“Mixed Impression”
Upon arrival, the lobby and grounds give the impression of a luxurious hotel. The grounds are beautiful. We booked thru Expedia so we thought we would avoid the timeshare sales pitch. After checking in at the counter we were instructed to sit with the "concierge" which did go over the hotel amenities but also tried to convince us to attend a tour. The concierge told us initially that because we booked thru Expedia we were entitled to a discount card for a few restaurants, tours, and hotel bar. Once we declined the offer, we were told that we had to return the card. We booked a room with a King bed and ocean view and ended up with 2 double beds and a pool view. There was a kitchenette with 1 small frying pan. The cabinets had a strange smell like mold and there was only one chair in the room. The patio was nice but an indoor seating option would have been nice. We just didn't get what we expected. We asked about getting moved but although the hotel was no where near full, were told that there weren't any ocean view rooms available.
“One of thoese bad vacations”
I have been to this resort before and had a much better room. A full kitchen should have a normal size fridge and an oven. Clock did not work service around the pool was slow and the food was terrible and expensive. I had an accident and sprained my ankle it took forever to get help then I had to take a cab to the hospital at my expense.
“Not Impressed”
We typically stay at the Villa del Palmar or Villa del Arco in Cabo San Lucas and enjoy the location, service, food and hotels very much. When we decided to go to Puerto Vallarta, we chose Villa del Palmar Flamingos expecting the same level quality service, good food, etc. The room is along the lines of the Villa del Arco - nice one bedroom with a beautiful sitting area, full kitchen and lovely balcony with a view of the ocean. The housekeeping services were late, late (we're talking 4-5 p.m.) when typically you just want to rest in your room after a full day in the sun. It was inconsistent - we were constantly having to call back down and request items that were never replenished. The food at the all inclusive buffets were substandard quality. The room they held their theme dinners & entertainment reminded me of an old church hall - dreary & unwelcoming. The quality of entertainment and daily activities was substandard. It's a good $30/40 minute cab ride to anywhere. Our ground transportation, booked through Expedia was HORRIBLE. It was with Gray Line - the trip from the airport was ridiculous with the cab driver trying to impress us with his understanding of the time difference between Nayarit and Jalisco (there isn't one) and the ride back was in a Taxi with a man who couldn't drive and almost got us killed more than twice. There was nothing about this hotel or the transportation company that I would ever recommend to anyone. We won't be going back.
“Reza Shahbazi”
We are very stratified with the quality of this hotel. The crews were very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this resort.
“Awesome and friendly place to stay”
My husband and I went to Mexico for our 4 year wedding anniversary and stayed here at VDPF in Nuevo Vallarta. This is north of the airport, keep in my "old town" or Puerto Vallarta is south of the airport. The hotel staff were super friendly and very helpful, it seemed practically everyone spoke English. This is an all-inclusive resort, but we went without it since we both couldn't use up $84 worth of services each per day if we wanted too. The food on the resort isn't great. The staff are who really make it the place great - the porters, front desk, concierge, wait staff, etc, all wonderful. if you want some great food and don't want to go super far, you can walk 40 minutes up the beach or take a 10-15 minute cab ride to a small town called Bucerias where there are tons of places to eat and shop. I recommend going to Dugarels - SOOOO GOOOD! The 2 tourist restaurants over there are Marks and Karens. We went to Marks and weren't impressed at all - - they attempted Italian and failed. Plus we got less food and it cost us twice as much as it did at Dugarels. Plus the service at Dugarels was so much more personable -- if you go, ask for Nelson, great guy and very informative.
“Awsome Vacation”
Staff @ Villa Del Palmar Flamingo's were very kind. Since our arrival there, they were nothing but pleasant with us. They gave us cool wash clothes to cool off and offered us cold water bottles. The hotel attendant who checked us in was nice and helpful. We got ocean view rooms. The rooms were beautiful with a full kitchen and washer and dryer. They also offered us a playpin for our 15 month old daughter which made it all more comfortable for my husband and I to relax and sleep without worry. Don't recommend the drinks at the hotel. Very expensive and not worth the price. Breakfast at the hotel is delicious.
“Summer 2011”
The hotel was great. We got the all inclusive package and it was the way to go. The food was average for the themed nights but the food at the hotel restaurants was pretty good. The waitters were far from amicable but if you can overlook their less than average friendliness then you are ok. If you have any food allergies this is not the hotel for you. We had a memeber of our family with celiacs and the restaurants were hard to navigate as food seems to be premade. The good thing is that tortillas are the base meal so there was always something she could eat. I guess I have to say it was a little above aaverage but better to go when there are less people. Although there were plenty of kids activities. They even took a sea lion for the kids which was AMAZING to have at the pool there!!!!! But if you are willing to pay a little more stay next door at the "Villas la Estancia" were we transfered to and it is PERFECT!!! Even for those of you with food allergies!!! If you let them know as soon as you get there the chef at La Cassona will bendo over backwards to meet your needs with a gourmet meal. Less people and much better quality service and people who stay there.
“our favorite hotel for the past 5 years”
Villa Del Palmar gave us an apportunity to stay at La Estancia Villas at the same price we had paid, it was a great experience because La Estancia Villas is a more private hotel.
“Nuevo Vallarta 2011”
It was a great Resort and would definitely go back. The staff was great and the housekeeping service was awesome. The place was really well kept up and the rooms have full kitchens and laundry which makes the stay even better. The pool is clean and big enough to accommodate all the people. The Deli at the supermarket has great sandwiches. I would definitely do the time share presentation again, to get the 20% off card which saved us around 100$ on the stuff we charged to the room. Tips: definitely budget for Taxis because the cheapest is 8 dollars and the most expensive is 25 dollars each way and that is for four people. Take the bus to the puerto vallarta, it is only about 1.50$ a person and takes about 30 minutes to get there, but the way back take a cab, because the but takes about an hour and 30 minutes to get back because Flamingos is the last stop. When you get there take a taxi to Megas Supermarket and buy food, drinks and snacks to eat throughout the day and to take to the pool. Definitely get their guacamole, it was the best in the area. Take a lot of Bug Spray because of Mosquitos and Sunblock .
“" Dont fall into "greeting" by "concierge" only want you to BUY Timeshare!!!”
when you are checking in - they will send you to get your welcome packet- supposedley you will be liede to and pushed into touring and taking a breakfast the next day - for only 11/2 hours of your vaca which is really 3 hrs. or more- onloy to get you to buy timeshare that @ a hotel that you already paid AOLT of $ to stay at- then they take more of your money to hold so you have to go!!
