In midst of renovation but still very nicePosted Dec 14, 2014
Pros: People, Grounds, beach and location outside the city.
Cons: Resort is currently being "renovated" but still quite nice.
Location: See my comments above
The people and rooms , grounds and restaurants were very nice. The location is great if you want to be outside the city on the beach but accessible in 30 min drive to San Juan. Need a car to get around. Extremely close to the rain forest which is well worth the short trip. Many nice local restaurants and several great restaurants in San Juan which a car allows you to access. If you take the opportunity to visit their sales room for a "reward" be aware that they are a bit aggressive. This is entirely optional so should not detract from the resort- just a warning. By being outside the city have access to a very nice beach as well with a car to many sites the island has to offer. Enjoy.

Great hotel, Bad locationPosted Dec 13, 2014
Staff is great And hotel is beautiful. But location is not near anything. No local food is served at hotel. No vending machines. Only way to get off resort is by cab and cab rides are VERY pricey. Took a cab to a restaurant literally right off resort just to pick up take out and it cost $20.00. The price of a regular size water bottle is 4.00.

Very nice hotelPosted Dec 12, 2014
Cons: If they can make it as all inclusive hotel it would be the best place to go on vacation.
Location: About 30 minutes from airport, nice beach, a little long walk to get to the closes stores.
We just went there for few days and had a good time. The hotel is very elegant and comfortable.

Great resort on the beachPosted Dec 10, 2014
Pros: I like the resort grounds and the beach plus the two swimming pools. (one family pool and one for adults only) Rooms have just been updated.
Cons: Maintenance to the grounds and the hotel could improve. (ex: there was oil puddled in the parking garage elevator for days..People tracked the oil in
Location: The resort is near the rain forest so is pretty isolated, but I like that. You need to book trips from resort or rent a car.
I love the beach at this resort. It is on a pretty long beach so I could take some nice long walks/jogs by the ocean. (Very relaxing and it was almost therapeutic.) The resort is quite isolated so you need to rent a car to experience Puerto Rico, unless you are happy with just golfing and the other resort activities. Food and drink is pretty expensive at the resort (ex: $4. for a small bottle of water) The rooms at the resort have just been updated so the prior issues with getting the room the right temperature is now a non-issue. (in the past you had to turn the a/c off at night or the room would freeze.) Now if you set the a/c to 72 degrees it stays at that temperature. I was pleased with this. The waves at the beach were pretty large during my stay (knocked me down a couple times) so may be a concern if younger kids were going in. (Although during other stays there, the waves haven't always been that large.)

Sehr schöne AnlagePosted Dec 7, 2014
Pros: Die Anlage
Cons: AC Die Raumluft muss trockener werden.
Location: Am Strand Nationalparks
Die AC war nicht ausreichend. Alles fühlte sich feucht bis sehr feucht an. Vor allem das Bettzeug.

The hotel and staff are great! The food is not!!!Posted Dec 7, 2014
Our room was cleaned early everyday which is what I like in a hotel. The staff went out of their way for whatever you needed which was wonderful. The only bad thing about the resort was the food. It was not good at all and was sooooo overpriced!

Great view all aroundPosted Dec 6, 2014
Very friendly and knowledge staff. Directions to local attractions are spot on. Great location to get around. Only issue at first was screaming baby at all hours. They fixed that by moving us to another room. Btw who takes an infant on vacation

Not what expected!!!!Posted Dec 5, 2014
the hotel doesn't have anything to do for the kids, if there r not in the pool or beach nothing else available. The kids club house was close. The Picture look better. We went to eat n waitress pass by n don't offer any service we had to ask. Order food to the room wait 2 hours call to follow up, said they give my food to someone else n there was no more. food to expensive n not good. Poor service. The room was all w dust, had to call housekeeping. For what u pay is better to go to Dominican republic.

It has gone downhill a bit...Posted Dec 1, 2014
Pros: The location between the beach and the rainforest.
Cons: 1) Pay-per-view movies working in the rooms. 2) Hot tub getting above 89 degrees. 3) Later pool hours. Beach bar open past 6.
Location: Beach. Rainforest. Canopy ziplining. Horseback riding. Bioluminescent bay.
We came to Rio Mar for 8 days over Thanksgiving week. This was our third visit to Rio Mar in the last decade. We have loved this place for many reasons. The hustle and bustle of San Juan is not our style. We prefer long expanses of beach where there is space for some solitude. However, while my wife could sit around the beach or pool all week sipping mojitos, I get bored and soon want some adventure. That makes Rio Mar ideal. Situated at the foot of El Yunque and the rainforest, the hotel offers easy access to hiking, waterfalls, and an amazing variety of plant and animal life. I was up there 3 times to hike and take pictures. The proximity to the rainforest also means proximity to many other activities, including horseback riding (either on the beach or the foothills of El Yunque), canopy zipline experiences, and others that were less of interest to us (e.g., ATV). Rio Mar is also about 25 minutes from one of the 3 bioluminescent bays in Puerto Rico… truly one of the natural wonders of the world. If you are staying here, it is a good idea to rent a car. The parking is $20/day, but you will save by not relying on hotel transportation, which is $40/person to the local sights, and will save on less expensive restaurants off the hotel grounds. Unfortunately, this time around, there were many small glitches that all suggested problems in hotel management (e.g., movies & hot tubs broken for the 8 days we were there, running out of towels at the pool many times, etc., etc.).
