Pros: Friendly staff, Food and Drinks.
Cons: Check-in procedure and air conditioning in the rooms.
This is a great resort. It may not be the newest, but it was maintained well. Pool was fantastic and beach was gorgeous. Food and drinks were great! I love the nightly shows. Staff were friendly (especially Edurlie from the Mediterranean restaurant). The only thing I didn't like was the air conditioning in our room (#0605) during the day, it wasn't cool enough. At night, it was fine. I will definitely come back and will recommend Melia Caribe to my friends.

unsatisfied w/ my upgrade to far from amenities

Posted Jul 20, 2014
Pros: beautiful landscaping and the staff was kind always smiling
Cons: could make things closer to the rooms like the gift shops the restaurants the spas
a lot of walking not suitable for the elderly I upgraded so I can be closer to the buffet , pool, beach and all other amenities and still gave a sweet far away

Beautiful Hotel

Posted Jul 19, 2014
I just came back from a week vacation at Melia. Hotel is beautiful, well maintained , beautiful gardens, I recommended to everyone. I had a regular room then I changed to the level and was worth it every dollar we paid. The staff service, the room, the gabi restaurant and more make the big difference. We will definitely come back, Very pleased.....

Our Hotel in Punta Cana, Melia Caribe Tropical

Posted Jul 18, 2014
Pros: Everything was wonderful.
Cons: More English speaking proficiency with the work staff
Location: We did not leave the Resort, I did not see much to do outside of the Resort while driving in. There was a shopping Mall within walking distance.
This Hotel/Resort was absolutely beautiful. I loved the Bungalow theme. The grounds were very well kept with people working them from early morning to evening. Inside the Hotel hallways, buffets, restaurants - everything was immaculate. The halls were buffed every morning. The lobby and hallway sitting/relaxing places were lovely. Rooms were very nice and clean and room cleaning was very good. Loved the choice of walking about 15 minutes from the hotel to the beach/pool area or taking a little train that ran about every 15 minutes. The restaurant at the beach had wonderful food during the day and was handy within the pool and beach area...wonderful desserts. Plenty of lounge chairs available with tops over most of them. I thoroughlyenjoyed my swedish one hour massage at $100 and the girl was very pleasing, but no English! At night, the lighting arrangements were beautiful and I just absolutely loved everything about it---except trying to understand some of the desk people. The waiters at the Market place were kind, smiling and very helpful - Jordy Phillips was just the best and could speak some English, we enjoyed him so much. The buffet food was very appeasing and very delicious. The restaurants with reservations were also nice and clean...people very friendly and attentive. I have been many places in the Caribbean but I would definitely visit the Melia Caribe Tropical again. G. Estep, Charleston, WV USA

Level Adult Section

Posted Jul 18, 2014
Pros: Being in the Level, you felt like you were in your own resort separated from the rest.
Cons: I would have loved to have a Jacuzzi on my patio.
Can't say enough about this new section of the resort. Hotel staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. When I return, I will only stay in the Level.

Beautiful grounds, close to the beach

Posted Jul 17, 2014
Pros: The grounds were beautiful. The rooms were comfortable.
Cons: Check in time (took us more than 1 hour) and we were not the only ones who experienced a long check in time.
Location: Location was very good. Bavaro beach is beautiful and we did the excursions right from the beach.
The common areas in the hotel were beautiful. The buffets were ok, but dinners in the restaurants were very good. Our room was spacious and comfortable and I loved having a balcony. The bathrooms could use an update (tub and grout). The water was warm from the nozzle in the tub, but when the lever was moved to have a shower, the water was cold, then it could not be regulated using the hot/cold controller.

Not the best, but just OK.

Posted Jul 16, 2014
Pros: Beach and pool were close. Room service was great in the Level.
Cons: The Staff at the LEVEL concierge can be nicer. They were absolutely rude! They keep speaking in SPanish to each and then start laughing.
Location: Have to stay inside the compound. No nightlife. The show is in Spanish and it is very Hot. Show sucks too.
The place is filled with a lot of families "running wild". Not really much class at this resort. You really need to upgrade to Gabi or the Level. The riff raff still exists in those areas, but it is bearable. The alcohol in no-upgraded areas are absolutel horrible. Upgraded alcohol is Absolute, Stoli, DeWar's....nothing great, but better. Service is mediocre all around and the food is sub-par. Thai place is horrendous, Dominican is actually really good, and the rest, if even open, are OK
