All-Inclusive-Beach-Hotel - near to the cityPosted Dec 18, 2014
We already spent our vacation at the Fiesta Americana Puerto Vallarta in November 2010. And because we liked it so much, we have now booked this hotel again, again without any catering. But in the meantime it changed to an 'All-Inclusive-and-Spa'. Unfortunately, this has a negative impact on the whole atmosphere. Music is being played from morning to night, always the same 4 or 5 songs. When leaving the hotel you will be asked where to go - if you would not prefer to visit this or that show. The all-inclusive guests swim with their cocktails through the pool and eat right on the beach - are even encouraged to it. Therefore tables and sunbeds are not always quite clean. The breakfast buffet is good, but does not have the same quality like 4 years ago. Finally,a special compliment to the chamber maids: as soon as you leave the room for only 30 minutes, it will be cleaned more than properly in the meantime! All in all, even though we like the resort and the rooms with their exciting view, we will not come back.

Great Hotel!!Posted Dec 15, 2014
This hotel is a must for people wanting a great hotel in Puerto Vallarta. The staff were brilliant and exceeded our expectations, nothing was too much trouble for them to make our stay enjoyable. For those travelling with kids, the children's club here is great, plenty for them to do and again the staff there are great! Our room was spacious with comfortable beds. The pool at the hotel is the best pool I've ever seen and the waiters are really friendly and good fun. The restaurants are Set up nicely with lots of variety on the menu, and the food is top draw, everything we ate was cooked perfectly. Overall it has been a great experience for us and we will be definitely returning next year

Friendly staffPosted Dec 11, 2014
Pros: The fact that it is not a "party" hotel. The pool is a place to just relax and unwind.
Cons: The hotel just became all-inclusive so a little updating is necessary (e.g. some tiles are missing in the pool).
Location: The hotel is a quick taxi ride to downtown or the marina area. There is also a small shopping mall less than a block away.
This hotel just became all-inclusive and since we had booked before that happended, we were not on the all-inclusive plan. That being said I'm not sure how it will work as an all-inclusive as it is a small property. We did have the breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets on occasion and the food was very well prepared and tasty. We did not, however, get a chance to try the 3 restaurants (italian, mexican and asian) and we did not go to the ceviche bar as we don't eat that kind of food. I was told there was an hour wait to get into the mexican restaurant, but after looking at their menu did not see anything in particular I wanted to try so we wouldn't have waited anyway. The pool grill has very tasty hamburgers, ribs, nachos and wings. Kudos to the hotel for putting in a great salad bar with something different every day. Although the property is small the employees of this hotel make it special. We have been coming here for Thanksgiving the last 6 years (as have 3 couples we know) and its all about the employees. They make you feel like family and everyone remembers your name from year to year. I can't wait to return next year.

DisappointedPosted Dec 11, 2014
Cons: beds were hard, customer service
Location: 100 pesos/10 min to downtown
Hotel grounds and room were decent, the hotel is making improvements all around. We booked pre-all inclusive and stayed on the European plan during our trip (except for 1 day) and the service was non-existent. Like, not even a hello when we walked by or not asked how our stay was at check-out. We could not buy anything from the restaurants (only option was to pay $24 USD each for buffet) and had to cab into town for all our meals- originally we had planned to do eat on site for some meals, in town for others. We purchased the all inclusive upgrade for 1 day and the food was terrible. For the same price, we purchased a day pass for the secrets resort down the road and had a luxury day with amazing food & fun activities. The hotel has a weird no-outside food policy, so you have to smuggle in lunch if you want to eat it in your room. Hated that. Also, beware of some staff, they will try to push timeshare stuff on you by offering free food. Just the overall vibe of the place was depressing.

Beautiful location, but needs some maintenance.Posted Dec 9, 2014
Pros: Staff is very competent and the view from the room is spectacular. The beach is beautiful
Cons: Rooms are old and the music on the beach and pool too loud and repetitive. I never want to hear "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" again in my lifetime.
We have been coming to this hotel for many years. The staff is like a family who welcome you and make you feel at home. The hotel recently converted to all- inclusive, which is not to our taste, resulting in a reliance on buffets, and deleting the previous menu selections. The quality of the drinks also suffered, but the staff did remake the drinks if you complained. The spa is first class, but over priced.

Another great stay...but...Posted Dec 7, 2014
Pros: Each room offers a view of the bay, particularly on higher floors. The rooms and facilities are spotless and well-appointed. Great hotel staff!
Cons: Make all-inclusive plan optional. Consider breakfast only meal plan.
Location: Great location, about midway between downtown and the marina. Beautiful wide beach with gentle surf and ever-changing parade of vendors and tourists.
We just returned from our fourth stay at the Puerto Vallarta Fiesta Americana. Two weeks under the warm Mexican sun does wonders for the soul. This hotel has become our home away from home in Puerto Vallarta. The hotel personnel could not have made our stay any better with their sincere smiles and efforts to see to our comfort. We are particularly grateful to waiters Carlos and Rafael at the beach and Carlos the concierge whose friendliness and service contributed much toward making our stay memorable. One of the great attractions of our visits to PV is the opportunity to sample the great cuisine at the many and varied restaurants throughout the city. Each trip we discover a few more to add to our list of those to which we intend to make a return visit. Unfortunately, the hotel management has decided to make the Fiesta Americana mandatory all-inclusive. While the hotel restaurants provide fair to good meals (it was our impression that the food and drink quality has slipped a bit since the all-inclusive plan was introduced), we would not wish pay extra to eat every meal on site. Many other visitors with whom we spoke felt the same way. With regret, we (and others) expect that we will not return as long as the all-inclusive plan is mandatory. This management decision may serve some well, but for many of those who have returned to the Fiesta Americana year after year, this new policy will force us to find accommodation elsewhere.

Great Value HotelPosted Dec 7, 2014
Pros: The food options and service.
Cons: Warmer buffet food for dinner and lunch.
We just stayed at this hotel for a week. Overall, the rooms were clean, the food amenities were great since there are so many options and the hotel staff was very nice. The only recommendation I have is for the staff to make the buffet chaffing holders hotter by adding two burners per container. Sometimes the buffet food was too cold. The amount of food available and great service made up for it.

Nice beach-lots palm trees-good food-hard mattressPosted Dec 7, 2014
Pros: Lots of palm trees and the ocean view from our 6th floor room was beautiful - pretty good food too!
Cons: Change the mattresses and talk to the hotel next door.!
Location: Fantastic birding along the river across the street
All very nice, except that it was very difficult to sleep because the mattress was too hard and there was too much noise coming from the hotel next door (very loud disco going on most of the night) - Any recommendations to friends etc, would include a description of the very hard mattress and to be sure to bring ear plugs!
