Beautiful Resort!

Posted May 4, 2015
Pros: It was a beautiful place to stay for my special birthday.
Cons: Service desk could use some help. It was always a slow procedure.
Location: We visited the El Yunque National Rain Forest , the eastern side of the island for Snorkeling and San Juan. They were all easy to travel to.
We were very happy with our stay! Room was clean and very comfortable. Nice Beach and Pools.

Pleasant hotel on the beach

Posted May 4, 2015
Pros: The setting is beautiful. Everything at the hotel went smoothly except for the airport shuttle.
Cons: Kids club, shuttle to nearby shops, restaurants, activities.
The hotel is very nice and clean. Beautiful setting. We had fun. My only wishes would be for: a kids club or kids only activities (there were none), more activities without having to rent a car, and a more reliable shuttle back to the airport (it was a no show and we almost missed the plane, and even if it had been on time, with the lines at san juan airport, 2.5 hours prior to the flight departure is not enough to leave the hotel).

Great hotel, views, etc.. But no night life

Posted Apr 28, 2015
The hotel is a beautiful resort. Couldn't ask for anything better during the day. 2 pools, beach, outside bar. The activities you can do outside of the resort are unlimited. Definitely recommend going to El Yunque rainforest and San Jaun for a day. My negatives that I had however were that at 5pm they close all outside food/bars. Pool area closes at 9. For the money we spend staying there they should stay open later. The only night life you have at the hotel is there tiny casino, or expensive restaurants that are open till 11. The lobby bar is till 12 but that is also very small. What also got me aggravated was when we first got there the concierge didn't even know the hours of operation of there restaurants or outside bars. There was a lot of miscommunication in the hotel. No one really seemed no anything other than their specified job. And being in hotels/restaurants myself I would want my employees to know information like that. But all in all, this was a beautiful resort. Almost surreal when coming from the harsh winters in Boston!

Paradise on a Beautiful Island

Posted Apr 28, 2015
The entire resort from entrance to waterfront is one of the most exquisite sites you can imagine. The pictures hotels and resorts typically place online in order to attract guests often times fail upon your personal encounter. I traveled with my wife and two children and there was fun and accommodations throughout the resort that was there to please the whole family. The staff was more then attentive and professional the whole time and made our stay feel like a second home, only with a beachfront and poolside view. Highly recommended if you're looking for one place to relax and enjoy a nice week's vacation in the sun.

First Time To Puerto Rico

Posted Apr 25, 2015
My husband and I stayed at the Wyndham Rio Mar for our 25th wedding anniversary. The Wyndham is on the East side of the island very close to the jungle national park (which was right across the highway) and water tours. Old San Juan is on the West side of the island and close to the airport. The Wyndham is off 3 highway which is one of the main highways that run through PR. It sits on the ocean approximately 3.5 miles back off of 3 highway. So if you plan to leave the motel you will have to take a cab which would cost 30.00 round trip or you can rent a car for 100.00 a day. I would suggest renting a car when you book your trip or when you get to the airport. Otherwise, the rental car company will chage you an extra 67.00 to drop your car off at the airport before flying out. The food is good but expensive. We rented a car and went out to the local eating areas. The locals are very nice, bilingual, and willing to give suggestions and directions. If your looking for cheap souvenirs, drinks, food you will not find that. Everything is imported. I would recommend taking all the tours you can. PR is absolutely beautiful and full of activity and natural beauty to explore-caves, glowing bay, fishing, snorkling, fort ruins, waterfalls, jungle and more!! The Wyndham will have a list of tours, phone numbers, and directions. They will not assist you with booking tours. It is your responsibility to call and book yourself. So again book the tours before leaving home.

Ok hotel with a beach and pool but do not recomend

Posted Apr 23, 2015
Hotel was nice but not worth the money. if you plan on going here you need to rent a car!! But beware... 15$ daily parking fee! Food on resort is 2 star quality with 5 star price! Basic hamburger =14$... Small piña colada =10$ (tips not included). I would wait till this resort has the new margaritaville pool and west wing complete. They also need to look at there prices or make this an all inclusive resort. We loved our vacation but would tell anyone to beware of the extra costs every turn you take! Nice staff/helpful! Wonderful pool and beach!

Staff can be more nice. Hotel resort doesn't accept any cash for the restaurants. Food was not good at all. They had no way to heat your food. A little more compassion to the guests. Some of the staff walked right by without asking for service.
