“"Quebec's best keep secret"”

Everything at this hotel was great. I would definitely recommend this hotel. This is the fourth time I have been to Quebec and this was the best place I have stayed. The lounge in the reception area was a great place to hang out with friends. The breakfast was plentiful and a very pleasant surprise. The view out the front window overlooking the park and river is fabulous. It is also quite inexpensive compared to other places in the area and convenient to so many shops and restaurants.

“Great location!”

The hotel was clean, and the location was great. My room was a little small, but since I spent very little time in the room except to sleep this was not an issue for me.

“Charmiing Hotel in the Heart of Old Quebec”

We stayed 2 nights in August, 2011 and were pleasantly surprised. The price of the hotel was within our budget, yet was quite clean, comfortable and charming. The room with a queen bed was not overly large, but it had everything one needs. Bathrooms have been updated with new tile, sinks and tubs and bed was very comfortable. Free wi-fi in the rooms, or use the computer downstairs, and parking was only $15 per day...way below what other hotels charge. There is coffee/tea available all day and a nice ambience in the lobby/front desk area to sit and chat. The hotel staff were all extremely knowledgeable about the area, and were quite helpful. Location is perfect, directly across from a beautiful park, a block from the boardwalk, and Hotel Frontenac, yet on a quiet street. It rained our second day there, but wasn't cold, so we walked around most of the day. Even wet and overcast, the city is beautiful and worthy of photographs. We would stay at this hotel again in a heartbeat.

Area recommendations
The city is perfect for walking, but is extremely hilly. Here your car is a liability. We only saw the upper city, as we only had 1 1/2 days. If you see the lower city, you may need to take the funicular back up and give your feet a break.
When to go
I highly recomment August, but I understand that late May thru September are all good times.
What to pack
Comfortable walking shoes are a MUST! Camera...there are no bad photos in this city.

“Cozy hotel”

I really liked this hotel. The room was small but we were only there to sleep. We had a queen size bed and the room faced the St. Lawrence Seaway. The boardwalk is only 1 and a half blocks away. The trees in the park adjacent to the hotel blocked most of the view of the seaway. The continental breakfast was a nice touch and we ate there every morning. All of the staff were very attentive. You can walk to almost everything from the hotel. Shops and restaurants are only two blocks away on St. Louis Street. Walk diagonally across the park and you will be at the Chateau Frontenac, a very large and beautiful hotel. I recommend the tour there, it was very interesting. Another recommended tour is to St. Anne's, a beautiful cathedral, and the water falls. I would definitely stay there again.

Area recommendations
I recomend the area where we stayed as this was convienient to everything. The area felt very safe and the boardwalk was wonderful for watching the ships travel the river.

“Nice location next to park and Frontenac”

The Bellevue is aptly named as it faces a lovely park next to the St Lawrence River. It has easy access to the Promenade Dufferin and the 370+ steps to the terrace overlooking the river. It is a little far from Rue St Jean, but in Quebec City all is within walking distance. The Frontenac is 3X the price and is to the left of the Bellevue. The included breakfast is fine, and a coffee and tea service is gratis all day. We had a basement room so our view was limited, but we could see the river and the park. The staff was helpful and it was a quiet hotel- a nice change and a good value. We recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

“Wonderful time at the Chateau Bellevue”

We had a wonderful time at the Hotel Chateau Bellevue. It was perfectly situated, just across a small park from the Chateau Frontenac, and the Terrasse Dufferin boardwalk and within easy walking distance of all the sites including the Funicular to the Lower Town. Although the area was close to everything, it was quiet with very little street traffic. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. I liked it that the hotel was very conscious of being eco-friendly with soap, shampoo, and conditioner in dispensers rather than in those little bottles and places to recycle bottles and cans. The staff was friendly and answered questions readily. The lobby/lounge/dining area was a pleasant place to sit, have a drink from the wine bar machine, look things up on the computer, and chat with other guests. I would definitely stay at the Bellevue next time I am in Quebec City and recommend it to friends.

Area recommendations
Rue Saint-Louis has wonderful restaurants, we especially liked the Cafe de Paris, and the Parmesan, both of which have live music. See the changing of the guard at 10:00 am and go on the tour of the Citadelle (short walk from the hotel) if you are interested in the military history of Quebec. A stroll along the boardwalk, with the various street performers in the evening is fun with a beautiful view. Also there is an interesting tour of the Chateau Frontenac with costumed guides where you get to see some interesting rooms not open to the public and hear about it's history.

“Basement room reeked of mold”

They put us in a dark damp basement room with only one small window. There was black mold on the bathroom ceiling and the entire room reeked of mold. We were awakened by the sound of a grinding furnace fan every morning. When we pointed out these concerns twice to hotel staff, they did nothing. That is the negative. The positive is that the hotel is ideally located, is a nice size, and has a nice continental breakfast and coffee machine. If you stay here, tell them NOT to put you a basement room!

Comment from the hotel's management
Rooms with two double beds are all at the street level. The window is, yes, facing, the street. However, since last fall, we have invested money to renovate some of those rooms. They have now a wood floor and a stone wall, and the furniture has been refreshed as pretty much everything in the rooms. And, finally, about the reaction of the hotel staff, if the clients ask for a room with two double beds, we really have limited actions because we don't have a lot of room with two beds (4). We always try to do our best to give the best experience to our clients.
