“Nice”
Love the hotel and the services. Food was good, drinks were fine specially by the lobby bar!! try their cappuccino!!! fantastic. all rooms have jacuzzy. beach is beautiful. personnel is very polite and friendly
“Not impressed”
Bad things: we lived in a Privileged room because of Expedia, however, we had many problems during our stay. On the first night, I saw a small cockroach on a bed and literally after a few minutes a HUGE (about 2.5 -3 inches) one in a bathroom. My husband killed it, and after we called the reception, they sent a guy with spray, so we went outside for about an hour, but returned to our room and slept in our heavy smelled room. Next day, we changed a room, but on a few last days we again saw two cockroaches. Internet in our room didn't work during all our stay although I called and told about this problem. Housekeeper collected towels and brought them back a few hours later. Good thing: water was calm because of reef in a distance. Beach was good. Peopleare from around the world.
“not impressed”
The housekeeping was"nt to good always requestfor water and towels clean every day,the front door need repair and the bathroon door was very dury and not very security. The Show was very poor! Food excellent. people very nice. beach very clean. and organize.
“Punta Cana Sexy Getaway”
I was impressed with how close the resort was to PUJ airport. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food at the buffet was very good and I really liked the wide selection and variety. The Japanese restaurant was pretty good but the Italian restaurant' s food was not so great. I really liked the fact that the beach was accessible and the pool/swim up bar was nice. I was impressed by the set up of my room. I liked the hammock on my balcony. Overall this is a resort I would recommend and would re-visit in the near future.
“first all inclusive”
It's important to mention that when you go to another country you are not going to have the same caliber of service as you would in the US. This place is no Bellagio. The food selections were numerous and pretty good, but everything tastes a little off. After reading several hotels’ reviews you really can’t expect amazing food. For the money that we paid I think we got a really good deal. It should also be noted that the Catalonia is frequently full of people from all over the world. My husband and I probably only ran into 10 other American couples. There were several European, Spanish and German people at the resort. We had no trouble with the language barrier; all of the staff that works with guests speaks enough English that communication is not a problem. The staff would do anything to help you out, they were exceptional. The airport in Punta Cana was interesting, they do not have terminals you walk down stairs and walk down the tarmac to a thatched roof building. The whole experience was really good and eye opening. You will have a great experience as long as you keep in mind that you're in another country, a very poor country.
“Great spot”
We were upgraded to privilege which is great because you get the villa closest to the pool and beach , they are 1 to 16 on to different sides , villa 16 is the furthest from the pool close to restaurants , shops and entrance . A villa is a mini building with 3 stories with 4 rooms to a floor. We were in villa 3 and our maid service always cleaned at 5pm. To us the buffet was not so good we loved the theme restaurants. Bring pants for guys and shirt because their is a dress code to enter the restaurants, they open at 630pm this resort has a huge European population just a heads up for families their are topless and nude women in the beach and pool be aware for the people who aren't custom to this. Please bring bug repellent and use it after 5pm the mosquitoes come out and stay out all night. Pool is great and so is the beach beautiful white sand and clear water. Our room was great freezing ac and hot water.Try the pizza by the pool it is great for lunch and snacking. The little huts are taken pretty fast in the pool and the beach area try to get up early and put your towels and non valuable items on the chairs and your chairs will be respected as taken and you can go away for hours and come back to your hut. Take the pics with the exotic birds and lizard you can get them for 12 dollars at the photo shop . Once you get their you are approached by a lot of people selling you excursions outside of the hotel but once you say no they remember you and don't bug you anymore.
“Little dissapointed.........”
I went to this hotel about 10 years ago, and a loved so much that i want to go there with my family to show them how amazing this place was. But what a surprise, not amazing anymore, i think they dont take the maintenance so serious , a lot of things look old and damage. People who work there are amazing, friendly always want to help you. Food quality not as good as used to be before. Not much variety of food when buffets and restaurants are closed.
“Punta Cana - 1st Time - Jul'11”
I booked one of the Privileged Suites and I recommend. This includes separate check in/out services, suites closer tom the beach, room service and frog bar included in the All Inclusive package, different area in the restaurant closer to the pool/beach, beach towels delivered at the room every night, among other amenities. Pros: beach, pool, good drinks and food, theme restaurants with no reservation needed (there are four, on top of two buffet styles ones), suite space and decoration, service. Cons:we had issues with the shower and air conditioning and had to complain 2-3 times to have it fixed, several times a day the bars/restaurants are out of glasses, buffet restaurants offer extreme high variety of food, but miss on the care to prepare it and also to replenish it. Bottom line, I'd come back and also recommend. Good costXbenefit relation.
“Will not go back to this hotel.”
We were excited to go visit Punta Cana, however after our experience at this hotel we will not come back here to this hotel. We were staying at one of their Privileged rooms, and we had the amazing privilege of having a leaky room and no hot water, and having blood stained pillows. Not to mention, the customer service was bad, and had our money stolen right from our room
“hotel was great, but spa was a complete let down. so was the food”
My husband and I stayed at the adult side of the resort. Glad we did. Everyone was friendly and I was happy with the room and the pools and most of all the beach. BUT, the last day we decided to go to the spa and have massages, body wraps, and facials. all were rushed and the ladies that worked there didnt have any training and I was pretty upset with the whole experience..especially beacuse we paid alot of money for the services and we were rushed from one thing to another and there wasnt anything relaxing about it. all in all the resort was a relaxing getaway, but I wouldnt waste your time in the spa or the casino.
