Beautiful lobby view

Posted Apr 13, 2014
We had a good time. The first nite was a problem as the fire ruined three restaurants. It was sometimes difficult to get into dinner reservations were a problem till we met keyla at the reserve. She was a hostess at mizu restaurant there. She helped get us into several restaurants that week. Great help. Glad to have met her.

Great food, Great pool, Great alcohol

Posted Apr 6, 2014
Paradises Palma Real is a hotel with no flaws. The service is always available, whether it be numerous restaurants, bars, stores and the fastest room service I have ever seen. The pool is huge (no overcrowding issues ever), and the beach is right beside it (and your room). The food and alcohol is the biggest selling point for us as 5 star island hotels don't always give 5 star meals and drinks. The food was a perfect 10/10 and the staff in the restaurants was the best service we received. We tried everything but we're shocked how good the buffet was, fresh cooked meat to order and an assortment of top quality international foods changing every day. The drinks were of very high quality in the all inclusive. We tried numerous wines and beers while also taking note that the whiskeys and rums were high end as well. The bar service was ok at times as we found they moved slowly to make drinks, and a few times we had to leave a bar in the hotel because we couldn't get service, but we always got them eventually and they were always made right. The casino is not worth it and has bad service but I really didn't care about it to start, who goes to an island for a casino anyways. I can't speak to young adults looking to party hard but there were clubs available and we thought the entertainment in the evening and live music at night was top quality and in a beautiful location. Everything is clean, room service is amazing and it truly is paradise.

Nice resort but all-inclusive food poor

Posted Apr 3, 2014
Pros: The lobby and how open it was; the huge pool equipped with pool bar and laying areas in the pool; the close walk onto the beach with the tikki huts.
Cons: Not being misled by a butler-like greeter who gave us a tour of the resort only to then ask us to attend a Melia-promotion breakfast so he can earn $.
Location: Highly recommend the ziplining tour - gets you on a shuttle to the mountains through the local towns. Ziplines were long too.
Beautiful entrance and lobby area that is open such that ocean can be viewed while checking in. But then... we got a room that was 10 min from the lobby just to find that the "king" bed was 2 beds pushed together with towels placed down the middle on the crack and sheets over the 2 beds and towels, AND pillows were placed to cover the plug outlets on the wall that was between the 2 headboards. No hot water either in the bathroom so we asked for a different room. Luckily, they corrected the issue and gave us a different room that had a proper king bed, hot water in the bathroom, and was located much closer to the lobby. If you are booking - be sure to book near the lobby or common areas; otherwise, the 10+ minute walk to/from your room can be a downer on your trip. In addition, beware of the advertisements.. this resort is not an adult-only resort; it only has an area that offers adult-only but it's only a small area. The all-inclusive food was not good at all, but if you must eat it, go when the cafeteria first opens as the food when freshly prepared was much better than when it had been sitting there on the warmers.

Met Expectations!

Posted Apr 1, 2014
Pros: Everything
Location: There a shopping mall very close with designer names but were weren't interested in shopping, just relaxing.
This was our first time to Punta Cana. (3-26 to 3-31-2014) Our goal was to find a place close to the airport with direct beach access that had all the amenities within the facility to enjoy; beach, pool, entertainment and food. Paradisus Palma Real (PPR) met all of our expectations. Drive from the airport was 15 minutes. The hotel and grounds surrounding the hotel were exceptional. PPR is all inclusive and was the best choice for us. 6 Restaurant's within the hotel and out of the 3 we most frequented for breakfast-lunch & dinner all were terrific. The GABI for dinner was very good. Unlimited access to whatever beverage you wanted throughout the day. The staff always made you feel comfortable. Our room was a Executive Jr, Suite and perfect. The bed was incredibly large, seemed like a double king. Beach was wide, clean and with plenty of cabana's to relax. No hustler's on the beach pushing tee shirts etc. like was encountered at other resort beach's. We give the PPR a very high rating 5 stars.

Disappointing service and food

Posted Mar 31, 2014
Pros: Large pool
Cons: Food, service, explanation of service types
While the hotel was fairly clean and the pool and beach area were nice, we were very disappointed with the service and felt the website was misleading in terms of the differences in the different levels of service. The staff was largely unaccommodating and uninterested in helping make the stay more enjoyable. The restaurants were very disappointing in food quality and making reservations was a large challenge (despite being largely empty each night). Service at the pool and on the beach was poor (with the exception of the activities leaders). Overall the hotel was not worth it for the price. I have stayed at several other all inclusives in Punta Cana that were far superior for similar prices.

Better for adults or younger families

Posted Mar 31, 2014
Pros: The resort was beautiful and very clean.
Cons: A teen nightclub would be good to have.
Location: Leaving the resort means at least a 25 minute cab ride everywhere.
The resort is beautiful. Food is good - not as bad as other all inclusives. Drinks are ok - mojitos are the best. Not a great place for teens - not much to do at night. Biggest problem is the language barrier. English is fair. We had problems with 2 of our excursions and the hotel didn't do much about it. They use Sunny-C as one of the agents for bookings in the hotel and they pretend to listen and say there isnt anything they can do. This is where the language barrier comes in. Things are not explaned properly and we overpaid for a trip - thinking we were getting more. Snorkeling trip was terrible and company was very inexperienced, and Sunny C did nothing. Sent the manager to speak with me and she was useless. Gift shop workers were all miserable. Big-Mac the activies director had a great personality. As usual, they try to sell you time shares. Room service was execellent. Nice play for younger families - teens not so much.

Spring Break

Pros: location
Cons: beds needs upgrade
Location: water sports, horse riding on beach
Beautiful property on the beach, staffs are friendly, beds are not comfortable, foods in the buffet lacks variety, seems same food everyday, resturants are not that great and hard to make reservation.
