Huge resort beautifully renovatedPosted Dec 11, 2013
Pros: very nice and impressive facilities.
Cons: Washroom bathtub could be washed more often ( we stayed two weeks and thought the tub would have needed a good scrub).
Location: enjoyed the sailing on those hobbit cat catamarans. The golf course is impressive.
We had a great time in this semi-adult-only resort. As the exclusive adult section is connecting to the family section, if wasn't unusual to have diner or breakfast surrounded by families and young kids. We thought the extras ( eg excursions, spa) were very expensive.

Honest FeedbackPosted Dec 5, 2013
Pros: Location was great
Cons: Consider drinks service on the beach
Having just returned from a 10 day stay at Barceló Beach (Adults Only) I want to be as fair and honest in my assessment as possible should potential travellers read my review. The location was great and a terrific beach but unfortunately those were the only real positives I could take from my vacation. I paid for a superior ocean front view room however it was anything but , I basically got a glimpse of the ocean and my friend who was staying in a standard room had essentially the same view yet I was charged an extra $45 dollars a night for the privilege. The room was okay but a little dated , the shower however was terrible , the taps were covered in limescale and there was a drip in the ceiling and what looked like a trap door on the ceiling was hanging down off its hinges , not great ! Majority of the staff were pleasant and helpful however the language barrier did at times become an issue , I would encourage others to brush up on their Spanish before arriving. One of the biggest issues I faced was the constant noise from the occupants above , you can hear every single footstep , bang , thud or noise from their room , it became intolerable and impossible to sleep or relax and my friend who was on the ground floor experienced the same. I would urge anyone visiting to get a room on the 3rd floor to avoid this problem. Overall if I was to rate the location out of 5 I would give it a high 3 and if I was to rate the hotel of 5 it would be a 2. I however wont return , good luck

Pros: It is quiet and the hotel size is manageable. It is not too big or too small. The adjoining Barceló hotels have extra restaurants and night life.
Cons: The service needs to be improved.
Location: The location is good. It is on a nice section of the beach.
We reserved a beachfront room and that is exactly what we got. Ten steps outside our first floor room put us right on the beach. I would rate the Bavaro Beach as a great little hotel that is joined to the other Barceló hotels. The Bavaro Beach is just for adults which provided a nice quiet surrounding. If you want to read and just relax this is the hotel for you. The buffet restaurants are fine, lots of choice and the quality is okay, repeat okay. Buffet food is buffet food---you are never going to walk away saying WOW that was amazing. The service is adequate. Lots of staff walking around but not too sure what they are doing. The beach is nice and relatively clean. Stuff washes up on the shore and the staff try their best to clean it every day. There must be a reef or sandbar out a mile of so because big waves do not roll in. The pool is great---very clean and very spacious. There are lots of cots and lounge chairs all around the pool and beach area. Shaded area is available if you want it. We were there in November and about 60% of the people staying at the hotel were Russians. I can tell you that anything goes in terms of beach attire. I saw bodies squeezed into bikini's that I wouldn't have thought would have fit in a barrel. Men also seemed to think that speedo's look good on a 250 to 300 pound person. So, don't worry about a beach body if you don't have one. You will feel right at home at this hotel. You can walk to the other Barceló hotels.

NicePosted Nov 26, 2013
Pros: Just the overall experience was great.
Cons: Don't give someone 6'3" a queen size bed.
Location: Good local shops close by. Get outside the resort and experience the true DR
Arrive there late on a Friday afternoon and had some minor issues with the size of the bed. I am over 6'3" and they were trying to give us two queen beds and we were not having it but this was taken care of. I have travel to Dominican Republic and the Punta Cana area many times before but this place was very nice compared to other places where I have stayed before. The staff from Antonio the bellhop, Rosa at the front desk(next time I will get the perfume right. LOL.), the staff at all the eateries and the ladies who made up our beds and clean the room every day were great. I made a conscious to try mostly Dominican food and I was not disappointed Next time I will bring my golf clubs. Overall my stay was great; I don't give excellent ratings because there is no room for improvements. Great job Barcelo Bavaro Beach

Hotel staff and RelaxationPosted Nov 25, 2013
Pros: During the time of our stay it was not crazy busy which was nice and made it more relaxing.
Cons: I would have liked to see each of the menus for the restaurants before hand so we could make reservations early.
Location: Location was great and we went on one excursions that took a while to get to but it was only because we picked people up at other resorts.
The hotel staff was always so nice and accommodating from day to day. We had our "regulars" that we would see each day and they did a great job of remembering us. It was so nice to wake up each morning and say should we go to beach or poolside today when in reality they were 200 feet from each other so we would do both. We went with two other couples and the only thing I wish we did ahead of time was make dinner reservations at the restaurants so we could get better timing but it all worked out regardless.
