Fun in the SunPosted Aug 20, 2014
Pros: The hotel was clean and the grounds are well maintained.
Cons: The employees should learn to speak more English because it is hard to communicate and make conversations with them.
Location: Th Hotel is like a 20 minutes ride from the airport.
The hotel was clean. We requested for 2 double beds but the beds seems smaller and they were pushed together. The hotel is huge. We requested for an ocean view 3 months in advance but still didn't get it. They said the only available rooms ocean view had ONE bed only?!?!? Why i would never undesrtand. When most of the people who goes there are families. They have good nightly shows very entertaining. They have only one pool. Not too big but it doesnt get crowded. Lots of chairs on the pool and on the beach. No need to wake up early. The employees don't seem very friendly. They just go about their work. You could count with your fingers the few who go out of your way to please and make you happy. The Breakfast and Lunch Food is okay but on your 3rd or 4th day you feel like it's the same thing everyday already. The Dinner Buffets always have a special menu like Lobsters one day, Shrimps the next, etc. They have 3 specialty restaurants you need to make reservations. Food is a hit or miss depending on what you order. There is not much to do outside the hotel so we chose to just stay in. We were there from Aug 13-18. Had great weather.

It surpass my expectationsPosted Aug 19, 2014
Wow! Excellent room. Most of the staff were nice. Montecristo main restaurant was the best selection. Very dissapointed of the taino steakhouse. I asked for a New York steak medium but it was overcooked. The waiters at this restaurant has no concept of the beef cuts. Chicken ceasar salad had no parmesan cheese as advertised and on top of it was saturated with a cheap dressing. Grilled chicken was not grilled but boiled. It was the biggest dissatisfaction. On top of it there was no air conditioner with a 90 degrees weather. The italian restaurant was also a dissapointment. Kristal restaurant was the best. The served you with a real glass of wine. Excellent sea bass. Nice atmosphere. It is the only restaurant I will recommend.nice facilities. Excellent service with drinks by the pool. Overall I would recommend ed.

Best hotel out of the riuPosted Aug 12, 2014
Clean, modern rooms, friendly staff. I had my wedding ceremony on the beach here, although it rained that day, the staff made sure I was still able to have the wedding.

VIP at RiuPosted Aug 11, 2014
Second time to DR was a charm. My first experience was a horrible experience and it all began with my resort. So when choosing Riu this time around I was very on the edge. Upon arrival the lobby area was beautiful. Staff was friendly all around. We upgraded to the VIP access which I must say was well worth it. Being in the general pool when a resort is sold out in not fun. Although it seemed a little suspect that they would bargain a room upgrade that could only be paid by cash. But hey maybe it's how it works. The upgraded was worth it in the long run. Private pool, private bar. Only down side is it's a little distant from the restaurants and lobby. But I guess thats due to the relaxation and privacy offered by upgrading to VIP. We had a room w/ a jacuzzi (which I recommend checking works). The room was great and we were on the first floor a bigger plus. I personally don't wish to walk up 2-3 flights of stairs after a day out in the sun and drinking. The food was good, a variety for everyone's needs. We did visit the Riu Punta Cana which was also very nice. We stayed Thurs-Sun so we spent most of our time relaxing. Drinks were great! If you like your drinks strong you may need to ask for a extra shot on the side, and its ok. REMEMBER ITS ALL INCLUSIVE !!! Everyones experience I'm sure will be different but at the end it's what you make it.
