Perfect for the pricePosted Dec 3, 2013
Pros: The staff, smiling attendants everywhere. The courtyard is so beautiful and quaint, we should have made use of it for a little breakfast.
Cons: Too thin pillows.
Location: A block and a half to the beach and more restaurants than you could hit in a long weekend are right outside the front door.
Casa Dona stood out primarily because of the staff who were exceptionally friendly and helpful. I think it's tough to stand out as being friendly or helpful in this neighborhood (everybody is both around here) but they definitely did stand out. Given the price of the hotel I really cant complain but I do want to itemize a couple things: The bed was comfortable while the pillows were a little flimsy. The bathroom was pretty tiny. I can't imagine an overweight person having an easy time in the shower. It was definitely not a shower for 2 at any size. Mind you there were larger rooms available. We had a regular guestroom with a king bed. The room was clean and the towel animals greeting us each day were sweet. You can tell they take a lot of pride in their work and the staff always had a smile. I would stay at this or any of their sister hotels again without a doubt.

Great Budget HotelPosted Nov 27, 2013
Pros: The staff, the cleanliness and location, location, location.
We stayed at Casa Dona Susana for three nights at the end of our stay in Puerto Vallarta. Although this hotel is old, it was clean and very comfortable. It is associated with Los Arcos. The beach is about one block away, as are many restaurants. The rooms are small. We had a room with a fridge. No balcony, but the rooftop pool area was very nice to sit at. There is free wi-fi, which worked well. Even in our room. This small boutique hotel was a very nice find.

Great boutique hotel, one block from the beachPosted Nov 16, 2013
Pros: The hotel is quiet with no children, we loved the pool area and our balcony - room 106 (smaller room though), very quaint, great location.
Cons: For the price paid, the hotel was great. Some rooms are smaller than others, but realistically you don't spend time in the room anyway
Location: In the romantic zone, lots of great restaurants, small bars (not too noisy), one block from the beach, close to local bus routes, 25 mins to airport
Just returned from a wonderful stay. The hotel is a quaint, boutique style hotel with lots of charm. Some rooms don't have balconies. Ours didn't, (room 111) but it was a large room with two big windows and a king bed. We upgraded halfway through the stay (due to availability) to a room 106 with a really large balcony - space for two loungers, a table with 4 chairs and 2 bucket style chairs and lots of plants, however the room was smaller - one queen bed (which they informed us of). The upgrade was only $5US per day. Included are the facilities of their two sister hotels (pools and entertainment and activities). We didn't use these, but did use their free beach towel option each day. The hotel has a courtyard in the middle and a huge tree growing up to the rooftop pool that provides shade around the patio and pool area. Very unique! The pool and patio area is a good size for the hotel. We spent one day at the pool - not a lot of breeze on a hot day, but great views and very relaxing. If you are looking for a chilled out, laid back hotel with a distinct Mexican feel then this for you. It is definitely not a large all inclusive hotel with fancy amenities. We had a great time

Pros: After three hotels in three cities near Puerto Vallerta, this hotel had the best beds and pillows, and coldest A/C!
Cons: we stayed here at two different parts of our trip. the first room was roomy and the second room had to much furniture and felt tight.
Location: Everything we needed or wanted was close and in walking distance. favorite bakery, tacos and jewerly store;Cassandra Shaw within three blocks.
I would be happy to stay here again, the staff was exceptional, the rooftop pool and patio great. The hotel was initally hard to find, not being familiar with driving in the city, but I was gald it was tucked away in a quite dead-end street.

Old Mexico romance!Posted Sep 10, 2013
Pros: The decor set the flavor of our stay: flowers, plants, tile & wrought iron work transported us to Old Mexico which we loved AND the rooftop pool, too
Cons: Our room phone did not allow outgoing calls (only incoming calls)--but the front desk was very accommodating & made the few outgoing calls for us
Location: The location is at the end of a street--making it quiet and somewhat secluded, very nice. We were within walking distance to everything!
The hotel was small & beautifully decorated - like staying in a large beautifully appointed hacienda. Had the flavor of Old Mexico but with a wonderful roof top pool surrounded by beautiful flowering plants. The open courtyard with the huge tree was magnificient and we could hear & see the rain at night--enchanting! The location was fabulous--we were in walking distance to everything: the ocean, wonderful restaurants, the boadwalk and shopping. We loved it all. The hotel is at the end of a cul-de-sac which makes it away from traffic and quiet and somewhat secluded. I loved that we didn't stay in a huge "Americanized" resort. This was perfect!

Nice hotel BUT with very bad plumbing...very noisyPosted Aug 21, 2013
Pros: Nice, quaint decor...very green/beautiful stairs/lobby area.
Cons: Plumbing is horrible! It needs MAJOR improvement. You can hear every flush and water faucets turned on above you LOUDLY!
Location: Lots f restaurants, spas, etc. Just a block from the beach.
It's a very nice hotel BUT it has out-dated plumbing...you can hear every flush and water faucets turned on above you very loudly. I specifically asked to have a room reserved away from noisy area and instead they booked me next to the elevator and near the main road/entrance. I understand it is not guaranteed that you get what you requested when you book your hotel on Expedia.com BUT we were the only guests in the entire floor...there were many empty rooms the whole time we were there.

Great price/location. Would return in a heartbeat.Posted Aug 13, 2013 on Hotels.com
This place was great, got an AMAZING deal. It's a very cute hotel with a nice rooftop pool and area to read a book or tan. The location is so close to the beach it's not worth paying more to be on the beach; plus you can use the main hotel (Los Arcos) towel service and beach when you stay here. We had folded animal towels every day with housekeeping and chocolates most of the time too. Our room was on the top floor and there was some nasty smell coming from the washroom (or window outside?). My partner and I for the life of us couldn't figure out where it was coming from so we would just shut the door while we were sleeping. We could have asked to change rooms but we couldn't be bothered and we were there 8 nights. This is the only reason I give this place a 4/5 star rating. Other than that it's great and I would return and recommend this place to anyone and everyone.

The rooms were always clean. Staff was very attentive, location is perfect for a local experience. The only we had is one of our rooms was not ready upon arrival. Overall awesome experience. This is a must stay place.
