Nice place, Great Service.

Posted Apr 6, 2015
Pros: The apartments are great, and have a great view.
Cons: Value for money, for the price we paid, we did not have the rooms serviced nor is it that close the town centre.
Location: Queenstown has lots of things to do. A few too many people, if thats your thing thats fine, if its not - go to wanaka.
Stayed here for 4 nights in a 2 bedroom apartment, the staff are very helpful and are very useful when booking activities. Location wise, its a mixed bag. You get great view of the mountains and the lakes but you are not close to the town centre and the main road lies between you and the view itself. Rather noisy if you open the sliding doors during the day. Wasn't too happy that we couldn't get a 30-60 minute late check out, to allow me to do a couple of short notice things in town didn't seem paticularly flexible compared to other places we stayed.

Fantastic place, our third stay

Posted Mar 30, 2015 on Hotels
This was our third stay at Pounamu, but our first time staying in the large one-bedroom apartment with lake views. On previous occasions we stayed in the quiet compact studio apartments without views, which we appreciated because they were quiet and cozy. From the open plan living room of the one-bedroom apt. we heard some road noise, but it's more of a low constant whish than a loud rumble, plus the amazing views of Lake Wakitipu and the surrounding mountains are enough to distract you. The traffic noise diminishes during the night, and cannot be heard from the bedroom, which can be separated from the open plan living area by a sliding wood partition. The apartment was fantastically comfortable, well-equipped with everything you might need: a wide array of cookware, oven, dishwasher, ample storage, a gas fireplace, TVs in both the living area and bedroom, washer/dryer (no coins required), an office area, one of the most luxurious king-sized pillowtop beds we have ever slept on, and so on. This would be a great place for a few days or an extended stay. As far as I know there is no public elevator, so there are a few steps to negotiate (and ramp for luggage).

Beautiful place, amazing view. Pricey, but in this case you get what you pay for.

Amazing views!

Posted Mar 26, 2015
We were 2 couples travelling together and we stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment. We each had our own ensuite bathroom. The amazing views over the lake and mountains with the gas log fire blazing was relaxing and most enjoyable. Beds were very comfortable and clean. The Wifi was excellent. Very quiet apartment even though on main road. 10-15 minute downhill walk into town. Excellent undercover parking at apartment. Only negatives - lots of stairs to get into 2nd floor apartments from garage; shower bath design would be very awkward for elderly/disabled people to get into and out of and studio room has wooden venetians which do not keep light out at night. Otherwise an excellent place to stay.

too much noise

Posted Mar 24, 2015 on Hotels
Apartment has a lot of road noise - to the point that opening the balcony doors meant no conversation. We had several difficulties with the fan in the room adjoining (bearing gone) which was like a jet next to our bed. We advised on second day and it took 5 days for repair. I was not impressed with the service provided by accommodation staff. The location is more than 10 minutes walk from town and uphill on return which for some is not comfortable.

Amazing town

A short walk from Queenstown. We had the smallest room the studio which was very well equipped and as we expected. We had 4 nights there and if I return would probably go for a larger appartment. Staff were excellent and very accommodating, stored our luggage overnight when we went to Milford Sound.

Solid place in Queenstown, NZ

Nice balance between service and cost. No maid service was fine, everything we needed in the room, very competent and friendly office staff.
