Had to get out early !!!

Posted Sep 17, 2014
Pros: The staff was very efficient, helpful and friendly.
Cons: Reduce the price. $200/250 would be more realistic. Maybe it was overpriced due to the bike race.
Location: Location is great in Old Town. Not really much to do except shop and eat.
This is a nice hotel ... but badly over-priced, At about $400 a night, you should at least get free parking. Because of a bike race in Quebec City, get out in the early morning or be forced to stay until after 4PM (and then fight the traffic). Great choice !!!

Wi-fi not included

Posted Sep 13, 2014
After paying a premium for a "deluxe" room with city view , a charge of $14 Canadian per day is tacked on for wi-fi. Unbelievable that in this technological age, wi-fi is not included at a five star hotel.

We had a lovely 3 day stay.

Posted Sep 8, 2014
Pros: We liked everything, except the charge for internet service. The free parking for hybrid cars was a nice surprise. The friendly staff were exceptional
Cons: Only the charge for the internet. We have no other complaints.
Location: The tourism information, numerous sites, restaurants, carriage rides and elevator to the lower level of the city are all right outside the hotel.
Great location. Excellent hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. No parking fee for hybrid cars was a great bonus. The hotel restaurants were wonderful. It was nice to see how dog friendly the hotel was. We were a little disappointed at the daily charge for internet service, but, that would be our ONLY complaint.

Pet friendly, in the heart of it all.

Posted Sep 7, 2014
Beautiful property, fabulous view, right in the middle of everything. We arrived early, but accommodated right away, upgraded to a room with a view with our Fairmont President's card. Requested a pet friendly room, (extra $30 a night), but totally worth it. Room was immaculate, and you would never tell other animals had stayed prior. They even came up a few minutes after we checked in, with bowls & dog treats for our little guy. We had recently stayed at another "pet friendly" hotel, that stunk of cat urine, and I ended up having a terrible allergic reaction. Frontenac was so clean, I had no issue at all. Room service was very reasonably priced. Parking is expensive, but inexpensive 24 hr at Discovery Pavilion across from 860 Av. Wilfred Laurier. Perfect location!

Classic and Grand

Posted Sep 5, 2014
Pros: Location, restaurant
Location: Walk the old city. Many very good restaurants.
Staying at the Frontenac is an event and the reason to stay here. There are less expensive, quieter and more charming places in Quebec City but the Frontenac is in the center of it all and thus a very busy place. Our room was just recently renovated. Nice and comfortable. Breakfast buffet is great. Our one dinner at the restaurant, which overlooks the boardwalk and St. Lawrence with a lovely view, was great as well.

A hotel with old world charm

Posted Sep 1, 2014
Pros: The location
Cons: Add the in-room safe which is a must in a 5 star hotel today
Location: It is the focal point of old Quebec, all tour buses starts from there. The broad walk has the most spectacular view of the river.
I was very impressed with the hotel as far as the location, the structure and the beautiful copper roof. Our room is a little small, and has no in-room safe and a very small closet. Hard to imagine that they didn't install that when they renovated it. Le Sam is a restaurant with beautiful river view, high tea is a must.

Am I in Paris?

Posted Aug 28, 2014
Pros: The staff always acknowledge me and were very unpretentious. The restaurants and bar were stunning. The food was spectacular.
Cons: I would recommend a dress code for the restaurants.
Location: cafes galore, bistros fine dining and just the beautiful ambiance of the streets.
The moment I walked into the lobby of Chateau Frontenac, I knew I had chosen the right place. The attention to detail kept my eyes moving from the Lavender purple/ blue flowers set in large brass vases to above me, dark blue waffle ceilings with stunning light fixtures. If you want to escape the day to day routine, give up the 5 weekends away up north camping and save your money to stay in one spectacular place.

Can't get better than a Castle

Posted Aug 26, 2014
Pros: Location, staff, atmosphere
Cons: The fact that basic amenities like a mini fridge and wifi were not included is absurd and makes the hotel chain feel cheap.
Location: The PERFECT location. Don't dine in the restaurant downstairs - there are SO MANY excellent restaurants and they're all competing for your business.
The Chateau Frontenac is the epitome of Old Quebec City. You can't beat it for location and style. You feel like royalty driving up to the doors, and walking inside. Every inch of this hotel is beautiful and classy. The staff was friendly and attentive, and they all spoke English, which we weren't expecting. The room was very clean with a gorgeous view. The pool was nice, with towel service, a hot tub and a nice terrace with lounge chairs outside. Now for the downsides - the price, obviously is steep. However, this was a once in a lifetime trip for us, so we splurged. We visited 1608, the wine and cheese bar on our first night. They use an ipad with app for their menu - which is cool, if it had worked properly. No one explained how the cheese selection worked, and trying to order wine by the glass proved difficult with not much selection. The biggest issue for me was the lack of amenities, and the feeling that the Fairmont is just trying to squeeze every last penny out of you. No free wifi?? You can get free wifi in a McDonalds for crying out loud. And you have to rent a mini fridge? Absurd. Also, there was a mini bar, with a large bottle of water placed next to the written menu that said "this bottle of water is here for your convenience"...and then the fine print read that your room would be charged if consumed. Seriously? Overall a fantastic experience, but I can't help but feel like if you pay premium prices, you should get all the amenities with it

Nice hotel, close to many restaurants.

Posted Aug 24, 2014
Pros: As above
Cons: Nothing specific.
Location: Hotel is in the middle of the old city, next to the famous boardwalk where street performers visit regularly. Saturday evening included fireworks.
Hotel was comfortable and close to numerous restaurants and local attractions. Everything within a reasonable walking distance.
