Ambushed by Hotel Conceirge

This is a beautiful place! But be careful.. On the first morning our conceirge picked us up and told us he was taking us on a tour and to breakfast. He hit us hard with a Club Med package. We could not have coffee or breakfast until we had the 90 minute presentation. Awful planning on his part! After we declined, he never helped us with dinner reservations or other reservations again! But we did enjoy our stay inspite of him!

Pros: amount of shade you can find around the pool and beach. Tons of chairs and lounges
Cons: customer service
The hotel itself, the beach, and grounds are beautiful. Customer service was awful! If you're looking for a beach and a beautiful hotel and want to be left alone then this is the perfect spot. My husband and I are adventurous people on vacation- we want to explore. Making reservations at restaurants or booking excursions was a nightmare. Anytime I needed to place a call to the front desk or guest relations, I would be put on hold for at least 5 minutes then get disconnected. Not planning on going back to DR, but if I was, I would definitely go back to this hotel, I'll just know for next time how poor customer service is.

Very Friendly staff. Absolutely stunning grounds. Kid friendly. Rooms very nice. A few small room details could be improved. Showers for example. Non reserve lunch at pool was terrible. Just get an outdoor grill with fresh hamburger and hot dogs. Also more lounge chairs for pool and beach. Ovrrall food very goid

Gorgeous beach, for $1000/day don't expect much

Staff work so hard, but just not worth this money. Food is disappointing, staff not sophisticated. We were in royal service. Great place for $500/day, disappointed on most details for $1000. I felt sorry for those not in royal service.

Only stay at the RESERVE

Only stay at the Reserve if you book this hotel. There is such a difference. Our room was disgusting, dirty and dated. I tried upgrading but they told me the reserve was full. They never told me there was an option to upgrade within the B section of the hotel. I would have gladly done that! Our sliding glass doors didn't seal shut so we had Mosquitos every night. We booked dinner reservations the night we got there and were told every restaurant was booked all week with the first availability at 9:30. We have 2 young kids so that wouldn't work. My husband had to go the the lobby to complain in order to get reservations Kids zone was not ideal. I would never leave my kids there. It smelled like a dirty diaper and was unorganized. Tried to book bikes and could not until the day before we left. They only allow 3 day rentals at a time which makes no sense. Pool had limited seating and very shady, the reserve pool was much nicer. I've always liked melia properties but the difference between the reserve and the regular rooms at this resort were far too different. We were pushed to Buy a time share. Even after I told them how upset I was, they still relentlessly tried to sell us a time share. It was ridiculous. Bathrooms by gabi beach weren't kept clean enough. Always running out of soap and toilet paper Entertainment at night was great! Service and food staff great! Lobby staff not so much. Always on personal calls and looked annoyed when you "interrupted" them.

No complain at all except for some communication difficulty. Some staffs are really having a difficult time to understand English but great opportunity for my family to learn Spanish which can even out. Great food,,, personally not getting a huge impression from A La Carte... Get bigger satisfaction from buffer in terms of variety and customer service

Cons: Maybe more punctuality in terms of time
Location: I liked beach and yoga!
I had very good experience! Rooms are clean! Food is tasty!
