A few disappointments for me and my wife.

Pros: Food was good. Pool and beach area are beautiful. Bar staff and servers are friendly and fun.
We picked this hotel due to the fact that a casino was on the premises. The casino was closed. I believe we should have been informed before we arrived. Things that did not work in our room: 1. Television (took one day to fix) 2. Refrigerator (took 2 days to fix) 3. Hair dryer didn't work (never fixed even though the desk was sending someone up "immediately") 4. Alarm clock (although I never complained since my relaxing vacation was aggravating me) 5. The fan in the room made enough noise that we had to shut it off when we wanted to sleep (again, I never complained due to the aggravation factor)

Pros: The pool and all you can drink
Cons: The refrigerators in the rooms dont work and told most of them does not work in the rooms and the ones that do does not get cold. HUGE inconvenience.
Location: No good shopping malls the store we went to was not what I expected. Prices were very high and they would not negotiate.
It was my first time staying at a RIU resort, however, not my first time in the DR. And, I actually like this resort better than the other two I stayed,which were ALL INCLUSIVE as well. The food was good at the main restaurant which served a huge variety of food. My fav restaurant was the TIANO. Make sure you make reservations for each restaurant when you arrive. The pool was very nice and relaxing. The beach is GORGEOUS.The water is rough this time of year and not as warm as I like but, noone has control of mother nature. :-) I definitely will recommend this resort.

Christmas and New Year Holidays

Pros: The Hotel facilities are quiet new, so that was a plus!
Location: The location is OK, like other Hotels at the Bavaro Beach
We travelled over Punta Cana for several times, but this was our first stay in a RIU Hotel. In other stays we were at one Paradissus Hotel, and in a Iberostar Hotel, in both cases, with any bad experiences. The experience in the RIU Palce Bavaro was not very happy, because we had to fight for getting a roller bed for our 24 old daughter, who travelled with us. The hotel concierge insited that we had to use the sofabed, but it was impossible to sleep in that kind of bed. After the first day, we got a roller bed!!! Also the friendliness of the whole staff must improve, they have to smile a little bit more!!

Fairly new hotel in great condition and right on the beach. Rooms were very nice and overall food experience and drinks were good but not great. Had lots of mosquitoes in the room that had to be dealt with nightly. Maybe that's how it is at all resorts in this area.

Pros: The food was fantastic.
Cons: Kids area and Transportation service
Location: Nothing
Nice hotel, the beach with too much sea weeds, the kids area is not as I expect it in fact it needs to be expanded and renewed. The transportation to go out of the hotel looks like a monopoly controlled by the receptionists or the hotel, it is expensive and inefficient; I felt stuck in a place.

Beautiful Hotel with Good Food and Service

Pros: The view, beach, food at the buffer restaurant, drinks, sun, most of the service.
Cons: Booking the a la carte restaurant, certain staff behavior, seaweeds.
Our check-in experience was weird - we accidentally booked a room for 1 adult, instead of 2. Luckily, the front desk was willing to accommodate us and charge us extra money for an additional person. However, the process was weird as they only wanted cash, and we were able to bargain the price down from $200 extra per night to $100 extra. The quality of the service at the resort was pretty good overall - though there were some outliers of staff that didnt seem to care so much about the guests. Money really talks, so if you want amazing service, you can throw in a couple of bucks and they will suddenly become much nicer. But we didnt want that and relied mostly on ourself for the basic services. The food was pretty good at the buffet restaurant - lot of options for each meal, though the service there and the drinks are not great. That is why it is nice to dine in one of the four restaurants there, but to get into those you have to wake up super early and beat others in line.. in addition, some people tip the person who is in charge of reservations in advance and manage to get reservations for 3-4 days ahead, even though it says same-day booking. That is how the restaurants end up being booked for a few days and it can be very annoying. We managed to get in the best restaurant (Krystal) without a reservation since there were a few tables available and the host was nice. The food at Krystal is great, as is the wine, but it is not as good in the other restraunts.

Unfortunately i lost my brand new iphone 6 and i am 100% sure was stolen by the restorant staff, yet they refused. Management did not do much about it either. Other than that very good resort.

We totally loved our stay. The staff were very attentive, although they never did get us a working refrigerator to cool its never-ending stock of water, soft-drinks and mixers for the in-room multi-variety alcoholic drink dispenser. We found the answer to that fantasy question "How many drinks can you drink, when they're all free"?... the answer is LOTS! Food was great, and diversified, and service was top notch.
