Good choice for the first time in Punta CanaPosted Nov 30, 2013
Pros: The Bavaro is family friendly, but the Palace and Punta Cana are adult only. Staying at one gives you access to all three though.
Location: There are 2 shopping centers near by the hotel provides free transportation to/from. The resort also has a spa and you can book excursions as well.
Service, attention, and helpfulness from hotel staff was very good if not excellent. The restaurants toward the front of the Bavaro resort were undergoing renovations, so that left dining at the restaurant on the beach (buffet style food and no reserved seating--good food and not much trouble getting a table), or going to another within Grand Palladium. It seemed that the construction might be over with soon because the outdoor wooden walkway was being stained and furniture was already on location. There were a few things about the room that could have been improved (balcony light was not working, shower door seemed to let water through wetting the floor), but I was hardly in the room to use the balcony, and a shower mat was available. My room was a five minute walk from the lobby, maybe a 3 minute walk to the beach, and practically around the corner from the pool. There are free shuttles that provide transport to various places throughout the resort regardless of which one you are checked in at (Bavaro, Punta Cana, Palace), but they run about every 20 minutes. It's faster to walk to the lobby and then catch a ride from there, as they pass by more frequently there since they are always dropping people off.

Not now, maybe after constructionPosted Nov 9, 2013
We went there with 2 kids (under 6). They had lots of fun, but not us. We got there late, room was not ready, we had to wait in lobby with tired kids. Once we got the room, we where pleased, nicely renovated, clean, BUT... the view out of our balcony was into a construction site... Construction workers was waking us up like 6am. First night we where tired, so slept ok. Next night i noticed weird think with AC unit. AC turns on for 30 sec, then runs for 30sec and like this all night, on and off. maybe it's no big deal, but the fan is loud as jet engine. I asked hotel staff about it, they said nothing could be done, it is "green" thermostat, saving electricity. Last day, just before we had to leave, we had no water in the room, i was little upset, i needed shower before we go. Beach was nice, they have couple pools, they are nice, clean. Nice pool for kids with pirate ship. Some staff member where very nice, but some(in the lobby) are rude. My kid wanted something to drink, we went to lobby bar, i asked if they have apple juice, guy just listed 4 kind of juices he had and just walked away, no not to another person, there was nobody else there. Shut i wave tip money before i order??? If you go there just for your little kids, then maybe it is ok, lots activities for them, my kids where happy. This was our second time in Dominican rep., first time we went without kids to "fancy" resort, we plan to go again soon, but will choose different resort.

Crazy.Posted Nov 3, 2013
Well we arrived and when taken to our room the bellman took our bags to the steps and left and we were on the 2nd floor! Only to carry them up ourselves open the door and WRONG room. Finally taken to the correct suite. Left the room and went looking for a lounge, onky fir all the power to go out. Did not come back for over an hour and a half! So we went to the casino after getting a drink, put our money in the machines and the power goes again for another half hour. They didn't take reservations for the ala cart restaurants. Day 1 not so good. I felt like the staff overall were good. Hard to understand and they could not understand my English. It really made for a difficult we. I have never went to an island and had to worry about this.

Nice hotel, not so great servicePosted Oct 29, 2013
Pros: The hotel in itself is nice, the room is very comfortable and clean as well as the bathroom.
First I must say, the hotel is huge and the signs were not very easy to follow. We went to the wrong reception at 1st and had someone guide us to the right one. When we did check in, we had to walk for about 20 minutes, carrying and pulling bags and suitcases, all the way to our room. The room was very nice, very comfortable and clean, and so was the bathroom. Until…. Power went off. It went off about 3 times, the last time it was already dark outside so, room was really dark. Power was out for about 20-30 minutes.. Next morning, there was no hot water, we had to shower in cold water. Overall, it's not too bad for an all inclusive, considering the food, the drinks and the nice room, but I was bothered by the power outage and the cold water in the am.

Had an awsome time.Posted Oct 21, 2013
Pros: Location, staff, infrastructure, food, activities, the beach and swimming pools.
Cons: The Hotel needs more trains to get around and more signs towards the exit. Needed to ask for directions on our way out.
Location: Since there are three adjacent hotels there is a whole lot to do during your stay.
Loved our stay, great rooms, great food, awsome beach and swimming pools. The restaurants and their staff were amazing as was the buffet; And the bar with the live music was perfect. The staff were very attentive, specially at the reception desk ( Wilkins) and the Rooms distribution manager, who helped us with a printing dilema.

Under construction: Do Not Stay at this ResortPosted Sep 27, 2013
Pros: Hotel and restaurant's staff were nice mostly. Some were very weird, peeping toms all over. Liked the all inclusive but they are not 24/7.
Cons: They should close until construction is complete. It was unnerving being leered at by workers AND hotel staff while in your bathing suits.
Location: There is nothing to do near this resort. I met people staying at other nicer resorts and they said the same thing. Mexico, Here We Come!
I returned on Sunday Sept. 22, 2013 from Punta Cana. I stayed at the Grand Palladium Bavaro. It looked good and everyone recommended it on Expedia and Trip Advisor. Maybe the construction just started right before my trip, I do not know. It was a girls weekend/birthday celebration for one of my friends. We made the best of the situation but it was rocky upon arrival. They tried to squeeze us into the smallest room, in spite of what we paid for and choose on Expedia. They were trying to say that Expedia got it wrong. I wasn't hearing that foolishness so we were moved to a nicer, bigger room that accommodated 3 females nicely. We had problems getting extra towels, I'm talking 20 phone calls were made. They finally got it right the next day. They did not change the sheets in spite of our requests. We marked them to prove this. Ya'll remember the Dateline report I hope. Take your Lysol to any hotel you stay at, no matter how nice it is. I have stayed at five star and got the same results I did here. Anyway back to this resort, because of all of the construction, which doesn't look like it will be completed until 2015, the staff was nice but spoke very little English. One of my friends speak a bit of Spanish so we were ok. I've got to learn that language fast! Like I said, the staff was nice and very helpful. We LIVED on the beach which was nice. I could go on and on. Just don't go to this resort until 2015. It should be real nice then I hope. Not returning to this resort ever!

Nice vocationPosted Sep 24, 2013
Cons: animation team little lazy during the day time
we staid at Grand Palladium Bavaro first two weeks of september, my biggest Q was what is the difference Punta cana vs Bavaro vs Palace, since prices are different, and there is really no significant difference. The hotel is huge, nice landscaping, pleasant personal, BEAUTIFUL beach and great food! Recommended!

It was about a mile from the beach all walkingPosted Sep 22, 2013
Pros: Some of the American customers were very friendly, we met a lot of great people.
Cons: The food, the rooms, less walking, better maps, room service, etc.
We had a very unpleasant time at this hotel, first of all the food was horrible, I mean not even edible there was fine dining (which was horrible), breakfast & lunch (even worse). They had construction going on and a lot of the resort was closed. There was a lot of walking to find a bar or restaurant, and then when we would finally find one they were closed or you needed reservations, or you did not meet the dress requirements. There was no room service at all, are room phone and air conditioning did not work. We had a hard time trying to call home, no internet service at all. All the restaurant and bars were in the open so they were hot, I mean 100 degrees out and absolutely no air anywhere. When you try to ask for directions or help no one speaks English. This was a horrible vacation.
