Great Friendly Staff

Posted Dec 15, 2014
Pros: I liked the fact that everything was located close to the room...the pool, the buffet, the bars, the lobby.
Cons: The restaurants that are offered are pretty much booked solid, so you really need to be persistent to get reservations made.
Location: We stayed on property besides two excursions. There really is no need to leave the property considering the drinks and food are free.
We loved everything about this hotel. The only suggestion (which we also read before we arrived) is to book your dinner reservation immediately and you will be happy. The food was very good for it being an all inclusive. They always had golf carts available to cart us to their sister properties. I would definitely stay there again.

Adults Only Section is Excellent

Posted Dec 15, 2014
Pros: Service/Staff, Food, and the Pool were very enjoyable.
Cons: Beach Space
Ambar is part of a massive resort complex with over 3500 rooms. The New Adults Only Section is set away from the beach with a beautiful pool. The beach is overrun with guests because of the massive size of the whole resort complex. No peaceful ocean/beach relaxing

Tolles Hotel, mehrere Gebäude, max. drei Etagen

Posted Dec 12, 2014

Overall, positive experience at Luxury Bahia Principe Amber. The food was outstanding, especially dinner at El Olivio. The food quality and presentation was impressive. The staff was attentive, friendly yet many did not speak English. The pools were clean and the poolside music helped to improve the tropical experience. My only disappointment was the beach. It was covered with seaweed due to the season. The staff worked very aggressively to continue to remove the debris- but it was a lot. The beach area had plenty of seating and ample umbrellas. Again, overall positive experience.

Huge resort complex

Posted Dec 9, 2014
Pros: The staff and the pools. The beach was beautiful, but there was a lot of seaweed that would wash up on the beach.
Cons: I like a firm mattress, but they could really use some better mattresses.
Location: They have a lot of varied activities within the complex, but there is not much else around the resort.
We had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. The pros: The staff was very pleasant and helpful. There were many choices of places to eat. There were a million pools to choose from. The cons: If you are looking for beachfront, there are not many buildings on the beach, or for that matter even close. The mattress felt like we were sleeping on a box spring. The "sports bar" doesn't open until 6 PM and even though we waited so we could watch some college football, the televisions were not turned on and the bartenders told me it was Saturday and that there was no American football, and when I told them it was college ball, they then told me they didn't get CBS on the televisions! The games were televised in our room (at least until the CBS channel switched over to Telemundo!). The stores at the resort were very expensive, not great little trinkets to buy! Ladies, bring conditioner. The "shampoo/conditioner combo" they provide will not condition your hair with the hard water.

beautiful rooms, beautiful grounds, great selection at the buffets, food was good at the restaurants. Ocean was pretty rough on that beach. No water pressure and beds were very, very hard. We did a few excursions and they were great. Overall a wonderful getaway

another great time in punta cana

Posted Dec 2, 2014
Pros: the visitors were all very friendly
Cons: some entertainnment at the pool area of the Ambar 1 , better robes in rooms, improved gym and supervision of the beds around the pool.
Location: we stayed on the complex
we had a really great time at the hotel but having been there about 9 times before I noticed so many things that were not as top notch as they were before. There was absolutely nothing going on at the pool area. They used to have music, bingo, water aerobics and dance lessons. Now there nothing but its probably because they're focusing their attention on the Ambar 2 area. Also because they are claim to be the Don Pablo Luxury Collection of hotels, they had robes in the rooms that were unacceptable and the pool by the beach could use some upkeep. People would reserve the beds at 6:30 not to come back until the afternoon. The last time I was there, there was no reserving of the beds until 8 am unless you stayed at your spot. There was no supervision this time. The pool and wait staff was great as usual however when I checked out, the man at the front desk said absolutely nothing. No "thank you" No "Come back soon" , no comment. Oh well in spite of it all, we had a very nice time but I don't know if ill return. the beach was also very crowded because of the new section.

For the money it's good

Posted Dec 1, 2014
Pros: Location, food, staff
Cons: efficiency in housekeeping your room, I felt like they were coming in there all day from 10am until 9pm.
Location: We did 2 excursions through blue travel partners. Both the zipline tour and the reef explorer were awesome.
Was our first trip to the Dominican, staff was very pleasant for the most part. A bit confusing when you first arrive as you get dropped off at the lobby of a different hotel in the complex. Once we figured out the problem we were taken to our hotel lobby on a cart. Room wasn't ready when we arrived but we chilled in the bar for about an hour and then went to our room. Shower was not hooked up and the toilet didn't flush properly. Shower eventually got fixed that night and the toilet at some point during the next day. Beach is awesome, just better get there by 7am to drop a towl on your seats, or just go after 2pm and finding seating isn't a problem. "Relax" pool is huge and we never had an issue finding chairs, although we also didn't go until after 2pm most days. Pool closer to the beach is also nice but not as big and we were not able to get chairs a couple times we stopped by. If you are able to let some small things go since you didn't pay as much for this resort as you would for others then this is the place for you. We had an awesome time, just a couple little things bothered us but it's hard to get that angry when you are in such a beautiful place. The staff is very polite and generally attentive. While it is all inclusive, I would recommend bringing a little money for tipping if you want regular service on the beach or the pool from a waiter and don't want to go to the bar every time though.
