“"Another Hotel"”
The staff tries to make the best for the guests. The room had a problem with the air conditioning and they couldn't solve it. The beach is not suitable for swimming and staying in the sand. Excellent restaurants and very good service. People from the staff very kind and polite.
“Love the staff”
Our stay at Doubletree was definitely a memorable one. Although the hotel is lacking in some areas i.e. beach, nightlife etc. the staff is incredible. They are warm and welcoming. We felt safe and had a great time. The location of the hotel is not the best. Yet it is accessible to the major tourist spots i.e. Manuel Antonio, Jaco beach etc. So book plenty of tours. There is only so much alcohol you can drink before you're completely bored. I'm not sure I would go back to Doubletree but I fell in love with Costa Rica and the ticos. Pura Vida Costa Rica!
“Bring boardgames.. and book tours!”
The menu did not vary much especially during breakfast time. My favorite night had to have been Costa Rican typico night where typical Costa Rican food was served. Service was great! Employees were friendly. I stayed in building #1... the room wasn't all that clean and we discovered a small lizard in our room. At least it wasn't a cockroach. Funny enough, it was comfortable. Pools were pretty good. Beach was volcanic and not the white sandiness I'm use to. Nightlife was pretty much dead... so if you're in the 20-30 range... bring lots of boardgames. There were a lot of kids... A LOT! We use the services of Odyssey Travel. Definite recommend!!!! Their employees were respectful and professional. Always on time and courteous... and cheap! They took us to the Manuel Antonio Natural Reserve Park, the Arenal Volcano, and ziplining (our absolute favorite).
“"No useable beach, will not be back."”
The beach was strewn with driftwood that wasn't cleaned every morning. The sand was volcanic rock, the water brown and black and when waves receded they pulled large rocks smashing against your ankles. The food was the same every day, not very good, the disco was empty every night.
“costa rica is beautiful”
plumbing driped all night, floor tiles and grout cracked and falling apart, we had a commercial size cement mixer 5 ft outside our back door, window. paint peeling off walls, bathroom in dire need of remodeling, etc.
“Nice resort but poor customer service”
Overall the resort was very nice, especially for a family with children. The pools were beautiful and warm the the resort was well kept and clean. The food choices were limited to a buffet and a snack bar if you didn't stay for a minimum of three nights. Reservations at the other two restaurants were very hard to get. Customer service was not so good. We had quite a few small things come up that the staff was not too eager to rectify. For example, my friend's room was on the first floor facing the parking lot. Small children and car alarms don't mix during the middle of the night. After much complaining they offerend to switch her room. The safe and the TV in her room also had to be fixed/replaced. My room on the other hand was beautiful and had a great patio to look out on. It was after the first night though that I discovered the bed sheets my children had slept on were DIRTY! Although the sheets were changed promptly we also brought all of this to the attention of a manager and it took an hour of waiting for her to tell us the the supervisor who could do anything for us was not available. Not acceptable. Eventually we spoke to him and he promised us something for a future visit. What that something is I don't know. I guess we'll find out if we ever go back. With so many other beautiful places in Costa Rica, I don't know if we'll take him up on that.
“Hmm”
This was my first time in Costa Rica.. Staff was GREAT... Beach was not what I expected the water was not blue at all!.. Rooms were very clean, shower was luke warm you would be lucky to get hot water.. Food at the restaurants were delicious.. As far as food from the buffet and snack bar it was mostly the same every day which you get bored of.. As far as tours a must do hotel charges 20 dollars more but if you go across the street very reasonable prices and very well worth it.
“good value in Costa Rica”
Food at buffets really wonderful, enjoyed our stay tremendously. Rooms well maintained and clean. Very crowded Easter weekend but other wise fine. Only problem, day of checkout since we did not leave the property right at noon, they charged us $20 per person to use the pool! Never had that happen before at any resort in U.S. or abroad, thought it was a bit extreme. Concierge very helpful in planning day trips.
“Great Hotel in the boonies”
The Doubletree is a wonderful resort with great service, food, staff, and facilities. We have stayed there many times in the past and are always happy with the friendliness and courtesy of the staff. Great place to stay to travel from or just float around one of the swim-up bars. It is located in the boonies but is near a major highway so access is easy. Basic shopping is also nearby in Puntareanus, a very colorful Costa Rican town. Ask the front desk about feeding the monkeys at a local woman's home nearby!
“Good All-Inclusive”
The hotel was clean, the food was good, and the staff was helpful.
