golf coarse is beautiful. The resturants are ok but need a better dinner selection. Went to fern resturant for my wife's 50th birthday I called them ahead to surprise her with cake, that never happened when it didn't the manager wanted to argue with me, while my wife walked away, I tolded him you only turn 50 once and he turned and walked away So we walked out. Other than that you need a golf cart to get around.

Amazing Resort

Posted Oct 7, 2013
Pros: Everything!
Cons: Nothing
Location: Culebra island is a must do, we did the mini boat tour it was very nice. Metropol restaurant has great food.
I stayed 4 nights at this resort and it was awesome. The room it's huge and the shower it's super nice, it has a tub big enough for a couple. The bed is very comfortable and they clean the room every day. The pool is amazing, the beach is only nice for a walk not so much to go into the water. The whole staff from checking in to checking out is incredible, very friendly and accommodating. I would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone. This is an amazing resort!!!

Bahia Beach Getaway

Posted Sep 3, 2013
Pros: The staff was great and the grounds were beautiful and we loved Carl, the tennis pro.
Cons: Children should be placed in different buildings than those without, or those stating in buildings with children should be told there are children the
Location: Good location but wish it had been a little closer to Old San Juan.
The only complaint I have is that I called in advance to check on the location of our room and the view and when we got there we did not have a view of the ocean which I paid almost $100 a day extra for. We were moved to another room in a unit full of crying and yelling children, and at that point wish we'd kept the first room. The room was beautiful but not relaxing because of the children.

Exquisite location, but missing the 5 star touch

Posted Aug 22, 2013
Pros: The location! The resort is beautiful! The staff could be better trained in 5 star service. Some stood out as outstanding, Jose, Carlos, Atalie.
Cons: I am not sure Starwood has provided proper training or treats their staff well. Or maybe it gets old serving people. Not sure, but something was off
Location: The rain forrest is amazing! Lots to do on the resort. We loved the bikes and took "bike-a-bouts" around the resort. Favorite moments!
LOCATION: Amazing, this location could not be any better. Resort is gorgeous! FOOD: Too limited and too expensive. We were shocked to find limited menus. On top of that the food was very expensive and not that good. CONCIERGE: I asked if I could have something set up for my husband in the room to celebrate our honeymoon. The concierge gave me a blank look. I suggested strawberries and champagne, she said she thought they might be on the room service menu and I could look. I was a bit stunned, shouldn't the concierge have some ideas and be willing to take care of that at a five star?? I also asked about booking a tour. She said the gentleman responsible for that was on break and I could check back in 15 minutes. I saw the manager on the way out and he asked if he could help. He asked three questions and it was done. Sadly the concierge could not do that. ROOM and MAID SERVICE: Room was amazing and they gave us an upgrade. The maid service was missing the five star touch. Taking a bath we noticed a red wine stain from a previous guest (GROSS!) Socks left hanging on a towel rack, dirty robe with stain. They never hung the robe correctly, usually on the hook by the neck with the hanger behind it. Also the canister lights were not fixed to the celling, then one day we came back and they were. OVERALL: Great hotel, experience good. Staff was nice. Hated being overrun by an indian wedding for four days. Wished the hotel had put effort into us too.
