“Charming Hotel”

Although I only stayed one night I really liked the hotel. It wasn't the Barcelo where I had spent 8 days but I found it very charming and the location is great. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I also liked the decor of the hotel and the rooms. Each room is named after a Mexican song aside from the room number. I wouldn't think twice about recommending it but keepin mind it's a small hotel so it's not going to have resort ammenities but it more then makes up for it with personality and location.

“Quaint and beautiful!”

Quaint hotel, great location, very helpful and warm staff. Super impressed with the all natural soap...what can I say, it's the little things :) The Malecon is just 2 blocks away, so the beach was easy to get to, and they provided us with beach chairs at another hotel/restaurant. The murals on the walls are beautiful and the rooftop patio was a great place to drink our morning coffee and do some yoga. I would definitely consider returning!

“Good Value, Great Customer Service!”

For the price we paid through Expedia, Hotel Catedral was a very good value. It is in between the Downtown and the Romantic Zone, about three blocks from the water. The grounds were nice, and our rooms were adequate; pretty much what I expected. The only real downside of the hotel itself was that the water pressure was terrible, but we were able to deal with it. Our main problem was not the fault of the hotel at all... it was the bells of the cathedral ringing all night long. Either drink a lot before you go to bed or bring ear plugs! The thing that will forever stick in my mind about the Hotel Catedral, however, is the customer service. The housekeepers and front desk people were very friendly and helpful but one particular predicament we had put them over the top...We were about to check in to our flight at the airport when my wife realized that she had left her wallet in the safe with her ID, credit card, etc. We probably would not have had enough time to catch a taxi back to the hotel then back again to the airport and still make our flight. After calling the hotel and the manager finding the wallet, he OFFERED to personally bring it to us at the airport. Half an hour later the manager arrived by taxi and we had our wallet. He didn't want any compensation, but we of course paid his cab fare and gave him a generous tip. Customer service such as this, especially in a foreign country, will keep us coming back to Puerto Vallarta, and the Hotel Catedral.

“Great location, charming, comfortable and friendly”

Hotel Catedral is a perfect location for adventure seeking travlers. The hotel is super charming, clean, quaint, comfortable and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was perfectly cleaned everyday. The little courtyard was a great space to sit and sip fresh coffee in the morning. The hotel welcomed us with beautifully painted murals and holiday decorations. Loved everything about this hotel and I will definitely stay again!

“A romantic hotel in old-town Vallarta”

What a nice hotel! First of all, the Hotel Catedral is located in the heart of old town Vallarta just three blocks from the ocean. The rooms are an older style but, have flat screen TV's, the major networks in English, good air conditioning and a good mattress. The rooms and the entire hotel is very clean. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. I've stayed there three times and, will be back again..

“Loved everything about this hotel!”

Perfect location. Spent a week here with friends and had absolutely no complaints. The staff was very accommodating and always had a smile and greeting for everyone. Beds were comfortable and room was cleaned nicely each day. Would definately return.

“Clean, Colorful, Comfortable, and Serene Oasis”

This place is a superb, serene oasis. With only 21 unique, comfortable, colorful rooms and perfect location about a block from the Malecon (seaside stroll), near Old Town and a block from the iconic Catedral. Just came back from our third year in a row coming to this fine gem. Add in a truly wonderful staff and easy, safe access to Downtown Vallarta, where everything is an easy stroll or a short cheap (6 pesos!) bargain. The only complaint Jenifer and I have is that we never seem to stay long enough.

“Authentic and small downtown hotel”

Nicely decorated, and with lots of plants in the courtyard this is a cute and small hotel with very helpful and friendly staff and clean rooms. As other reviewers have noted, there can be some noise from the streets outside, but we did not find this a big issue and it didn't interfere with our sleep in any way. Super quiet air-conditioning. Close to lots of restaurants and in an authentic downtown area, this hotel is for people who prefer genuine Mexican over huge corporate American style places... We will definitely return here.

“Great Location, Friendly Service”

My partner and I checked reviews on other websites and they were fairly accurate. The location is just steps from old vallarta and the malecon (which is under construction), the hotel is kind of right in between both. We received a free upgrade when we got there because the hotel wasn't that busy, very considerate of the manager who was very very helpful. They cleaned the room everyday, it's a mexican boutique style hotel that is very secure. It's no ritz carlton, but for the price it's is very good. Last year we stayed at Hotel Portonovo which is new and further away from the old town. It was nice, clean but noisy and not the best location for trying to enjoy the bext of PVR.
