The resort's water-sports center rents kayaks, along with snorkeling and Snuba® gear for use on reefs just offshore. (Snuba® is a shallow-water diving system with breathing tube.) An independent operator 200 m (219 yds) away rents surfboards and offers scuba excursions.
An instructor assists guests on 9.25-m (30-ft) rock-climbing tower (surcharge). Use of two lighted artificial-grass tennis courts is complimentary. An expansive playground is a hit with children. Adult and children's bicycles are available for rent. Use of an air-conditioned fitness center is complimentary.
Adjacent to the resort, Tropical Trail Rides offers beach/trail horseback rides. An 18-hole municipal golf course is about 6.5 km (4 mi) away.

“relaxing, incredibly helpful staff, beautiful blue ocean”
Pluses: - beautiful (paradise like) blue ocean. wow... spent hours looking at it on the lounging chairs... - incredibly nice and helpful staff. forgot a razor, the staff went out of their way to find something for me. one guy even offered to run to the store on its break...! - restaurant is great. and Ola Lola restaurant is also next door, a great low key alternative with a super friendly owner. - long walks on deserted beaches - seems great for snorkeling. didn't try (was too busy napping) but i believe you can borrow a mask at the front desk. water is really clear. you can also take surf lessons in the area + horse back riding next door. Minus: - bar was weak. i.e. cocktails (mojito, caipirinha, pina colada) were not really good. wasnt' looking to drink heavily, but a nice pina on the beach... a bit of a bummer somehow. - if you are looking for nightlife, you are far away from everything and you'll need a car which can be arranged at the airport. - restaurant choices in the area are fairly limited. but i guess, coming from NY, am spoiled... but again, VM restaurant is great and we ate there 4 times in 3 days without any regrets. overall, a deserted part of the island, full of surfers and local families enjoying quality time. fantastic place if you are looking to relax, read and just do nothing for a couple of days. on a side note, i have read there is no phone reception: my blackberry worked everywhere and we had wifi, no pb. hope this helps.
“Lovely but not star service”
It is a beautiful place on a gorgeous beach, but the hotel is minimal in the service it provides. If your expectations are of enjoying the beach and a comfortable villa you will be fine. There is no effort to make your stay exceptional. We had a blast because we were determined to have fun so bring your excitement and enjoy
“Relaxed Paradise”
Villa Montana is the perfect destination for travelers looking to enjoy true Puerto Rican culture. The hotel staff was quite helpful with directions to any destination we inquired about. It is very close to the airport. My advise is to rent a car. There are lots of local restaurants nearby with great local cuisine that are a must try. We had a great stay!
“Nice location, bad room”
Location is perfect, restaurant perfect as well. Booked room through expedia for 4, sofabed is horrible. Airco makes more noice than overcoming planes! Landscape is wonderful, as well as the pools and the beach. Maybe it is just a (very) bad (old) room.
“Can't wait to go back”
I have stayed here before, it is time that the rooms get a bit of an upgrade, specially the bathrooms. The restaurant, service and landscaping is still excellent.
“exquisite, well-equipped bungalows, at a stone-throw from the sea”
satisfying every desire! comfortable living in beautiful park with clean sandy beach; ideal for water sports freaks and others (tennis, horse back riding etc.) superb dining - I would have liked to stay longer!
“Exceeded my expectations”
Stayed here the first week in March 2011. Could not have been a better vacation. Very attractive and comfortable accommodations, our unit had everything we needed. Well maintained and beautiful grounds, the super comfortable lounges at the pools and beach. Very friendly and helpful staff. We left a deposit for next year.
“Great hotel and restaurant - bad front desk service”
It is a beautiful spot, hotel and restaurant. The rooms are nice and comfortable. We had a large group in three bedroom villa. Very affordable. The zen pool is to die for. Rarely others there. the hotels restaurant was exellent. Short drive are nice beaches, hangout spots, etc. Teh onyl downside - both times i have been here - the front desk is horrbile. They act as if they are doing you a favor answering questions and do a poor intro to the hotel property. So go, but expect little if not rudeness from the Front desk.
“Bait and Switch”
I booked a 2-bedroom garden villa and they put me and my 2 kids into a filthy 1-bedroom 250 sf (at best) unit with zero amenities and even less ambiance. When I complained, they said I was supposed to be in a cliffside unit, even though my reservation said otherwise, but that the garden view 1-bedroom unit was what they gave me. ?? The front desk staff were very rude, not at all caring that my written reservation confirmation clearly stated what I was to get and they just gave me a completely different, much lower quality unit, because "I prepaid." ?? The other staff were absolutely wonderful, the restaurant is terrific, with excellent food and service and a fantastic view. However, the "fitness center" is a moldy room with an old dusty bike and the great restaurant on the beach is often closed to guests not involved in the weddings that use the restaurant. So, if you want a very isolated get-away in a lovely place, come here only if you call the hotel directly, find out which unit you will be getting, and find out whether there is a wedding planned for when you will be there. Also, note that children cannot swim off the beach and the larger pool in the on-line pictures doesn't exist. Management here does not like on-line booking services and won't honor your reservation.
“A unique and pleasant hotel”
Hotel was rather difficult to find certainly off the beaten track! Having said that we found that it was on a beautiful stretch of coastline with very comfoftable accomadation. The food served in the restaurant was of high quality well presented with a very pleasant beach view from ones table. Staff were attentive and efficient,so overall a very pleasant stay.
