“Magical”

Le Chateau Frontenac lived up to our expectations on our recent honeymoon visit. The ameneties were gracious, cocktail hour and breakfast on the 14th floor could not have been nicer. Intimate and comfortable. We salute your attention to the finest details.

“Le Chateau Frontenac”

We had a wonderful stay at "Le Chateau" last week. The hotel staff was surprisingly friendly and very accommodating. The hotel itself was everything we expected. Beautiful old property in the heart of Quebec City. Everything was within walking distance. Staff was more than willing to recommend good restaurants and arrange excursions. I dusted off my old high school French and found that the staff was delighted to hear it, however poorly executed. Two minor complaints: there is a hotel tour available and while entertaining, it was a bit pricey for what you get, and hotel guests do not get a discount. The second complaint was more of a concern. The. Hotel advertises it's wi-fi,but doesn't tell you that there is a charge for it. We were trying to avoid cell phone use due to cost, and checking in through e-mail, but the high cost of Internet access at the hotel forced us to do our Internet stuff at restaurants and the like. Very modestly priced hotels have free Wi-fi, and it seems odd that this world class property does not.

Area recommendations
The old quarter was the only part we got to, but it could keep you occupied for days.
Events and shows
We were there at the end of August. Cirque de Soleil does a free show every Summer night, and it was fantastic. A "must do"

“Felt like to stepped back in time”

Everything about this hotel expressed class and first rate service. The promenade was very romantic, and what a view! The hotel hosted visitors from all over the world. The one drawback was that the hotel was doing work on the front entrance so we could not get the fall feeling upon entering.

Area recommendations
Old Quebec and the under city are worth the time. Didn't have much time to visit outside the area even though we had a car.

“wonderful”

Enjoyed our stay in a very nice well kept 'castle'--especially after they changed our room to a better air conditioned room--beds quite comfortable

Area recommendations
Entire surrounding area (with a boardwalk on one side) has many shoppes, sidwalk art, many small sidewalk eating places
When to go
August-lots of families/children--pool kind of small for that
Getting there
Taxi from airport is a distance and kind of costly
Dining
very expensive in hotel but many nearby restaurants with great food (on advice of conceige)--hotel breakfast buffet expensive but very nice and comprehensive
Events and shows
Very nice shuttle bus trip to Falls and Orleans island (a must see)
Outdoors or beach
Wonderful place, clean, lots of musicians always playing music and street entertainers very fascinting

“Exceeded Expectations!”

The hotel was terrific - incredible character and location. Room was clean and very comfortable, service was great, The staff was very helpful and friendly. Fitness center was very nice, cardio and weight room was not large but well equipped. The pool, hot tub and locker rooms were very nice. Hotel restaurants were quite good - service, ambience, and food. The location of the hotel is incredible - beautiful views overlooking both the old part of the city and the St. Lawrence. Very convenient for walking around both the upper and lower parts of the old city. Bistros, great shops, street artists, musicians, historic churches and cathedral's all within easy walking distance. We took a chance on the location and the hotel - used reviews to help make the decision. We went anticipating a good experience and Quebec City and the hotel Frontenac exceeded our expectations. It was a perfect 30th wedding anniversary trip - very romantic. We will definately make a return trip. The hotel was undergoing restoration work - it was good to see investment in this historic landmark. The restoration work was not disruptive or inconvenient and did not affect any services or amenities.

“unfortunatelly”

I made a reservation for a two- bed room. However, the room was a one-bed room. Although the stuff changed the room to a two-bed room, it was much terrible. The hot water included sand and the light in the rest room was burned out. The hotel was under construction. We were not able to see anything although we reserved a good view room with additional cost.

“Fabulous Historic Hotel maintained in period style but with every convenience.”

Need directions? See the front desk. What's fun to do tonight? See the front desk. Where can I find...?See the front desk. No question is too small, no need is a chore. We could all take a lesson from the extreme customer service and friendlyness of the staff of the Chateau Frontenac. The tour of the hotel is well worth the time and small cost. Very informative and very interesting but also entertaining. Can't wait to stay at the Frontenac again - excellent location, excellent staff, excellent rooms, excellent Hotel! Merci Beaucoup!

Area recommendations
The old walled city is fun for history buffs but also has excellent shopping and beautiful churches. Within a short walk are the Citidel and the Discovery Center - both present excellent tours for those who like military history. A pleasant walk to the Musee National des Beaux Arts Quebec and the day can be enjoyed in a fabulous and huge art museum with gardens and grounds to explore. Just below Chateau Frontenac is Petite Champlain where shopping for anything you might like can be found. And the Quebec Plein Air Market and a huge local market can be found along the waterfront. What would you like to do? You can find it in Quebec City!
Events and shows
Cirque de Soleil puts on a free show most nights during the summer. Worth the short walk and guaranteed to be entertaining! About a hour long it's perfect for an evening entertainment and the beautiful area surrounding provides a nice walk.

“Nice Hotel, but”

We enjoyed our stay, beautiful hotel, City. I founded it expensive after going directly from an other hotel in Maine that charged about the same price for a room with Wi FI and a breakfast buffet included in their price. The breakfast buffet at The Chateau, was very nice but pricey, first day they turned a family away after they were seated, because they were no longer serving breakfast. Those of us who noticed were displeased. Next day service was improved. Also the Chateau charges per day to park a vehicle in their garage, big problem finding parking in the old part of the city I would recommend the hotel, just the same

“Best place to stay in Quebec”

Yes, it is more expensive than some of the other upscale hotels on Expedia but the extra price is well worth it for the location. The hotel is close to just about everything in Old Quebec City. The bed was the best we’ve ever experienced in a hotel (my husband can be super critical). The staff was accommodating and the concierge very helpful and knowledgeable, more so than the tourist center across the street. We also pleased to find that all major tours started at the hotel and that there was a Starbucks in the bottom lobby. When and if we go back to QC we will definitely stay at the Fairmont.

Area recommendations
