Our trip was perfect at this resort ! We stayed at ambar 1 and it was right next to the pools and the beach is right behind it. The staff are THE best people I've ever met and could not do enough for you. We had no issues what so ever, the ocean had a lot of sea weed, but this problem isn't anything the resort could control. They even had people on tractors trying to clean most of it up ! I highly recommend , perfect for couples !

Beautiful resort, friendly hotel staff!

Posted Jul 2, 2015
Pros: resort staff and beautiful grounds
Cons: quality of food and lounge chairs
The staff was incredibly accommodating and friendly! The resort grounds were beautiful and very well maintained. The room was spacious and very clean. My one huge diasspointment was the beach. I have visited Punta Cana in the past, and the beaches have always been amazing. This is the primary reason why we chose to visit. Unfortuantely the beach horrible, full of seaweed. The staff did their best to keep it clean but it wasn't enough. They also need better lounge chairs at the beach. They are rigid and unable to lay flat so it makes tanning on your stomach very uncomfortable. The pools were absolutely beautiful but I wouldn't go in them. People hang out by the bar all day and never come out to use the restroom. The food was ok, not horrible but not great. Buffets are better than the restaurants we visited but can still use some work. The only 2 restaurants that we truly enjoyed were Takara and Don Pablo. The food was very good at both. The service at Takara was excellent! For breakfast, I recommend the omelette station at the Ambar II buffet, it was pretty good. I missed my cafe con leche for breakfast every morning. After breakfast, we would head to the Ambar I lobby and have the Caramel Cappuchino, that was delicious! I recommend taking lots of $1 and $5 for tips. It isn't required but the tips go a long way! The resort staff was wonderful and deserving of our tips.

Summer Vacation

Posted Jul 1, 2015
Pros: Everything was new. Rooms and all surrounding areas were kept clean.
Cons: The room doors are not correctly fitted.
Location: Location is only about a 20 minute drive from the airport. Great beach.
My husband and I have stayed at Bahia Principe Punta Cana before, but not at Bahia Principe Ambar . The hotel is new and luxurious. The staff were friendly and helpful. We hope to go back next year.

Don't be fooled like me, don't book here.

Pros: Fell FAR below my expectations.
Cons: Customer fairness & not take $ that should be reimbursed.Front desk staff FOREVER to get anything done
Location: Sit by the pool or leave the resort to do something nice.
- The resort is very unfair and scams you for your $ if you check out early. I checked out 3 nights early and they won’t have the courtesy to give me my money back. Trying to talk to them is really like trying to talk to a tree. - Expect to eat at a buffet every single breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You can eat at a restaurant if you have a reservation. If you don’t have a reservation, and the restaurant is empty, they will not serve you. - There are septic and/or plumbing issues. All day, all the rooms smell like someone got sick in your room. - The pool is dirty with thick layers of scum on the tile.

Something's are nice

Due to the flight cancellation we lost a day at this location. We attempted to call serveral times to infom the resort of our flight problems, which lead me to being hung up on more than one time. Staff was rude and didn't care about the issues we encountered. They gave our room away even tho we informed them that we were still coming. The room they showed us in replacement of the room was pass dirty and smelled bad. When we asked for another room the staff seemed upset. So we were forced to stay in a one bedroom place for a party of three. We never go a chance to eat at their prime reaturants bec they always stated they they were booked, but when we talked to others that went they informed us that they just showed up and got seated. It was a terrible experience and all didn't go well but the pool was great as well as the bar staff.

If you love all-inclusives

Posted Jun 22, 2015
Plusses: We had a beautiful room, a junior deluxe suite, lots of space with a sitting area. The pool area, with the swim-up bar, was great, as were the spa services available for purchase. Besides the buffet, there are about a dozen restaurants on the property to choose from; everything from Italian, to Mediterranean, even Brazilian steakhouse. Minuses: The beach is well-kept. However, this resort is on the Atlantic side, so the water is more brown than blue. Be prepared for the heat. Even with air conditioning and ceiling fans in the rooms, it can still be challenging getting to sleep at night. Also, while the staff are all super nice, few beyond the lobby staff speak English.
