Pros: It was a nice escape from the big resort hotels
Cons: beds are small and a little hard and sometimes had trouble getting hot water
Location: location was excellent. Short walk to Malecon. Bus stop very close. Shops, stores and restaurants nearby
Had a wonderful stay. Very friendly staff, and especially enjoyed free WIFI Bed was a little hard, and the church bells rang often. Still was able to sleep ok

Memorable!

The Hotel Catedral was beautiful in a quaint and authentic way. It was conveniently located to El Centro Historico and to the Malecon. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay there again and will tell others about it.

nice little hotel in great location

Posted Mar 21, 2014
Pros: Charming decor, great location
Cons: Better communication when guests send advance emails with questions, move the sink out of the shower in room #20 -- there is plenty of room to do that
Location: Great location, close to beach and perfect spot on the malecon next to the Rio Cuale bridge/Romantic Zone. Great restaurant, Coexist, one block up.
Just two blocks from the beach and in a great spot just over the malecon from the Romantic Zone and next to the Isla Cuale, everything we needed was within walking distance. The hotel is sweet and cute. Problem was the sink was in our shower and this was very inconvenient with two people sharing a room. We asked for another room but were told none were available. That was disappointing being that I am Expedia elite customer and we were in town for business. I had booked two rooms in the hotel, by the way, one for the video crew traveling with us. Their room was very nice. I had emailed the hotel far in advance to let them know of our needs but did not get any response - -also disappointing. Still, we liked the hotel, although I don't know if we'll return if we can't get any response from them or assurance we won't get the same room again (#20 by the way).

Nice hotel downton at a good price

Posted Mar 15, 2014
Pros: Localisation, cost, meals and staff.
Cons: Window and curtains in the rooms on the side of the street.
Location: Downton close to the sea.
Staff very friendly. Old building renovated very sympatic. Good meals.. The room on the street is very noisy and light of the come in The window should be changed for a sealed one and thicker curtains installed..

Pros: location, people, charm
Location: see above
The hotel is centrally located, close to the main boardwalk, stores, markets, restaurants, bus lines so we basically walked everywhere and took bus the best beaches. It's very reasonably priced, clean, great staff, unpretentious, comfortable and has charm.

Convent and classic hotel

Posted Feb 2, 2014
Pros: Boutique style. Bright colours, traditional bedding, wrought iron windows all provided the Mexican charm we were looking for. The roof top patio.
Location: We ate at a restaurant called Sandys, by the church. Seriously good food. Traditional Mexican food, and they make fresh juice which was to die for.
We choose this hotel after looking for a change from our week in an all inclusive Neuvo Vallarta resort. This was the perfect choice. Two blocks west of the beach, two blocks north of the river and 3 blocks south of the church. Easy to walk to all locations. Staff were very friendly offering us our room earlier and letting us choose a room away from the busy street. They also had suggestions for shopping and food which were all fantastic suggestions we were pleased with. Free wifi and coffee. Windows were old and wrought iron single pane so they let in a lot of the street noise. ac worked very efficiently. Beds were firm. They will offer guests a hospitality room to shower before your flight home and will hold your bags after you have checked out. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and if you are looking to experience and explore the city. This is the place.

Easy overnight stay

Posted Feb 2, 2014
Close to the airport, with a free shuttle every half an hour. Free wifi and breakfast. Staff are very fast and efficient as they recognize most of the guests are on their way to catch a flight. My first choice to overnight during travel at YVR.

The best way to begin exploring Puerto Vallarta

Posted Jan 27, 2014
Pros: It is a quiet place with good staff support in the right place to explore Puerto Vallarfa. Comfortable and cozy botique hotel. Loved all the art.
Cons: Nothing. We loved it.
Location: Malecon, Market, Transportation, Cathedral, street life, shopping art shops, and good food.
We needed to get to know Puerto Vallarta before we decided where we wanted to settle down for the rest of our vacation. We found the Hotel Catedral Vallarta was perfect. It is close to everything and close to the public transportation to the rest of the area. It's close to the Malecon and the Flea Market and the old city and close to the Romantic zone. The Hotel staff was very helpful in making our vacation really comfortable and fun. We started with three days and added time because it was such a great place. By the way the restaurant on the beach that gives a 10% discount to Hotel Catedral residents became our favorite during our stay in Puerto Vallarta.

Very nice staff

Posted Dec 30, 2013
Pros: The staff were exceptionally pleasant and helpful.
Cons: If we had a longer stay we would opt for the room with kitchen facilities to have a fridge and probably opt for courtyard room for less noise.
Location: Excellent location if you want to be in town to shop and dine.
Central downtown hotel. Within walking distance of shops, restaurants, beach. Rooms are very clean. For the price we paid excellent value. Old building which has been updated and nicely decorated.
