We stayed in the suites section.....very spacious room, well equipped and well layed out. It did however n have a rather musty, closed up smell about it which took a little to get used to.

Excellent location, but strong mildew odors

Posted Apr 9, 2015
Pros: GREAT location, in the middle of EVERYTHING! not noisy because it's 1/2 block off Olas Altos. Front desk staff & maids were excellent. Pools are nice.
Cons: Need storage cabinets over kitchenette.Do something about lack of security on the balconies. Need lower bathroom sinks.Fix the A/C & get rid of mildew
Location: Jewellery stores! Good cotton clothing, now including plus sizes. Loads of restaurants all around. The new Pier on Los Muertos & strolling the Malecon
Mildew smell was so bad in first room I began to wheeze and I'm not asthmatic. Couldn't change room that night but the staff got a pool view junior suite the next day. Not quite as bad mildew smell. I asked for AC unit to be cleaned, (while I watched them scrape the crud off), which helped a bit more. Beds are hard, like most in PV. Kitchenette has no over-counter storage cabinets, has melamine dishes, minimal pots n pans, and a 2 burner hot plate, plus under-counter fridge.Linens washed in strongly scented soap, probably to cover odour. This is really too bad, because the junior suite was otherwise very clean. Bathroom sink was so high that I couldn't wash my face over the basin. They obviously installed a new granite sink unit directly on top of old mexican cement sink instead of removing the old. SECURITY a problem as all balconies are co-joined, with only hip-high pony wall between them. This means you cannot leave doors open to get night breezes, as you don't know who is in room next to you, and thus just use A/C all night. (doesn't help the smell). Mgmt said ALL 3 Los Arcos Properties have same mildewy smell. The smell even permeated my clothing in the closet. POOLs are great, as you can use the lovely rooftop pool at the Casa Dona Susanna across the lane, as well as the Playa los Arcos pools and beach palapas. Front desk staff and maids are all wonderful, however there's only so much they can do with such an outdated and old property, which needs a major renovation.

Great location.

Pros: Comfortable and quiet and the price is good.
Location: Located in the downtown area and everything is in walking distance. Just 2 blocks from the Malecon and that offers great exercise, restaurants, bars,
We really enjoyed the Los Arcos Suites. It is less than 2 blocks from the main pool and dining area, but it was very comfortable and quiet. The hotel is older but well maintained and the bed was very comfortable. We had a small kitchen area and a fridge which was great. Our room maid was Rosa and she did a very nice job for us and was very creative with the towels. Always fun to have little animals made out of towels! We spent most days at the beach area and the two staff people who set up chairs and umbrellas were both friendly and helpful--I can't remember their names. They work hard and always had a smile on their face. After watching them a few days, I don't think many people tip them for the efforts which is unfortunate. A special thanks to our waiter Estaban--he did a great job waiting on everyone and made our trip extra nice.

Going back in April.

Pros: Friendly and helpful staff. Great location. Comfy.
Cons: All good.
Location: Zona Romantica. The place to be in Puerto Vallarta. Great beach, great eats, music, friendly people. Don't miss seeing Los Bambinos at the Roxy.
While you are there, take advantage of the spa facility. The services are great. Great after a day at the beach.

GREAT location! Great budget hotel!

Posted Mar 6, 2015
My husband and I have stayed at casa Dona susana several times and loved the cute rooms amazing garden and rooftop pool. However, we have since had a child and can no longer stay there. So we decided to try the sister hotel across the street. It is similar, has kitchenettes/junior suites but lacks the charm. I would still recommend it, as the location can not be beat! But we found it to be filled with signs about 100% non smoking and along side smokers around the pool and on the balconies. Everyone was very nice and friendly, but I found it off putting. There is a small kids pool that our two year old LOVED in the courtyard, as long as we were comfortable with all the smokers around... It was fine for the three nights we stayed, but most likely won't return. The rooms are old but well kept and cleaned. The beds are hard but clean. For the budget price you should pay, it is very good!! We paid for the all inclusive as it was only 30$ more a day. It was worth it just for a few drinks and good breakfasts. It is all buffet which is hard to take but the food was good. Not worth more than 30$ (For 3 of us) though.

Perfect location, great stay.

This was my 2nd time staying at Los Arcos Suites, and I will be joining the many other travellers who return year after year for their vacations. This was my first solo trip and it was all I hoped it would be. The size and location of Los Arcos is perfect for an easy stay in old PV. It's a short stroll down the street to the beach, close to many wonderful restaurants and pop-ups for easy dining, yet a calm retreat at the end of the day or enjoying the morning coffee before heading out for the day. I found all of the staff, both at Los Arcos Suites and at Playa Los Arcos and the beach, to be very pleasant and helpful....sincere in helping you have the best experience. And it's comforting to reconnect with the same staff and vendors each year! Thanks for the memories!

Pros: Expedia
Cons: Decor could be updated.
Los Arcos Suites were in a great location in the center of the old town. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were basic but clean. We would stay here again.

Great location

Posted Feb 22, 2015
Pros: Quiet, balcony, comfort of the room,
Cons: Need to be aware that the restroom is tiny and not easy for older people. Site more for baby boomers and older people.
Location: Directly in the city and on the Malecon.
Enjoyed my 7 days in Puerto Vallarta. The Los Arcos suite is a quiet hotel a street from the beach. May use the 2 others Los Arcos Facilities.

In the heart of downtown

Posted Feb 11, 2015
Pros: The staff and the easy location to downtown and the malicon
Cons: People reserving umbrellas and chairs on the beach by tipping the staff, many chairs unused for the majority of the day. Drinks are available only if
Los Arcos suites is comfortable. The all inclusive means you get your buffet meals at the main hotel, a short walk towards the beach. The meals are mediocre at best. All meat dishes are some style of stew or have a sauce on them. Lots of pasta dishs. The salads and fruits are the only highlight. The 2 special meals you get are hohum!
