Nice Stay but in need of imporvementsPosted Nov 19, 2014
Pros: I like the grounds and views of Puerto Vallarte and the Bay
Cons: The rooms are in need of remodel and newer furniture. There is a foul odor in the 4806 wing. One Elevator not functional air cond not working.
Location: beaches, central Puerto Vallarte, shopping and great restaraunts.
The deluxe ocean view suite was not available at check in. They did up grade us to a larger suite but it had some things to be desired. The air conditioner in the room did not work. There was a faint foul odor in the room. The bed was comfortable but the rest of the furniture is old and cheap. The rooms are in need of remodel with nicer furniture. They did upgrade us to an even better location with in front of the ocean with spectacular views. The front desk staff did take care of us by upgrading the room but we had to pressure them a little to do so. Other than that it is a beautiful hotel, the grounds, pool and views are very beautiful.

Baby-Friendly Hotel!Posted Nov 19, 2014
Pros: see above.
Cons: This is a small resort, so only two restaurants and the variety/quality of food was the only thing I wasn't impressed with. It was good, not excellen
We took our first family vacation with our 13-month old daughter and chose Velas Vallarta as it seemed to e family-friendly, which was a huge priority for us. We stayed in a one bedroom suite and there was a crib provided for us (which was made up like a real bed with mini pillow! so sweet!). We put the crib in the living room, and the drapes work to shut off all light. So, when it came to nap and bed times, we had no problem leaving our daughter in there, and then we still had the bedroom and balcony to use for ourselves. The restaurants and wait staff are very baby-friendly as well. There are lots of food options, high chairs, and very understanding staff who didn't flinch when my daughter decided to clear her table herself (onto the floor) or babble loudly. The kids club is for ages 4-12, but there is a children's pool which our daughter could go in - it's 2 feet deep at its maximum. The club had tons of beach toys too, so we took a pail and some shovels out to the beach (which is right in front of the hotel), and spent a few hours there. The other pools also have spots where my daughter could wade safely in shallow areas. Finally, for our trip home, we flew out at 6 pm, but checkout time was 12 pm. I asked about late checkout so we could squeeze in another nap before heading to the airport, but our room was booked. So, the hotel offered a different studio room that was empty, brought a crib into it, and allowed us to use it that afternoon! AMAZING.

Great Place!Posted Nov 19, 2014
Overall this was a great experience. It was very clean, but here was some maintenance needed on the exterior of the building. Staff was very good! Bedding was awesome!

Location: By the beach. We walked to the marina
Wonderful hotel great staff, very plesent. Service with a smile. Only two resterants, one dress up the other casual by the beach. The waiters served you by the pool food or drink all you want. Just all around great resort to visit. It rained one of the days we were there and we still enjoyed walking around taking pictures of the scenery it was so beautiful, even wet.

Great place to rest and relax.Posted Nov 15, 2014
Pros: Food and service.
Cons: Perhaps speeding up the service by the pool. You needed to not be in a hurry if you ordered something to snack on.
Location: Shopping, golf. City bus or taxi to downtown or old town
The staff are very supportive and help provide whatever you need. Language was difficult at times but they would get help if they didn't understand what you needed. Most spoke English very well.

Amazing resort, family friendly, great staffPosted Nov 3, 2014
A little older resort but amazing landscaping, food is great, 2 restaurants and a third which catered to room service and pool service. Family friendly, I went down with my 2 year old son, and he loved the kids pool, staff was amazing so it made up for the sales people trying to sell timeshares, fractional shares.

Great vacationPosted Oct 27, 2014
Cons: The rooms, though very nice, are dated. We have been to resort in the past and room furniture has not been replaced.
Location: The hotel is close to the airport and the marina. Area is safe for walking. Free city tour was very good.
The hotel is on the beach, and it is only a few minutes from the airport. The grounds are extremely well kept and the staff can not do enough to make the guest experience unforgettable. The food is outstanding and we look forward to a return trip. The marina is a short walk away. Walking in the area is safe. When arriving at the airport, there are multiple sales people after you exit customs. They are all trying to get travelers to sign up for a time share presentation. My advice is just keep walking until you exit the airport or reach the transfer service. The hotel offered a free city tour with bus transportation and a guide. It was very interesting and I recommend it. I also went on an all terrain vehicle ride which I purchased through the hotel. I have done this before and have enjoyed the trip. This trip promised a visit to a tequila factory which turned out to be everyone sitting down and being offered a very small sip of tequila and an off to purchase. Tipping was a high priority with everyone tour connected ,however most riders did not tip.
