Older hotel but clean and a great staff.Posted Apr 4, 2015
We enjoy being near the downtown area and if you speak a little Spanish and are tired of the resort's it is a great place to be . There are numerous fair to excellent restaurants within walking distance and near a nice beach

Hotel El Pescador. Puerto ValartaPosted Mar 30, 2015

Small hotel in middle of city with nice beachPosted Mar 9, 2015
Cons: The food service was sometimes slow especially in the mornings and evenings
Location: The Malecon was only a few blocks and there were lots of restaurants however you felt almost in a residential neighbourhood.
We enjoyed our stay as the beach and the busy shops were both close . It was friendly and clean and we felt safe and cared for.

Old town beach front hotelPosted Mar 2, 2015
Pros: Pleasant staff, close to center, lots of restaurants etc., ocean view rooms without breakingthe bank.
Cons: Handrail to enter pool!
Location: 5 blocks to the Malecon, can walk to the Rio Cuale and Romantic zone. Lots of great restaurants in PV, and great massages for 1/4 the price in USA .
I have stayed at El Pescador before. It is in old town, close to the Malecon. The staff is peasant. the rooms large and were recently repainted. I like being close to everything and among the Mexicans. I don't enjoy being in the large fancy hotels where only English is spoken. Near the Pescador there is a small restaurant that serves FRESH squeezed o j for about $2 for a 12 oz glass. There are smiles all around, and everyone says buenas dias. And the price is right.

Noisey being on the street. Helpful staff. Restaurant food good. Location excellent. I will stay there again.

2-nite stay at El Pescador HotelPosted Feb 22, 2015
Pros: See the above...
Cons: The rooms are slightly outdated...old TV, original remotes for our TV and AC didn't work and the bathroom could be modernized.
Location: Location is steps away from the Malecon...lots of restaurants, bars and clubs! And El Pescador is on the beach for a great walk!
Enjoyed our time there...room was modest, very "Mexican" with no "extras". However, the staff was very accommodating and spoke English very well. Had snacks, drinks and 2 meals at the restaurant and everything was great!! For the price and the location in Puerto Vallarta, it's an "undiscovered gem"!!! We'll definitely go back!

Quaint older hotel near the heart of the actionPosted Feb 20, 2015 on Hotels.com
We chose the El Pescador in order to be close to the Malacon. It was an easy walk from the hotel to the restaurants and action of the area and just a little bit further to walk over the bridge and into the old town. The hotel itself is not luxurious but charming in an old style Mexican fashion. Our room was not fancy but clean and had a great view out over the ocean. We enjoyed watching the evening fireworks and visiting with our next door neighbors from our balcony. We only ate one breakfast and one supper in the restaurant because there are so many good restaurants nearby. The staff was very friendly and we enjoyed the twice daily happy hour by the poolside. We met many couples there who had been coming back to the El Pescador for 10 years or more and we would likely go back there ourselves,.
