A Birthday to Remember!

Pros: The topnotch service from literally start to finish went above and beyond my expectations, the room, the grounds, the beach...everything!
Cons: The fitness room was very small and very warm. Some of the equipment was not working and the selections of hand weights was pretty bad.
Location: We were right on the beach with access to many pools and restaurants around the resort. The ecological reserve was amazing. Not a nightclub hotspot.
I wanted to treat my husband to a special getaway for his 50th birthday. Our stay at the Tortuga Bay Hotel proved to be an outstanding choice. It was everything I could of hoped for and then some. From the moment we arrived (starting at the airport), we felt welcomed and pampered. There was nothing the wonderful staff at the resort wouldn't do for you and always with a smile. Our room was beautiful with wonderful ocean views from our expansive balcony. The on site ecological reserve was amazing with beautiful fresh water pools for swimming. We were looking for a quiet, low key place to relax and revitalize after a daunting New England winter and Tortuga Bay delivered. Tortuga Bay was by far one of the nicest places I have ever visited and I would highly recommend it to everyone.

A Tranquil Oasis in Punta Cana

Pros: 1) Private beach with A+ service. 2) Villa was 40 feet from the beach. 3) Immaculate and spacious accommodations. 4) Amazing staff (world class!).
Cons: 1) We did have a kitchen mix up with our dinners one night. 2) The property map is not to scale and could be more descriptive.
Location: Tortuga Bay is part of a gated resort in a beautiful setting. Water sports are mostly at the Westin, on property. Complimentary van service is great.
From meeting our personal escort at the airport, being taken to a VIP Immigration/Customs area, and then driven to the hotel in their private van, we knew we were in for a special vacation. The hotel grounds and facilities are in a class by themselves. The staff, which outnumbers the guests by a 3 to 1 ratio, was the most professional and friendly I have ever experienced. This is not an all inclusive mega-hotel. It is a little piece of paradise where every guest is greeted by name, and you get to know the staff by name very quickly. Returning to the airport (reluctantly!) was an even better experience than the arrival. Again, you are met curbside by a staff member who oversees luggage check-in (VIP line) and takes you to their private waiting lounge. Food and beverages were provided at no cost and when it was time to board we were escorted to the plane on the tarmac by golf cart, and were the first to get on board (and we were NOT traveling in the airline first class section). It was no surprise that our luggage was the first to the baggage carousel in Philadelphia.

Absolutely wonderful resort!

Pros: Wonderful staff who pays close attention to the guests. Beautiful accomodations and great food!
Cons: The only improvement could be to expedite the beach service. There was one staff member handling everyone on the beach.
Location: Resort provides a free transpo to Punta Cana village with restaurants and stores, including a grocery store. But you won't want to leave the resort!
We had initally booked at the Hard Rock in Punta Cana for a four night stay. Needless to say, our experience at the Hard Rock was atrocious. We were so lucky that we found a suite at Tortuga Bay. The staff were fantastic and immediately sent one of their drivers to pick us up and bring us to Tortuga Bay. I cannot say enough good things about the staff! They were so wonderful and knew you by name from the time you arrived. We had a beautiful beachfront suite on the far end of the resort. The food was fantastic, which was a nice change from the substandard food we had at the Hard Rock. After a few hours at Tortuga Bay, my boyfriend looked at me and said "I REALLY wish we had been booked to stay here the entire time. This place is amazing!" We have stayed at some of the finest resorts around the world, and we could not have been happier with our experience at Tortuga Bay. We will be going back for another visit very soon!

Unbelievable resort.

This is one of the most beautiful resorts we've ever been to around the world. The staff is extremely friendly and courteous, always asking if everything is to our liking and making sure to fill every request, although sometimes a little slowly, but it is the Caribbean and you are on vacation. The ocean front junior suite is truly exceptional. Second floor huge room with king bed facing floor to ceiling windows, with 2 full bathrooms one with shower stall and one with tub, two balconies, one with a 2 person jacuzzi tub, free Wi-Fi and every amenity you could want. Two beautiful golf courses right there and water sports, tennis, fitness center and spa. The grounds were immaculate. Also the personal service at the airport is mind blowing. Pick you up right at the plane steps, whisk you away in a cart, personally get you through immigration and customs with no waiting in lines and then right into a van to take you to the resort within minutes where a personal concierge goes with you in your golf cart to use during your entire stay and escorts you to your room to sign in and explain everything including your own cell phone to contact her/him anytime/anyplace for assistance, etc. With only 35 suites or so, it feels like your have the place to yourself. Many times we were at the pool or on the beach with no one else around. Truly for those who like privacy. Will definitely return.

Great Romantic Getaway, BUT room for improvement

Excellent resort for a romantic 4 to 5 day getaway!!! Airport experience, grounds, rooms, beach, golf cart are all fabulous BUT there is room for improvement: 1. Food not good. Menu is overly complicated, prices too high, food was below average. They would be much better off with a fresh, simple menu --- fresh salads, fresh grilled seafood/chicken, rice/veggies, nice desserts. (We both got sick.) 2. Staff needs to learn English. At times it was very difficult to communicate. 3. Neighboring resort is in rough shape. 4. Need to improve on transportation options to other parts of island --- day trips could be better coordinated and cheaper. If I were to do it again I would rent a car and on the first day I would go to the grocery store.

Beautiful Hotel with outstanding service

This is the perfect hotel for a relaxing and pampering vacation. The service is impeccable and setting is extremely appealing on the eye. The spa is clean, modern and very knowledgeable. The golf course is very well maintained, well designed and picturesque. I would recommend this hotel for anyone interested in enjoying a private stay on the beach with good food and relaxation.

perfect vacation

The hotel was luxurious yet not too stuffy. The staff were nice, gracious and accomodating. We had our own personal butler -type person who made sure we had all we needed. The room was spacious and just beautiful. Breakfast was included and delivered and set up everyday on the wrap-around porch in the sunshine. The beach was great, pool is wonderful and the food in the restaurants just great. Not many choices for the picky toddler, but we made due. Our son had a lot of spagetthi. The sister hotel, punta cana, was great for an excursion but we heard that the accomodations there were substandard. Also, there was a noticable difference in the service. We also were given our own golf cart as transportation for our stay. It is a quiet vacation spot. I beleive there are shows and casinos but we didn't participate since we traveled with our 3 year old. We cannot wait to go back. We recommend this hotel. Also, the VIP service at the airport was simply invaluable. Don't forget to travel with cash as you need $10 per person to enter the country.
