“Great Resort!!!! Get the swim up rooms...”
We stayed at the Royal Suites in the older section and then looked at the swim up rooms. We asked if we could have one of those rooms instead and it was no problem to change rooms for an additional $16 a night! Cheaper than online and It was definetly worth it!! The food was ok we didnt starve Make reservations for all the restaurants the day you get there...Although we went to the Japanese restaurant at 6:30 with no reservations and got right in but others had long waits. All of the hotel staff was wonderful and very helpful.. The ones that didnt speak our language went and got someone who did. The only complaint was the bug bites!! Bring some bug spray with you and use it as you can not feel them biting until you feel them itch!! We did the Seaaquarium tour booked at the hotel and it was sooo much fun!!!! The ride there took us almost an hour after the bus picked up others at different resorts. We got to see some of the other resorts along the way though..
“Another great experience”
This is our 5th time back in the Dominica Republic and our first time where we have gone back to the same hotel. We were there last year and couldin't wait to go again this year. Although they were renovating 2 of the buildings and we experience some inconvenience, on the whole it was a wonderful vacation. Would recommend this hotel to everyone.
“Best Wedding Ever!!”
We travelled to The Royal Suites Turquesa By Palladium on September 2, 2010 through September 11, 2010 for our wedding. We had stayed there previously in February and liked it so much that we decided to have our wedding there. Everything was exactly as it was suppose to be. The Royal Suites are fabulous.....we stayed in a swim out suite in the new section and loved the room. The service is first rate and ALL of the employees that we dealt with were very helpful and friendly ecspecially Carolina the wedding coordinator was wonderful. We had the most amazing wedding day and I didn't have to do anything except show up. We had 10 guests join us for our special day and they stayed at the Palace and was treated with the same amount of excellent service as us. I also flew my photographer out and had amazing pictures. Overall we had an amazing vacation-wedding-honeymoon!!!!
“Excellent Hotel”
Room: one of the most beautiful rooms I have ever seen. It has a private jetub and separate bathroom. The king size bed was also great. Pool and beach: gorgeous. Service: Brillant. Dining: It is very good but I would improve some points. For example, there was not lobster every night and some food in buffet was cold. On the whole, I strongly recommend this hotel.
“Great stay”
Don't be fooled by the "butler service" notion - the person really isn't your butler. Instead, s/he is a helpful sort of concierge for a number of rooms. But given what you are paying, you really didn't think it would be that anyway, did you? This place is terrific - great beach, beautiful rooms, nice pools, and good food. The food isn't American diner food, so don't expect that (and if that's all you'll eat, you probably shouldn't travel abroad in the first place), but it's of good quality, it's interesting, and it's good. The people who work there are to a person friendly and hard working. They don't all speak English, but again if that's a problem for you, you probably shouldn't venture abroad. The grounds of the place are truly spectacular. Bring plenty of sunblock - they sell at the stores on the grounds, but it costs a small fortune!
“Everyone should go”
I was impressed at how organized everything was. Expedia personnel was extremely curteous and knowledgable and left no questions unanswered. The one excursion I booked via Expedia (to Catalina & Altos de Chavon) was especially organized and well planned. The Hotel/Resort was equally wonderful. The rooms were great, food was good, and more smiles from the personel. I have been recommending this trip to all my friends and colleagues since my return and I would definitely go back.
“Nice resort, but beware of casino.”
First the bad news, the casino is not regulated and is not affiliated with the resort. They give you promotional chips to try to get you hooked on a game called progressive roulette. Internet search "progressive roulette Dominican Republic" and you will find stories of people that have lost thousands of dollars playing this game. It is a scam all the way. I would not put it past them to not have full decks and have marked cards at the tables. Stay away from the casino. The resort is very nice with beautiful beaches. They maintain it well with excellent service. The restaurants are decent. However, you cannot get mixed drinks with dinner. The best for us was the Japanese restaurant. Nice room, very nice pools, excellent expresso drinks and decent spa. It is hard to go wrong there as long as you stay out of the casino.
“Will return”
From the moment we arrived we were overwhelmed by the friendly service and beauty of the hotel. The variety and Quality of food was good. We really enjoyed the beach area where we spent most of our time (they have food and drink service there). The employees were exceptionaly wondeful and catered to our every need. we had very little trouble with language, there was always someone who could translate if needed. We will definetly return!
“can't wait to go back”
great place for vacation
“Paradise - Amazing beach. Outstanding service staff”
Cant say enough about the beach. Probably the best ive seen. Literally paradise. Great thing about the Royal is that you have a more cabanas/chairs and shaded areas at the beach front compared to the neighboring Palladium Palace and Bavaro [the 2 sister resorts in the "Palladium City". The Complex is HUGE, and you have access to all restaurants and bars at all 3 resorts [Royal is exclusively for Royal guests]. Staying at the royal, you will find the crowd to be a lot different. def no kids, and lots of european couples [german, spanish, etc]. The service staff - cant say enough. The beach waiter/waitress - excellent! They bring out pizza, salads, sandwiches, and all the drinks you could want literally every 5 mins. The pool bar, pretty fun during the day, quiet chill scene at night - if you want a more lively bar go to Palladium Palace lobby bar or the Disco if thats your thing. The Disco will be a younger crowd though. Never tried the sports bar, but from what we heard its a #$%^& Bar, not a sports bar. Food - Royal Gourmet [only for Royal Guests - i loved the bfast, hated the lunch and dinner]. The buffets - i loved - amazing variety and clean. A La cartes, long waits [Royal guests get preference on reservations so make yours the morning of i would say]. Didnt try the Italian, but heard it was great. Brazilian was good too. In any case, overall, perfect relaxing vacay, paradise. And be prepared to hear some Merengue music. Great stuff! You'll come home singing OMEGA.
