Nice resort right on the beachPosted Nov 25, 2014
Pros: Cleanliness (I heard horror stories on our excursions from other people at different resorts about how dirty it was, running out of liquor, bugs)
Cons: The food (although it was edible, there was room for improvement)
We went here for our honeymoon. This resort is beautiful, clean, and charming. The rooms were cleaned everyday with a turn down service in the evening. It's all inclusive and the drinks were NOT watered down. The staff was very friendly and courteous. We upgraded to the Royal Service which I HIGHLY recommend. You have access to the premium liquors as well as service 24/7 and a reserved part of the beach with special cabanas. Our butler was on top of everything (ask for Fermi). The resort has 9 restaurants. Overall the food was above average considering it was all inclusive. The international buffet was average. The restaurants tended to have more upscale interesting food. Even though there were a lot of honeymooners there, the resort did a great job treating us like we were the only ones!!! We had a great time and would gladly return. Again, I stress upgrade to the Royal Service.. IT'S WORTH THE MONEY!!!!!

Resort with a "wow" factorPosted Nov 14, 2014
For our first time visiting Punta Cana we were pleased with this resort. I can't say the same for two other groups who arrived before we did and the hotel did not have their room reservations for some reason. When you arrive at the hotel, the view is phenomenal! Staff is friendly - only a couple of encounters with staff who may not need to work in hospitality. Customer service - not so helpful so it's a good thing we were truly there for R&R. When you make reservations for an a la carte restaurant you should probably say you'll take what's available or give them a few times you'll be willing to eat or you won't get reservations. In fact, you can only make reservations the day of from 9-5 and they will let you know by sliding a confirmation under your door after 3:45. If you've made plans for that day you're essentially screwed for your chance at an a la carte restaurant and should plan to eat at the buffet. Just doesn't seem very efficient. Luckily the buffet food is decent. The pool is huge! They run out of towels towards the end of the day so go early. Plenty of bars for drinks no matter where you are in the hotel common areas. Plenty of cabanas and lounge chairs, but we were there during off season. The food on a scale of 1-10 gets a 7. Compared to some of the resorts we saw on the way out, including those that are a part of this company, Palma Real seems like it was the best choice. We would go back and stay a bit longer to experience more.

The property was nice but...Posted Nov 13, 2014
Pros: The rooms were very nice and clean. The staff taking care of the rooms were wonderful
Cons: Teach the staff some basic English. Literally at times you would ask for ice and they did not understand
The property was nice but had less to offer as far as activities than we had hoped. The Casino is tiny and machines are old. The activities scheduled seemed to cancel often. The staff was very friendly however very few of the staff spoke any English which was at times extremely frustrating. You had to make reservations for diner every night but two nights my reservations never got confirmed and I believe it was because the girl could not understand me. The biggest problem we had was the offer of $1500 resort credits. They are useless. You are basically getting 10% off with coupons and only if you spend a certain amount. The spa credit is only $50 and can no be combined with any of there specials so again useless. The golf is unlimited but the carts (which are old and terrible) have to be used and charge $65 to $75 per person. We all felt this was deceptive.

Luxury Hotel, Great ExperiencePosted Nov 10, 2014
Pros: food, ambiance, music, cocktails, beach
Cons: construction areas
Food was excellent - buffet features international cuisine, fresh seafood, and tons of variety. Premium cocktails which were very nice. The hotel has a luxury look and feel, however, on one of the days we were there it poured rain for several hours, and parts of the hotel flooded due to poor construction. As a result, construction crews were on site working around the clock to make fixes. Beach was wonderful and not too crowded. Wait staff on the beach could have been a bit more responsive, but on the whole the staff were incredible. Very accommodating. Vento was delicious as well.

Not what I expected...Posted Oct 26, 2014
Pros: Waiters and waitresses were very nice
Cons: Food selection and front end help
Location: Did not go off property
I stayed at Paradisus, Punta Cana 5 years ago and was told this was upscale and was highly dissappointed. Food was limited and not of 4 or 5 star quality. Had an extremely difficult time making dinner reservations, then when you got there, you were told they never got the reservations. Seems like if you weren't holding a $10 bill in your hand, not much got done. The breakfast and lunch buffet was the least impressive I ever saw. I travel at least 4 times a year to all inclusives and found this to be just ordinary. DEFINATELY NOT a 4.3 out of 5, more like a 3 out of 5.

First time solo travel to the CaribbeanPosted Oct 25, 2014
Pros: All-inclusive, clean grounds and room, plentiful staff that were helpful and spoke good English, comfortable beach loungers
Cons: Check-in could be a little faster, it took at least an hour.
Location: As others have mentioned, there is a lot of seagrass. It didn't inhibit my enjoyment of the ocean at all, so just a very minor detraction.
Everything went smoothly with booking through Expedia for flight, room, and airport transfer. I would definitely book with Expedia again. The resort is gorgeous and very clean. Stayed Oct 20-23rd in a royal service garden view room which was spacious, luxurious, and well stocked with drinks, water, and snacks. Had a cheese plate upon arrival, a lovely jacuzzi tub bath and chocolate covered strawberries, turn down service, and lavender scented pillows. The staff are very helpful, friendly, and gracious. The food was pleasing, I'd give it 4 out of 5 stars. There was certainly plenty to choose from as far as restaurants and buffets. Most importantly, as a solo female traveler, I felt safe and was not hassled by anyone. I was able to relax on the beach all day without being approached by locals to buy souvenirs. The male staff were very respectful, but they were all surprised I was visiting without my husband! That obviously doesn't happen often, 99.9% of the folks visiting the resort were with someone, either a significant other or friend. My trip was wonderful, wish I could've stayed longer, and I wouldn't hesitate to return either solo or with my husband!

Underwhelmed, but not terrible.Posted Oct 21, 2014
Positive: staff was great! Tried to accommodate will all, very friendly. Beach was great! Very clean, white sand... BeAutiful entrance to hotel overlooking the ocean and beautiful hotel overall. If u want to rest, this is the place for you. Negative: food was mediocre. They needed to have some dominican moms behind the kitchen making it right because the food was not great. But then again I'm a picky foodie. No morning smoothies, no real healthy options. I gained 2 pounds in a weekend because I had no choices for my healthy things. Hotel was pretty boring: no daytime activities, and night time activities were just OK. Most rooms are very far from the beach.
