Pros: Freindly staff. Clean rooms.
Cons: Outside rooms are noisy. Could use air conditioning in the outside rooms
Location: Several blocks walk to downtown but manageble. Modest restaurants with good food and markets nearby. Great bar next door. Neighborhood seems safe. Gre
The hotel is modest but very clean and safe. Bed was comfortable. Always had hot water. Somewhat noisy if you have an outside room.

Worth a look

Location was ok. It was a little farther from the beach I would have liked, but at least no hills. Staff is top notch. Hotel was convenient to everything. I can recommend it, even though it is old it is comfortable.

Rustic but friendly and clean, great value!

Posted Feb 20, 2015
Pros: Staff, beds were comfortable.
Location: Close to old town and the romantic zone. Close to markets on the riverwalk. 1/2 mile from the beach.
I found a package on Expedia for $500 including 4 nights lodging and airfare that included this hotel. It is about a 1/2 mile from the beach in a little more rustic part of the romantic zone, but very safe and right off the river walk. My room was on the 2nd floor right on the street, so was quite noisy, had to sleep with ear plugs. I went in February and didn't need to use the air conditioning - I believe it was available on request and possibly for additional $$. The rooms were beautifully decorated and had little balconies. Might be a little "rustic" but was very clean. Staff was VERY friendly, however VERY insistent that no visitors were allowed in the rooms. I would probably try to find something a little closer to the beach next time, just because of the noise and I like hearing the surf, but this was an INCREDIBLE value.

Decent basic room for price, plumbing could be better, but it's old and quaint and in the old centro. Be sure to see the view from the rooftop at night. Good place to spend the night at minimal expense before catching the bus south to melaque in the morning just around the corner three short blocks away. Staff are friendly and helpful, wifi works.

One significant issue

Posted Feb 8, 2015
This hotel has great authentic character. The staff were all terrific. The location is terrific. The one issue that is significant is the sound of the street, as well as the sounds of people in the hotel. Buses, trucks, people talking and yelling. Authentic, but not quiet. This is a hotel that makes you feel like you are part of Puerto Vallarta, not a tourist. That is a big positive. I wish it were quieter. There are a lot of little hotels similar to this one in the area and I would assume that they all have a similar sound issue.
