our intial selection was for a standard-european room... we we were introduced to a basic room with a dorm-room size refrigerater nestled in the closet with no kitchenette, althouygh we were staying for 12 days..., we immediately asked for an upgrade, with much help from the bell boy..., the upgrade given us was a room with two day-beds, decent kitchenette, but wiht an extremely small balcony, that did indeed face the ocean. We asked for another upgrade and received "a NYC-style penthouse room", ... very spacious and comforable adn with a jacuzzi, but which we could only have for 5 days wtih a $30.00 USD rate increase (which was anticipated). After our fifth day, we returned to the day bed room and dinky balcony.
Overall, our travels to other parts of Mexico, seemed to be anticipated - e.g., a Cozemel hotel received our interinary and placed us in their best room for the 10 days we were staying.... Los Tules seemingly could have done the same, but because we stated "standard room," we got what we asked for - a room and nothing else. Perhaps they could have read into our stay - 12 days, and perhaps commuicating would have been helpful, versus the seemingly no-nonsense repsonse: "standard - room -- room number so and so, 12 days. Next!
