Wow, a slice of heaven for our weddingPosted Mar 8, 2014
Pros: Close airport location, to ocean view, to food, staff phenemonal, only a sandals type may find fault with normal building wear but its not new resort
Cons: Nothing, they cannot change the age of the property but they do a great job on upkeep. That being said there is no negative in our opinion.
Location: shopping via taxi for $80 round trip, 30 min away and driver waits, excursions were plentiful and varied, nice options
We were married at the resort and honeymooned there for 10 days. Incredible!! The staff is top notch and cater to your every need. Hector at the front desk upgraded us to a castle beachfront for our honeymoon, the room was great, view breathtaking with a private beach. We had many staff members that were fantastic but Hector always checking to be sure all was as expected, Jose at the front entrance was eager to help and great sense of humor, Metz at the front desk was another that went above and beyond to provide 5 star service, even jean at the casa Bella who waited on us every morning. This staff understands the word vacation! The rooms are nice sized and clean, with maid service 2x a day. Always had enough towels and incidentals. The food was really really good. You had more then enough to chose from and it all tasted wonderful!!! A lot of fresh fruit is always available and very little down time between meals which meant you could eat about anytime. Room service is 24/7 and was included and very good.. The resort is not new so expect minor signs of wear but very minimal and while we were there they were constantly doing upkeep on the buildings, painting, cleaning etc. We noticed a hammock was ripped and within 24 hours a new hammock was installed, the grounds were immaculate. Staff constantly working. 5 star staff all the way around!!

Great Resort, Staff are super friendlyPosted Mar 7, 2014
Pros: There were 3 of different pools to choose from for your laying out pleasures. They also have some sort of nightly entertainment going on.
Cons: More lounge chairs around the pool areas. Seemed like you had to get up pretty early to reserve your chair.
Location: This resort has several different tours and activities you can go on, but they do cost extra .I would recommend the Outback Safari tour, great tour.
This Resort is top notch. 4 different restaurants to choose from for your evening meal. The buffet for breakfast and Lunch has a wide assortment to choose from. I would definitely go back. They also held a Buffet around the main pool a couple times during the week we were there.

Beautiful scenery and fantastic staff!Posted Mar 5, 2014
The pool bar and pool bar staff were awesome. The grounds looked great. The management was always around making sure you had what you needed. All inclusive was the way to go. Some renovations to the rooms were needed. We stayed in a ocean view suite.

Found Sanctuary in Cap CanaPosted Mar 2, 2014
Pros: Every building is unique and beautifully landscaped, adding to the natural tropical beauty of the place. Staff incredibly helpful and welcoming.
Cons: Glad we didn't stay in castle, it replicates an ancient castle which seemed a little spooky.
Location: Next to Juanillo beach with kayaking, paddle boards. Near Scape Park (Hoya Azule, zip line). 10 min taxi from airport
Wonderful first experience w/ DR and all-inclusive. Architecture, landscaping, staff, food, beach, pools are all outstanding. I loved relaxing at the beach, watching the birds and people, playing in water, kayaking at Juanillo beach, eating, drinking, interacting with staff and learning a little Spanish.

Worst food ever. Staff is uninspired. Rooms are run down and in serious need of renovation. Shame such a crumby hotel on such beautiful grounds.

Gorgeous property, rooms need some updatingPosted Mar 2, 2014
The property that the Sanctuary is on is absolutely gorgeous. The Spanish architecture, the landscaping, and the buildings are cool to just walk around and look at. The rooms (we stayed in oceanfront junior suite) were not great, however. They definitely could've used some updating. I've been in much more modern rooms at other all-inclusive resorts. Because of that I think they felt somewhat dirty/musty. We had several issues with our bathtub. We at times saw random tiny ants in our room. We just didn't feel all that relaxed/comfortable in our room. The pools were nice. The beach on the property is small but there is a huge gorgeous public beach you can easily walk to (where kayaking and paddle boards are included if you stay at sanctuary). Most of the restaurants were nice but the food was just ok. The buffet food at casa Bella and room service left a lot to be desired. Overall though, a beautiful property, just needs some work.

Beautiful Resort but...Posted Feb 27, 2014
Pros: The resort itself was beautiful. The property was very well maintained. The location was quiet and secluded. The pool was very nice.
Cons: Get rid of the checks and making guests feel that they are obligated to leave tips. The checks defeat the whole purpose of all-inclusive.
Location: It's very secluded, which is what we wanted. Nothing to do nearby. We ventured into the "city" once. We were prey for the vultures (locals).
The resort is beautiful, exactly what we wanted for our second honeymoon, but we wouldn't stay there again. Our room was above the Love Bar, so it was very noisy at night. We should have requested a room change, but we didn't. There was only one bar, the Love Bar, and not much to it. All of the restaurants were not available every night. We heard the Wok had the best food, but the one night we planned to eat there, it was closed. For the most part, the food was bad to okay. Food is only prepared as on the menu, so as requested. The best food was from room service, which we had 3-4 nights. The pool was beautiful. It was nice to sit at the bar in the water, but there were no bar stools outside of the water. The pool bar staff was wonderful, except for 2 days in the middle of the week. Those days, the staff was lazy and rude. There is not much of a beach at the resort. We discovered Juanillo Beach, which is only a short walk past the spa. It was a long, beautiful beach (but it did have a lot of seaweed!). There was a nice little beach bar/restaurant with cold beer and great food! We had the all-inclusive package. We didn't understand and didn't care for the fact that we had to sign a check for everything we ate or drank. This was their way of making us feel that we needed to leave a tip. Wristbands would have been better.

Great vacation to relaxPosted Feb 25, 2014
Overall I would say that this was a 4 star hotel. The first day the room smelled like mold but I went to the front desk to talk about it. They took care of it immediately and the smell disappeared. The beach is beautiful. There is room for improvement with the beach chair quality (some of them were broken). The food was good! The best meal was breakfast, the was a vast variety of everything. There are 5 rest on site but the best one was the asian habashi. I would return but I recommend the villas instead of the junior suites.

Loved the EntertainmentPosted Feb 25, 2014
Pros: The entertainment, food and beauty!!!
We had such a great time during our one week stay in February 2014, and the entertainment staff made it so much fun. The resort is very beautiful, quiet and relaxing, and we always had something fun to do thanks to Keila, Ramon and Rocky. Not only did they organize fun and interesting activities, they are such interesting, nice and hardworking people. We had such a great time just talking to them and learning about the island and their culture. If you have the pleasure of coming to this resort, do yourself a favor and participate in the activities and get to know some of the employees. You will meet some of the kindest, fun-loving and hardworking people, while also having an absolute blast!! Thank you Keila, Ramon and Rocky for an amazing week!!! We can't wait to come back!!
