Nuevo Vallarta resort with golf, zoo, shopping mall
Set on the northern shore of Banderas Bay, the all-suites Paradise Village Beach Resort and Spa is on a 274.5m (900-ft) stretch of sandy beach; a stream flows through the resort's 18-hole championship golf course.
Paradise Village Beach Resort and Spa has a marina, 1,858m (20,000-sq-ft) health spa, and large shopping mall; the zoo includes animals such as jaguars, macaws, and monkeys and offers daily open-air shows.
The 608 guestrooms in this Nuevo Vallarta resort are decorated with Mayan-inspired artwork and have rattan chairs and tile floors; full kitchens include microwaves, refrigerators, toasters, and blenders.
Lit by candles, aromatically scented, and graced by flute music, a 1,858m (20,000-sq-ft) health-and-beauty spa offers facials, body scrubs and wraps, Vichy showers, and bath therapies such as Mayan-milk and hydromassage. Massage options include raindrop aromatherapy, shiatsu, hot rock, and Reiki. A twin-bed room allows couples' massage. Massage is also available in an air-conditioned building on the beach with one-way, ocean-view windows. The spa's beauty salon offers hair and nail care, waxing, foot therapies, and scalp massage (surcharge for all spa services).
The spa's café serves healthful juices and foods; contains an expansive, air-conditioned fitness center equipped with cardio and weight machines as well as free weights; and provides Pilates, yoga, flex-ball, tai chi, chi-kung, tonatiuh, jazzercise, stretching, meditation, and aerobics classes. Personal training and computerized body analyses are also offered (surcharges). The resort's shopping mall also has a fitness center, which offers spinning classes (surcharges).
Located 138m (150 yds) from the Paradise Village Beach Resort and Spa's main entrance, the resort's air-conditioned shopping mall contains a supermarket and some 100 shops, boutiques, art galleries, and restaurants. Included are Internet centers, an electronic-games center, and a sports restaurant/bar that plays recorded music nightly for dancing.
A three-section zoo (one section at the golf course) includes Bengal tigers, jaguars, a mountain lion, monkeys, deer, a crocodile, badgers, a lynx, and birds such as owls, macaws, and toucans. Ostriches and peacocks roam freely around the grounds. Complimentary open-air animal shows are offered.
For surcharges, children age 4-11 enjoy half-day, full-day, and per-hour supervised activities in a large, air-conditioned clubhouse with an outdoor playground. (Playground equipment is also available on the beach.) Evening sessions with meals are offered twice weekly. Some evenings feature piñata parties. Complimentary adult activities include pool aerobics, bocce and Ping-Pong tournaments, and beach volleyball. Beach vendors selling clothing, jewelry, and crafts are confined to a large thatched-roof palapa. Ceramics painting is available at a poolside stand (surcharges).
A doctor maintains office hours at the hotel during the day and is on call 24 hours. Catholic Mass and non-denominational Protestant services are conducted Sunday mornings in the shopping mall or at the hotel. The beach resort purifies its water.
