“1000 Monkeys can't be wrong”

Checked in a day early after a 4.5 hour drive from Arenal. Not only did they have a room they upgraded us to an ocean view suite. From our private balcony we watched white faced monkeys frolic in the palm trees less than 15 feet away. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to assist with calls to my rental car company to get a repair person on site. The grounds are beautiful, the views are world class. Highly recommend this hotel.

“Living in a Picture Post Card”

Hotel La Mariposa is a gorgeous charming property with beautiful grounds. We stayed in a Premier Ocean Room. It is worth the upgrade. Our spacious room, with floor to ceiling windows was built into the hillside. It offered a spectacular view overlooking Manual Antonio National Park, the coastline, and the rainforest below. La Mariposa is located upon the highest elevation in Manual Antonio; it boasts the most impressive view of the area. The room had a stunning balcony. The hotel has many lovely amenities. The pool and bar area is most attractive. The open air restaurant and the view it offers of the rainforest and coastline is truly spectacular. A delicious buffet breakfast is included. While eating breakfast, we commented that we felt as if we were living in a picture postcard. Sunset here is striking. The location of La Mariposa in the area is excellent. It is a short walk to the bus stop from the hotel. The hotel provides a shuttle to the beach. There are also many restaurants within walking distance of La Mariposa. This public beach, which is beautiful, is located just outside Manuel Antonio National Park. There are loungers and umbrellas available for a fee. Vendors travel the beach selling their wares. There are restaurants and shops across the street, along with many artisan stalls. We found all employees at the Mariposa to be extremely friendly, helpful, and courteous.

“Beautiful Hotel”

The hotel is beautiful. It's pricier than other hotels in the area but it's worth it. The room was great and the views are unforgettable. The only drawback was they were doing construction on-site. However, since we didn't stay in our room during the day, it didn't really matter to us.

“Mariposa Dream”

La Mariposa is a fantastic place to stay! It is up the hill from the beach which gives it a panoramic view of the gorgeous coast. I chose this hotel because it is a "Fodors Choice" and I was not disappointed. The hotel is very clean, appealing, and well staffed. We frequented the swim-up bar as well as the pool table. They have AMAZING VIEWS!! The hotel restaurant is perched at the perfect spot to take them all in. They are especially lovely over the complimentary breakfast buffet. It is one of the more high-end hotels in the area (drinks were about seven dollars each and a full course dinner for three with drinks was around eighty dollars). It is the place to stay if you want a little more luxury but not over the top. Free wifi by the pool. Very helpful staff. Gorgeous grounds. Excellent housekeeping. Nice rooms with patios and hammocks. LOVED IT!

“Beautiful Views, Great Service”

La Mariposa was wonderful. We had a beautiful ocean view room, with a balcony. You could hear the holler monkeys, and see all the wildlife (birds, lizards, monkeys) right there. On our last day as we were about to checkout about 10 squirrel monkeys showed up at the hotel. They were hanging around the trees and we were able to get great shots of them up close.

“Excellent Hotel!!! Highly Recommend!!”

La Mariposa Hotel is excellent. My boyfriend and I visited at the end of March for his birthday and staying at this hotel was the highlight of my trip. My luggage was lost 4 out of 5 days I was there (thanks to American Airlines) and the hotel staff was very accomodating with helping me make several calls a day to check the status of my luggage. The breakfast is included with your stay and is good. They serve the same selection every day so it was getting kind of old on about day 3. The rooms are clean and spacious. The views are AWESOME!!! I don't think you will get a better view from any hotel. Overall, this a great place to stay and I highly recommend anyone stay here.

“Great location and view”

My husband and our children ages 11 and 9 stayed at the Mariposa from July 4-6th. We were upgraded to an ocean front room on the third floor. The room was very large, nicely furnished with a breathtaking view. The rooms were very well air-conditioned. The included breakfast was delicious and satisfying. There was something for every palate. The pool was beautiful. The Hotel was walking distance to great restaurants like Kapi Kapi and Agua Azul as well as Cafe Milagro which sold coffee, muffins, pastries, sandwiches etc. I would recommend however, that you take a small flashlight to walk to the main road as it is not lit at night and is full of potholes making the walk a little difficult in the dark.
