Excellent restaurant. The room we stayed in felt a bit tired.

The hotel is from the 1930’s and is not super soundproof. The restaurant in the hotel is supposed to be one of the best in Clermont. I did not make a reservation in advance and I could not get into the restaurant and I was not happy about being a guest at the hotel with no access to the restaurant at night. However, it was a Saturday evening – the busy night. The view is beautiful from the hotel. A big plus is that the hotel is around the corner, a couple of blocks, walking distance, from the Royat Casino and some bistro’s in Royat. This is one of the better hotel’s in Clermont-Ferrand.

This is how a Hotel/Restaurant should bePosted Mar 28, 2011
A little difficult to find, though the hotel could be seen from some distance away, but the journey was very worth it. A quirky (but in a nice way) entrance, very Art-Deco. Reception very efficient, with the Sommelier showing us to our room on the top floor via a quaint open cage lift that just fits 3 people (or 2 with luggage!) to an immaculate room with a view over Clermont Ferand and the sunset - simply stunning. The restaurant is not to be missed as the meal was one of the very best we have experienced - ever! AND that includes many visits to Michelin starred venues both in France and the UK. Make sure you are hungry before you sample the set meal, although each serving was small (not too sure whether to eat them, or mount them on the wall, as each was an artistic presentation, but superbly presented and the taste! A wow factor on two planes each time. The bed was extremely comfortable, the room peaceful and airy (did I mention the view?) and the attentiveness of all of the staff from Madam, through reception, the sommelier and all the waiting staff was memorable. What can I say - well worth the journey.
