Hotel in walking distance to restaurants.Posted Apr 19, 2015
Pros: Close to beach, excellent restaurant downstairs.
Cons: I saw no problems.
Location: Restaurants, bars, beach and taxi can be at hotel in minutes.
My maid (Isabella) was exceptional, such a lovely lady. She hugged me on my last day and indicated she would miss me.

Nice ocean view.Posted Apr 18, 2015
Pros: Only the view.
Cons: It needs complete refurbishing.l
Location: Nice beach, lots of restaurants.
The place smelled from sewer gases. Every thing else was in poor condition. Clean bath towels every day. No wash cloths or hand towels. Almost no furniture. Appliances were very old, refrigerator rusty but functional, stove very old and looked like it hadn't been used in years.

Location, locationPosted Apr 17, 2015
Cons: We changed rooms because the first kitchen needed updating. Some rooms are much nicer than others.
For us this was the perfect location. Breakfast on the balcony while watching the beach come alive. The beach was great, although it is better to go south on the beach to find the best spot for friendly cheap drinks and food. You can walk to numerous restaurants and listen to music or dance at various spots. The front desk staff were helpful. The kitchen and utensils weren't the best. The bed was very comfy though we asked for a blanket. Although the rooftop sunning deck is nice, the only real downside for us was that there isn't a pool. It is a good value in a good location. We will probably return.

Great location if you like busyPosted Apr 12, 2015
Pros: Great ocean view right on the beach. Extremely clean and friendly staff.
Cons: Sound proof rooms. We did not like the noise from the beach (brass bands and partying late at night)
Location: Easy walking distance to many restaurants and the boardwalk. Many markets to explore. If you like busy and exploring this place is for you.
My sister in law and I stayed here for a week as we wanted to experience the area. We had a great time exploring all the side streets and lanes and came across some great treasures while doing so. The food available nearby was delicious and affordable. One thing we didn't like was the constant noise. The rooms are not soundproof so crying children, coughing, and talking from adjacent rooms was as if the other guests were in our room. Noise from the beach at night was loud even from our top floor room. thankfully earplugs worn at night helped us sleep. Aside from the noise we enjoyed our stay as the staff was friendly and the hotel very clean.

Photos MisleadingPosted Apr 10, 2015
Pros: The mattresses were firm, the rooms were clean, and the hotel staff was friendly.
Cons: It needs to be pointed out to prospective guests that half of the rooms are small, dark, noisy, and not at all pleasant.
Location: The location is great! There is much to do on La Playa Los Muertos, and the hotel is adjacent to the pier if travelers want to take boat tours.
Our family booked three rooms for a week in Puerto Vallarta. The photographs we viewed made the rooms look colorful, sunny, and pleasing. This was not what we found when we checked into our rooms. All three rooms were small, dark, and lacking artwork of any sort. Half of the room in this hotel are large, have a deck, and face the beach. The other half are small, do not have a deck, and face the street. All three of our rooms faced the street. Your chances of getting a decent room are 50/50. Instead of a closet or dresser, our rooms had plywood shelves to hold our belongings. There was no safe in the room, so we carried all our valuables with us at all times. At night the street below was extremely noisy and kept all of us awake until 2:00 in the morning. There are absolutely no amenities at this hotel. There wasn't even complimentary shampoo or lotion! The adjoining restaurant on the beach, Si Senor, was overpriced, and the drinks were watered-down. They made a great production of pouring the drinks from the bottle in front of us, but my gin and tonics didn't even have the typical juniper aroma to them. On the plus side, the rooms were clean, the mattresses were firm, and our maid was very creative making animals out of our towels each day. The staff at the front desk was friendly. We have stayed at several hotels on La Playa Los Muertos in recent years, and this is the first time we have been disappointed with our hotel.

Overall I am very pleased...once again with the Emperador Hotel Vallarta.

Friendly staff, quaint and perfect for our family.Posted Mar 23, 2015
Pros: Location, friendly staff, cost effective.
Cons: If the hotel had its own beach section with umbrellas and loungers for the guests. We ended up buying an umbrella from a local and leaving it there.
Location: Walking distance to restaurants, shopping, and all around downtown area. We loved grabbing tacos and fresh ceviche from the locals at nearby stands.
We stayed in the Oceanview Suite that had an outdoor kitchen on the balcony and it was great. The view was gorgeous and we were steps away from the beach. The hotel staff was extremely friendly (especially Ian) and our room was cleaned daily. For our family vacation we wanted to stay in the heart of Puerto Vallarta and experience the culture and this was a perfect selection for this type of getaway. We walked all over downtown, to the super market, and shopping. The location was safe and there was plenty to walk around and see. We would certainly return again.
