Very good service and big clean rooms. Thanks to the owner again!
“Quito”
Good hotel, good location (but don't stay out too late).................
“Good place to stay”
It is a inexpensive place with a good service. Kindly people and big rooms. I guess it is the perfect place for long stay. Sometimes there is too much noise in around the hotel, but most of the day is very quit. You have anything you need in your room (TV,phone, hotwater).
“Modest Hotel in Quito”
The Hotel was a really modest hotel. Nothing fancy, but nothing ugly either. Basically, you were there to sleep and go out during the day, which is what I did. Quito can be quite chilly at night, and there wasn't any heat in the room, but the blankets were very warm and I was able to sleep pleasantly. I wish I had more to say about the surrounding neighborhood, but I basically jumped out of the hotel into the rental car and never walked around. From what I saw from the inside of my car, it seemed to be pleasant and quiet. Good rooms for the price. Can't be beat.
“Great stay over hotel between flights.”
This hotel was basic but clean. It is close to the airport and a great place to stay between flights. No hotel restaurant but close to several places.
“Good for its price”
You ca use it if you just need a place to sleep for a while.
“Nice, but loud on the weekend”
I stayed on a Saturday night, which anyone who has visited La Mariscal knows is a party night. I needed to get a good night's sleep after a long day of traveling, but unfortunately was not able to because of all the noise of the surrounding streets. The room was clean, but basic. You could probably find a hostel nearby that provides similar accommodations for a cheaper price.
“Yes with reservations”
The Alston Inn is very conveniently located, and the staff is VERY friendly and nice. (The owner even spent some time trying to get my laptop to connect to his wi-fi, but without success--there must have been some incompatible setting we couldn't find.) The price is right, too. BUT, think of the worst Motel 6 you've ever seen, and that's sort of what the room looked like--very small with queen bed taking up most of it. It was clean and bug-free, except for mold in the shower. (I wanted to suggest some bleach!) No meals are included in the price, but there are several gringo-friendly restaurants near by, and if your computer won't connect or better yet, you don't bring one, there is an Internet cafe very close (@ 50 cents/hour!) I would stay there again because of the location, price and staff, and can recommend it for those reasons.
“Nice stay in Quito”
The hotel is actually quite charming, staff very friendly and helpful, and in a good location for restaurants, bars and as a starting point to tourist spots. This isn't a high quality, state of the art hotel, but for the price it's a bargain. If you're looking for an American style hotel with all the bells and whistles, this isn't for you. The only complaint I had was on the other guests who liked to party a little too much. At check out, the owner walked out and hailed a cab for me and negotiated a price of only $5 for the 20 minute ride to the airport. I would definitely stay here again.
