"Honeymoon"
We stayed at Villa Premier in July 2015 for 9 days in the Spa Suite with the all inclusive package. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a welcome drink and cold towel. As we waited, we received a complimentary 5 minute massage. It was amazing and a great way to begin our honeymoon. The room was large and comfortable it had a view of the pool and beach. I got this suite instead of the honeymoon suite because each of us got a spa service. I got the pedicure while my husband chose the massage. There was a hot tub in the suite with a view of the balcony. Our bed was very comfortable and we got to choose our pillows. I can't say enough how impressed we were with the staff (Javier - poolside, Hugo-waiter, Gabby-hostess to name a few). Everyone is very friendly and accommodating. I felt like we were with family. The food was amazing. My husband is a foodie and he was blown away by the presentation and taste of our meals. We enjoyed the pools, cabanas and lounge chairs. We enjoyed the daily yoga classes (9am) and the gym. We participated in the cooking demonstration class(on Mondays) and my husband won the guacamole contest :) Checking out was simple. They gave us a copy of additional charges( tips on food). No hidden charges. They gave us cookies as a goodbye gift. I felt important from beginning to end. *We got caught at the airport by "free gifts" if you do a "time share" presentation. Don't do it. It's not worth the time and hassle. Also, get off the resort and enjoy P.V.

Tje pillows were very unconfortables. Please, review that problem, and there were some electric plugs that didn't work. Thank you for your hospitality!

"Good family vacation... not a great couples hotel"
This was my second trip to the Marival. It is a great place for kids 5-10 years of age. I don't think my husband and I would come to this hotel if we were traveling alone without our children but the two bedroom suites are great for our family. The service is excellent in all areas, EXCEPT the pool area needs to be picked up of empty cups on a more regular basis. It seems as though cups are only picked up at the end of the day around the pool and it tends to make the area look dirty. On our previous trip we were only asked once about taking the breakfast meeting to discuss time-share options and were left alone. This trip, were asked at least a dozen times, from the first person when we arrived at check in, to the towel guy, to the any time we went to the lobby area. It became increasingly annoying. The food at the restaurants that require a reservation are all great. Be sure to make your reservation 5-7 days prior to arrival online if you want to eat at one of them on the day of your arrival. Otherwise, you will be forced to eat at the buffet and God help you on the Asian food night... yuck! The snack bars are great! The drinks are good. My kids enjoyed the non-alcoholic "drinks" menu at the pool bars and the lemonade is fabulous. Bottom line- if you have kids and don't mind the occasional sales pitch this is a good place. I would recommend it to families not honeymooners.

"Best views in Puerto Vallarta"
The Grand Miramar has the best view of Puerto Vallarta without a doubt. There is literally no other hotel up higher than it is. The views are absolutely breathtaking and I have never seen anything like it. From the moment we got there we were treated like royalty by the staff - everyone was super friendly, pulling chairs out for us, helping us in and out of cabs. Check in was smooth and our room was perfect. We spent the first day in shock because it seemed like a dream. We found out that apparently we came in the off season as we were practically the only ones there all week. We saw maybe a total of 12 other guests over the whole time we were there, but we always had a pool to ourselves and usually had the restaurants to ourselves, which was different but I honestly enjoyed it. 0 waiting and we always had drinks. It isn't on the beach but there is a shuttle that runs back and forth which was cool, and a taxi down to the beach is only 70 pesos. We went one day and I would say don't plan on spending an entire day there. The waves were huge to where we couldn't really play in the water and sitting in the beach chairs apparently puts a sign over you that says "try to sell me things" because there were people walking by every 10 - 20 seconds literally trying to sell us everything from hats to cigars. We didn't go back to the beach after that because we had a lot more fun at the hotel.

"Secluded location with options"
We've been to a lot of all inclusive resorts but this one will blow you away when it comes to food and service. You can tell the wait staff has been very well trained and the food is out of this world. So much care and passion is put into everything they make. Be sure to try the pre fixe menus from visiting chefs. La Piaf was the one we had the first night and the food was absolutely amazing. The resort is very quiet and conducive to a relaxing experiencing but I like a little activity so I highly recommend going to their sister resort which has water polo, ping pong, and a great activities guy. We did that two of the seven days we stayed. Although, not on the beach, you can go to the "beach club" resort and enjoy waves and a small pool and pool table on the upper deck. Our concierge, Luis, made some wonderful recommendations to do a night on the town. We went to La Leche to take in some great local cuisine followed by a night at the local club La Santa. Very cool spot with bar and pool tables located adjacent where we spent several hours. We also took advantage of the 3 for 2 special that Vallarta Adventures had, heading to Las Caletas private beach for some snorkeling and kayaking, Extreme Adventures for the most amazing zipline experience and finally, Rhythms of the Night to take in a great production of Mayan culture. Highly recommend!! Luis, Karla, Lionel, Omar, Roger, and so many others make this a one of kind experience.

"It was a nice hotel, except the beds run small"
It was really nice , close to the beach, the food was average, the staff members were ok, the beds run small. We were told we got a king size but the king size was more like a queen size maybe a little bit smaller. Overall it was a nice hotel close to everything.

"Great get away"
Villa Lala is a beautiful place away from the hustle and bussle of the city. The hosts pampered us and made us feel very welcome. The food was very good. Suggestion: need a menu with prices beforehand instead of a random bill at the end of your stay for meals and wine. Since they don't take credit cards, we were glad we had enough cash on us. Despite the 45 minute (with no traffic) $40 taxi to the airport, it was still a wonderful experience.

Where to stay in Puerto Vallarta

Your Guide to Puerto Vallarta Hotels

Puerto Vallarta with kids - “I'll be honest: my family typically vacations on Mexico's Riviera Maya because of the plentiful flights from Denver to Cancun; the upbeat shopping and dining scene in Playa del Carmen; and its gorgeous white sand beaches and turquoise Caribbean Sea. But to change it up a bit for our tropical vacation a couple years ago, we headed to Mexico's west coast to get to know Puerto Vallarta.

“While I still think the beaches on Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula are prettier, with much softer sand, I will say that our family trip to Puerto Vallarta didn't disappoint. The beachfront downtown ("El Centro") is easy to navigate on foot; locals were friendly and welcoming, especially to my young children; old buildings and churches, as well as cobblestone streets, add to the city's historic charm; and we found plenty of active things to do in and around the city, which is our modus operandi for most, if not all, of our family vacations.”
