“Great Hotel in the boonies”

The Doubletree is a wonderful resort with great service, food, staff, and facilities. We have stayed there many times in the past and are always happy with the friendliness and courtesy of the staff. Great place to stay to travel from or just float around one of the swim-up bars. It is located in the boonies but is near a major highway so access is easy. Basic shopping is also nearby in Puntareanus, a very colorful Costa Rican town. Ask the front desk about feeding the monkeys at a local woman's home nearby!

We just came back from Costa Rica, a 25th wedding anniversary vacation of two weeks. Our last 6 nights and 7 days were spent at the Doubletree Resort in Puntarenas. This is an extremely nice hotel, good for couples and families. There is a multitude of things to do. The restaurants and buffet have very good food. The snack bar and fruit stands were great, although I wish the snack bar had been open later in the evening and a good time to close would have been around 7:30. The pools with their swim-up bars was great (this is especially the way to go with All-Inclusive stays like we had). The hotel staff were all great as well as the room service employees. One word of caution! When it rains be extremely careful when walking the outside hallways. The smooth tiles are extremely slippery when wet, I recommend that you wear rubber soled "non-skid" shoes when walking on the wet tiles. Do not go barefoot on the tiles outside the rooms in the 200 or 300 series buildings when they are wet, it is like walking on a slippery, soapy floor! The beach in front of the hotel is not good for swimming, but with the three pools and a nice view it is good enough. Some were doing a little body surfing near the pier but the water is murky and there are many rocks. Oh ya! The rocks near the pier have a home of iguanas, fun to watch and photo.

“Great Customer Service”

The staff was super friendly and always willing to help in any way possible. I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The only downfall was the beach. Puntarenas is a port town, so the water is dirty. Don't recommend going in the water. The pools are really nice and clean though.

great place to stay,you should plan side trips in advance. If you don't take advantage of the Ala cart restaurants you are missing out.

“Doubletree - Hilton Hotel”

Our stay at the hotel was awesome! The service, food, atmosphere, entertainment and activities were exceptional. Our son, who is 12 years old, rated the hotel high as well. I can tell that boreddom was never entertained by our family. Our son especially enjoyed the pool, making new friends, shows and the teen club. The staff spoke fluid english and was responsive to our requests. We made an excellent choice and did not regret our vacation in any way. Enjoy!

My wife and I celebrated a second honeymoon in this very romantic place. There was enough activities on the hotel grounds that going out wasn't necessary. Great food and fabulous service :)

“Had a great stay!”

We were a group of 4 with ages ranging from 72 to 13. All were impressed with the Doubletree and had plenty to do at the property and surrounding area for the week. We researched the area and property before going and were prepared for the black volcanic sand beach and the fact that one does not swim in the gulf at this location. The many pools and the beautiful grounds with plenty of activity more than made up for this. Food was good with a great assortment and not too spicy for our group. Staff was courteous and very helpful. The guests tended to vary during the week from a lot of locals over the weekend to various tour groups during mid week. Communication (English) was not an issue. Our only recommendation for improvement would be for the resort to arrange or provide recommendations for transportation from the airport in San Jose. Almost a 2 hour drive. All we got from them was that they do not provide it and was something that we had to arrange. We did some internet research and located Costa Rica Vacations and lucked out here.
