An okay place to visit

Pros: The pool was beautiful
Cons: front desk staff-not knowing how to check people into their rooms.
It took us 60 minutes to check into our room. The food was good. My ring was taken while it was in my room. The staff was hard to communicate with-they didn't know very good english.

OK hotel stay

Pros: some of the waitstaff was fun
Cons: lack of staff at the pool, no hot running water all the time
Location: not sure if we will visit punta cana again or not....
during spring break, things get out of hand at night with the younger crowd... which in return makes the rest of us suffer.... not having tables by the lounge chairs or wait staff around the pool could have been useful. not having the same liquor at each bar made it difficult, we had to wonder to each bar to see if they had the vodka we preferred.... not having water in the shower or hot water, seems like it wasnt managed well to have so many people at the hotel.

3 Star Resort, 5 Star Location

My wife and I visited for our 2nd wedding anniversary. We found the property to be well-kept and consistent with pictures. We thought the beach was absolutely stunning! The hotel was close to capacity, but still the beach was large enough for us to get away from the crowds. I'll say we didn't appreciate the hotel permitting "chair saving" which began by about 8am each morning...wait until 10am and every pool and beach chair would be saved, but usually without the owners anywhere nearby. We learned to play the game, but would have liked to avoid the hassle. We found the food in the ala carte restaurants to be good, and we also found that their staff was attentive and friendly--they went out of their way to provide a good experience. Surely a few tips do go a long way toward getting you the quality of service that you want/expect. We were disappointed to find that there is no wait service at the pool or the beach. We utilized room service, but were charged extra...and even then they would not bring any drinks. The house wine is to be avoided at all costs! Despite these issues, given the amazing location, overall, I'd rate the facility a solid 3*. I'd consider returning to Punta Cana but probably not back to this resort--We don't vacation that often and when we do...we want a little more out of our all-inclusive experience than Barcelo provided.

Great Resort

My husband and I booked this hotel at the last minute because of a blizzard. We were scheduled to fly out of Boston on a Saturday but had to leave early and our resort had no openings for the extra two nights. After reading reviews, we were a little worried but were grateful that we were only staying two nights. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The check in process went very smooth, the room was very clean with a gorgeous view of the pool and the ocean, the staff was very pleasant and helpful and the food was great. We didn't have our children with us but noticed there was plenty for the kids to do. The grounds are very pretty and clean and the beach is beautiful. We would definitely recommend this resort.

Great food and beach!

Barcelo Punta Cana has the most amazing staff, beach, and food!! The staff are all extremely friendly and fun. The beach is large and open and also one of the cleanest that we saw. There were no weeds that washed up on the shore like we saw on other beaches. We tried the food at the Mexican, sea-food, Japanese, and Dominican restaurants and it was SO good! The presentation and taste of the food is superb! The room was definitely clean, just not kept up like a 5-star hotel would be. There was water dripping from the ceiling in the bathroom but for the price of the resort and the clean beaches, I didn't even care about that. The night life is not good on the resort but there are several nightclubs just a short taxi-ride away. I would definitely recommend Barcelo Punta Cana. The food and beach make it totally worth your money!
