Great View

It was hard to find. You have to go to a restaurant and they contact the owner. Other than that, it was great. Views are like the pictures

Great view

Cons: Thin walls between adjacent villas often catch and amplify those personal and intimate moments. A little sound proofing would help.
Location: very convenient to Manuel Antnio and Quepos
The privacy and personal ocean view are tremendous

Mediocre place to stay

Posted Aug 29, 2013
Pros: Views from terrace and restaurant
Cons: Apartments need renovation and technical upgrade Online advertisement contains range of products and services that are not offered in reality
Location: Beach, Restaurants, Bus, Park
We stayed for 5 days in August 2013 and found it overall disappointing and this is why: 1) When we arrived around 3pm on a weekday no one was there to welcome us despite their website and room brochure stating that there'd be someone from 7am to 7pm. 2) The apartment itself was old and not well-maintained. 3) Bedsheets were old and smelly. I don't mind me a little 70s style but then they should offer their apartments (by no means villas, by the way!) for 70s prices. I certainly do mind old bedsheets and lacking room cleanliness (spiderwebs, sticky old couches, dirty corners). 4) In contrast to what they had claimed on the net, no internet was available in the room. TV and DVD player were old and no cable TV available (not that I care much but it had been advertised online). All in all, it wasn't a great place to stay. We had a really nice time in Manuel Antonio despite the place. To be fair, the view from the terrace was nice and the breakfast at the bar wasn't bad. I'd recommend to stay elsewhere but if there's no other room available during the high season you might as well stay at Ylang Ylang.

A great value

Beautiful view of the ocean with a private hammock. Walking distance to beach, grocery store, and many bars and restaurants. The sign for the place is kinda small but the villas are connected to Salsipuedes tapas bar. We loved Salsipuedes, especially Marcela and the friendly staff who made us feel very welcome.

Great Place to Stay in Manuel Antonio!

Posted Jun 6, 2013
Studio 1 I had a great experience! It was my first time in Costa Rica, and I could not have picked a better place to stay. I went on my vacation in March 2013. Went with girlfriend but great for family too.The views at Ylang Ylang are amazing. You over look the pacific, and can even take in the views from your porch laying on a hammock. There is tons of life all around you, animals, birds, and plants. I even got to see toucans right on the property. Staff are all good. One of the best things about the villas is the AC. It was nice to come back after a long day in the sun and have a room with AC. There is also a restaurant right above the villas. They have good food at a good price. The road from quepos to manuel antonio has the most to do on it, and Ylang Ylang is in the perfect location on the road.It is within walking distance to great restaurants, and even a small supermarket. From the hotel you can walk to one beach (Playa Escondida). The walk to the beach is not very long, but it is up hill on the way back. This beach is less crowed compared to the main beach, however the main beach is better for swimming. To get to the main beach your best option is to hop on a bus. Busses run every 15min, and are cheap. One activity I really recommend is the night hike at "Fincas Naturales Wildlife Refuge". This is a great activity. The staff is very nice, and you learn a lot. Also this is a short (3-5min) walk from Ylang Ylang. Walk towards the beach and it will be on your left.

Disappointed

Posted May 5, 2013 on Hotels.com
Room was filthy, toilet wouldn't flush, shower wouldn't drain, floors and surfaces dirty, mis-matched thin torn sheets, one pillowcase had cartoons on it, tablecloth on table looked like someone had just eaten on it leaving crumbs, open shelf closet covered in spider webs, had to go to store and buy cleaning products first night. Curtain hanging over sink was un-hemmed and raveling out, not long enough to cover the window. Couldn't shut front curtains, had to pull them together from the middle and clip with a hair clip. Table on balcony was dirty, with a dirty astray on it. After the third night, we couldn't take it. So we went down the street and checked in to a 5 star Resort & Spa for the rest of our 25th anniversary. Lost lots of money on this little adventure. The sign out front posted a much lower rate than what we paid, not low enough for condition of the room. Our safe broke and they had to get someone to hammer it open to get our stuff out. On the up side, bed was comfortable, air conditioning worked, very good restaurant in front. Awesome views.
