“not really a palace”
we have been RIU customers for years. we always stay at the palaces. while this is still a nice hotel, it is NOT up to "palace" standards. we were very disappointed. it is all the little things that matter & they did not follow through. If a palce customer reads this they will know what I am talking about. other people at the resort felt the same way. spend less money and get the same service.
“Great Beach Good Resort”
This was our first trip to to Punta Cana. The beach is great. It has alot of palm trees for shade and plenty of places to sit. The food and drinks were average to good. Most of the staff was good but I think I will work on my spanish because communicating was kind of tough. We chose this vaca package because of the low price so we feel like we did pretty well.
“I will be happy to go back but they need to make sure that the bath room fixtures are working proper”
Accommodation was great. Condition of room was excellent. The bathroom fittings were not working properly. The staff kept the room clean at all times. All the meals were healthy and well prepared. The variety of foods was very encouraging and well appreciated. The access to the beach was within reasonable walking distance and the scenery to the beach was very pleasant. The landscaping of the hotel grounds was excellent and well maintained. I wished that I was staying there for a longer period of time.
“Absolutely amazing”
I travel frequently and this was overall the nicest experience I've ever had
“Can't wait to go back”
Overall service at the RIU Palace Punta Cana was amazing and staffs are very helpful and friendly. They are always smiling and happy to serve/ and assist you. However the rooms have a little husky smell- I think it needs some airfresher and scents in the rooms. We didn't not get a nice veiw from our room at all. Make sure to get a pool view or ocean, otherwise you'll be seeing nothing but trees.
“We will definitely return to this hotel - it's only a matter of when!!!”
Just returned from 7 days / 6 nights at the Riu Palace Punta Cana. What a wonderful, beautiful, hotel. The staff was by far a "10" !!! Kind, friendly, accomodating, fun, just awesome people. The buffets for breakfast, lunch and dinner were outstanding - considerable amount of food and a great deal of variety. The only complaint we have is the bed was like sleeping on a slab of wood - very very hard. We got used to it !! I would recommend this resort. You will not be dissatisfied. It is by far the best i have ever stayed at.
“Better Than Expected”
In order to quantify my tastes, I would like to state that I am a "Marriott/Delta-Expectations Traveler". This trip was a last minute booking (within 24 hrs of departure) and it ended up being the best resort on the island, several other guests confirmed this was better than any other resort they had stayed. For this trip, I traveled alone and felt completely safe and secure at all times. The hotel staff checked me in and had my room door open within 10 min of arrival. The only negative about this resort was that the keyhole to my door was always tight (I had to constantly wiggle the key) and that the beds were firm (and were 2 twins made separately & pushed together). The food was good and there were plenty of options, vegan, low cal, low fat, hot, cold, etc. The restaurants were good, but I enjoyed the buffett just as much without the hassle of reserving a dinner time. The pool was always staffed & I could always find a drink whenever I needed one. The servers were even readily available while on the beach. I was especially impressed with the After-Dinner cocktail service along with the mid afternoon fruit tray served beach-side daily. I was never asked or insisted to tip, and the service was great with or without the gratuity. There was just enough entertainment to prevent boredom, but the hotel provided a very relaxing, quiet and enjoyable trip. I wish my Health Insurance covered the cost of this trip, because it was like pure medicine for my soul.
“I rate this 5 star reasort 3 stars”
I was told by expidia that it was an adult only hotel, the rooms were moldy smelling. there was really no entertainment to speak of.
“Great Hotel Can't wait to go back”
The hotel is great, We had a great time, The employees are Great the entertainment is good. The location of the hotel is awsome, The beach is beatifull and the pool is very nice.
“" Horrible food "”
I have been to many RIU Hotels, This by far was the worst. The food was uneatable. Over half the people I met there were either sick or had been from the food. Even the restaurants were just plain bad. Not just one item 95% of it. I wouldn't feed to my neighbors dog. I know 3 people who went home early because of it This is the first bad review I have ever written, I am not a complain type person. So when I tell you it was bad take my advice. If you don't take my advice..make sure you bring plenty of imodeum, because the hotel only gets in 25 boxes a day and are always sold out. The elevators only goes to certain floors, not good when your on the 3rd floor. Only about 10% of the staff understands English. Drinks were average at best. ,The hotel is beautiful, and the expedia rep Susanna was great, but does not make up for the awful excuse for food that you pay good money for. Worst food I have ever eaten ANYWHERE!
