Great place to relax.Posted Jun 26, 2015
Pros: We loved this place because it is a smaller resort, not crowded at all. Great place to rest and relax.
Cons: I wasn't crazy about the smell of kind of mildew in in the room, but I don't think you can do much about it in this area with salt waters around.
Location: If you looking for some adventure, there is a park just few minutes away, where you can go for zip-lining, quads tours through the forest, etc.
My daughter chose this resort for her wedding. Resort's architecture and landscaping was beautiful. My daughter always liked castles and it worked for her great - one of the resort buildings was a castle. RE: Rooms. My daughter had a honeymoon suite in the castle with a small private swimming pool outside on their patio. The second floor was like a balcony inside the suite. She had a bedroom there and another - sitting patio. We chose the Beach Front Junior Suite with patio, where after lunch I could relax and read my book. From the patio I could walk to the beach or the swimming pool. Some of our friends who made a reservations for the Junior Suite Ocean View rooms were upgraded to Villas. They had their own private, cute houses. RE: Food. Very nice restaurants, great food. No reservations needed. RE: Wedding. The wedding was organized very well. For us - no stress at all. Many thanks to Hector and his assistant. She was great, very helpful with everything (I'm sorry, I don't remember her name). We also used their photographer - the pictures are amazing.

This Resort is AWESOME!!!!!!!!Posted Jun 25, 2015
Cons: fans in the room
Location: Juinillo Beach is right next door!
Amazing resort if you want to just relax. The staff was the most amazing group of folks ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Carlos and Emilio at the ocean bar and Bernardo at the main pool bar were the absolutely best. They would have your favorite drink for you before you would even ask them. Actually all the staff went above and beyond. Everyone made you feel so at home. We went for our honeymoon during the "slow" season and it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. I recommend a Honeymoon suit as you have your own pool!!!! We were told that as of 2016 it is going to be an adults only resort. Kids or not,go and enjoy the amazing D.R. breeze. Yes there was seaweed on the beach but who needs salt water when you have 5 or more great pools at your fingertips!!!!

Quiet, perfect for honeymoonersPosted Jun 22, 2015
Perfect for those wanting to relax and just hang out at the pool. There was a lot of seaweed in the ocean. They did put up a net to stop it just getting to shore but for several days the beach was unusable. The grounds were beautiful and the hotel and staff were friendly.

The best beach vacation!!!Posted Jun 22, 2015
We stayed at the resort for 8 nights. Everything at this place was 5 stars! If you love to swim at the ocean, it's the best place : no waves and sandy beach. If you are a pool person, you will enjoy several pools with attentive staff offering you drinks all day long :) If you are a "foody" , you will savor the variety of international dishes prepared fresh in front of in one of the best buffet that I have tried. Impeccable service, personal attention and spacious comfortable rooms made our stay a truly amazing experience. We will come back!

Terrible BeachPosted Jun 19, 2015
The staff were wonderful the hotel grounds were nicely manicured however, the beach was horrible. It was full of seaweed and you could not swim. We were there 9 nights, waited a year for this trip just to be disappointed. We could swim or snorkel. We had to pay a cab driver $120 dollars to take us,to a public beach, Macao which was nice clean and clear.

Rough Around the EdgesPosted Jun 17, 2015
Pros: The hotel is beautiful and large and with proper upkeep and some more maintenance it would seem quite luxurious.
Cons: The restaurants need a complete overhaul, the staff has no idea what they are doing. I have never been asked how well I wanted my turkey burger done.
Location: The beach is covered at all times with seaweed and the ocean tends to be cloudy. The snorkeling trips are just boozes cruises with little sea life.
I chose Sanctuary Cap Cana for my honeymoon in June. When we arrived we were not assigned to the Junior Suite with swim out patio that I had requested over the phone but it was no problem we were shown two suites and allowed to choose. The room was large and clean and looked just like the photo but some fixtures were loose and worn and drains would clog on occasion. Overall the property seemed a little worn despite the fancy furniture. The staff seemed eager to help but some requests were handled immediately and some were just forgotten. We were never able to get regular coffee restocked in our room even after talking to the housekeeping staff directly and also the front desk. The concierge booked several activities for us and we gave a generous tip but one trip we were never picked up for and the concierge tried to say the next day that the van was there and we must have missed it. After that we cancelled the next day's activity and he assured us he would take care of it but the following morning we received a call in our room at 8am from the bus waiting in the lobby for us. The restaurants are all mostly pretty terrible. They all offer some approximation of American type restaurants but it is clear that the kitchen staff is not trained in preparing these types of food. There is an entertainment staff that seems to work 24/7 and they are pretty pushy to get you to participate in activities if you want to be near the main pool.

I expected more luxury and more updatedPosted Jun 17, 2015
Husband and I stayed for our honeymoon. The hotel is very peaceful and quiet. We personally wouldn't want to stay for more than 3 days as it is extremely calm and a bit boring. Not a place for kids that's for sure. While there we upgraded to the castle the main building appears very old. No elevators. Where there are elevators they don't work. Seaweed as much as they try to clean it up it is so much of it I mean mounds of it that it make the beach unavailable for use and the smell of fish is horrible. They do their best to remove it but an hour later the seaweed is back to in an overwhelming amount. Food is delicious though and staff is amazing. I would go again but just for spa day. That's all.
