Wonderful Vacation

Posted Nov 24, 2014
Pros: I liked the layout of the property and the proximity to the beach. Most of all, we liked the fact that there are NO KIDS:-)
Cons: The wine could have been upgraded.
Location: The Riu "sister" properties are nearby. We also did some water sports which was a short walk down the beach.
The Riu Palace Macao was wonderful. The staff was friendly and attentive. The facility was clean, updated and on the beach. The food was excellent and the variety was unbelievable. The liquor was premium and the bartenders made great drinks.

Husband's Birthday.

Posted Nov 16, 2014
Pros: They staff was very friendly, the mini bar was fully stock and if there was something you would have rather had, they went out of the way to get it.
Cons: Softer beds,
Location: They have a street between the resorts for shopping, casino, or you can walk to the markets on the beach. The resort had wind sailing avail we did,
Check in was great, and was greeted with a rum punch drink, We have always stayed at the RIU Palace for the past 6 years. Cabo, Jamaica, Cancun, and now Punta Cana. This was our 1st adult only, It was very good, and I recommend it to anyone that wants to relax. The room was perfect and had fresh fruit when we arrived to it, It over looked the pool which was great. Our 1st morning I made reservation for the specialty dinners. Marco was great in handling all of this since "Sat" was my husband's birthday. I tip him for things he had taken care, and had done that was very much appreciated and greasy the palm always helps. We had reservations at the steak house, and had a great dinner, Marco even brought lobster with our steak. Plenty to eat!! they even brought a cake for my husband. I'm an early riser and found myself reading and having coffee in the dinning room at 5:30am. My husband and I was called by our first name which it made it more personable, and they always had a coffee pot ready! Trip was Nov7-14, and was originally schedule to Puerto Vallarta, RIU Palace but we had to change at the last minute due to Hurricane Vance, The weather was great Low 90's with great breeze at the beach. The swim up bar at the pool was great because there was nothing getting out of hand, and all the people had manors. The evening shows where entertaining, or you could go to the Casino. We spent a few nights walking the beach and looking at the other RIU a total of 5

After seeing our initial room without a view we upgraded to suite with jacuzzi on balcony. Well worth the extra money for my birthday weekend... the food was good except the Japanese restaurant.. not worth a reservation... the pool and beach area were beautiful.. I would stay again.

Best Vacation EVER!!!!

Posted Oct 18, 2014
As soon as we arrived, we were greeted with two "Welcome" glasses of champagne. We checked in and were escorted to our room. It was 2 hrs before check-in, but our room was ready so they let us check in. Room was just as beautiful as it was in the picture. Make a long story short, it was a beautiful experience....almost Euphoric. Staff were attentive, all restaurants were clean and the food was great. Large variety of food. Drinks were good as well. I met lots of ppl from all over the world.

Great hotel with beautiful beaches

Posted Oct 7, 2014
Pros: Beach, water, food, service
Cons: The area where they put on shows reeks on mold; we couldn't stay in there very long.
My husband and I stayed at the Riu Macao the end of September for our one year anniversary. We loved the beaches and the water was amazing. There was great service on the beach especially if you tipped the server. The pools were nice; the water was almost too warm. The pool bar can get a bit loud and crowded toward the end of the day. My husband and I seemed to be the only non-smokers so trying to get away from the other chain smoking guests was sometimes a chore. The food and drinks were great. The restaurants seemed to be closed a lot so that made making dinner reservations difficult. They only offered two times for the dinner reservations, 6:30 and 9. Our room was nice but there was an overwhelming chemical cleaning smell when we first got there. Sometimes when returning to our room there was a sewer smell. My husband isn't bothered by many things so we didn't complain but if I were there alone I would have. We didn't have any issues communicating with the staff and liked the idea that we didn't have to take a tram to get to places around the resort. We have stayed at other Riu Hotels and loved them; the Macao definitely had a lot of the things we loved at other Riu hotels. Would absolutely stay here again but would address any weird rooms smells on arrival.
